I love the moment when Peter gets out of assumpta's van, swings around and gets his first view of St Josephs. "it's beautiful". Such innocence and hope in his expression and voice. He really does look "about 12" at this moment (as Assumpta says to Niamph a few minutes later).

Just, by chance, watched the episode where they declare their love for each other and then Assumpta gets electrocuted. It still brings a tear to my eye.

where's the bit where assupta says that he'd probably give her the last rites even if she didnt want them....coz they play that bit when she dies in her last epsiode and fr peter remebers it and doesnt want to give her last last rites after what she said...

That's later on in this same episode, when she's driving Peter up the mountain in the middle of the night to give the last rites to a dying man.

Yes, it certainly would be a safe assumption if we get the ending we hope for; but it would be even better to see Peter again and how his life has been going since Assumpta's death. We are not even really sure if he remained a priest as he was on the brink of leaving the priesthood right when she died. So much was left unresolved, and we are left with settling on an alternative ending we can accept.

No, i think we were kinda told he had had enough of the preisthood and had given it up by him throwing his white collar into the river at the very end and remember he went off backpaking around the world in his last episode?....he's not a priest anymore because of assumpta diying.

A beautiful beginning to a beautiful relationship. Assumpta just wasn't meant to be with anyone else but Peter. Can we assume Peter kept her in his heart for the rest of his life?

They became engaged during the show and remained so through the series but ended up breaking it off later on. I believe due to different career paths. But I know they develeoped a very close relationship during this show. And you can see it in each scene they share.

Yes, it is good for them that they were able to have success, at least for awhile, with an off-screen as well as on-screen relationship. Series one was the best for showing their innocence and early developing bonding with each other without the angst that took over later in series 3. As actors they "played off ofeach other" perfectly.

Netflix has Series 1-5 on Watch Instantly. But I can never get into any of the Series after, Series 3. The very First episode is still one of my favorites.
