i think hes as lucky as anyone is to know anyone. i know a few famous people but the thing you learn is that they are just people. amy has the most amazing voice i have heard on a woman but i dont know her as a person so i cant coment on weather he is lucky or not. as we say in the military we all crap sitting down and we all put our paints on one leg at a time. the guy has a good voice too. hope he does well with his life and is happy same as amy.

It isn't unhealthy per se, but I think the healthiest thing overall is to be able to draw inspiration from others in a productive and proactive capacity for one's self. A true role model would be a mentor that you get to interact with and all aspects of that person, not just their highlighted skill, would be a part of the package. Most people will never know Amy outside of her voice on records or performances on stage. So she'd only be an inspiration at best, which is fine too.

Fair point, it just depends on the person. I prefer not to idolise anyone and forge my own motivation but that's just me, others may find that, say, flaws of people they can interact with make them difficult to idolise, while they can assume that people like Amy are perfect because they never have to recognise their flaws. Maybe no-one in their life has the things in particular they are inclined to, like singing talent or atheltic talent. I'm not disagreeing with you, though.

You're right. I definitely appreciate your point of view even in contrast. Psychologically I have found that many people do tend to lean more towards a vicarious adoration in much the same way that you described. The trick is for those people to ultimately recognize that flaws and imperfections are precisely where the true lessons can be learned for growth and elevation of one's self. Choosing to see only one aspect of anything as opposed to the whole picture can be detrimental.

It depends on how people go about pursuing their adoration really. For many, having a perfect* role model is something that gives motivation, something to strive to, but it can be the other way, gving birth to the feeling "I can't be like that". That's probably the detrimental side of seeing only the perfection. I don't advocate any one way of life, people are too different to say we should think the same. Neither one of us is wrong here though, I've enjoyed this discussion. :)
