I'm a fan of the Goin' Band and have a lot of friends who are in it or have been in the past, so you can trust it comes with full sincerity when I say that was the worst performance by their band I've seen in a long time — the marching was atrocious, they couldn't form a line, and the volume seemed more like a 300 piece band than a 400+ piece band. And I mean that with love — every other show I've seen from them is usually fantastic — but hey, it was also VERY early in the season.
I think a lot of that is attributed to how really young the band is as well as an extremely busy schedule to start the season off with. By far the fewest number of upperclassmen in my 4 years of Goin' Band. Unfortunately, there aren't as many returning upperclassmen as there should be. I use this term loosely, but to an extent it's a kind of "rebuilding" year.
well im positive my eyesight is fine, and those lines are straight...diagonals are awesome...theres nothing wrong with this show. if you have any doubt that we aren't the best band in the southwest, then just watch any of our other shows...especially our videogame show...
It's a bit like the old Tech Patriotic Show (Light Show 1995 video) with traditional marching and music. The Patriotic Show had some variations year-to-year, but the core of the show was the same and we could learn it in a week. Though, there was still more drill than Wall-to-Wall and it was rarely played on big games.
We did this show in order to give us the most preparation time for what will probably be our most popular show of the season, the Video Game Show. It's difficult and will require a lot of time to work on the drill and the music. We do Wall-to-Wall during the OU, A&M, and any bowl games, typically. It's not generic and it certainly doesn't mean we didn't have anything prepared that week, Laconic913.
"We did this show in order to give us the most preparation time"
And:
"doesn't mean we didn't have anything prepared that week"
Seems to be a contradiction.
To your credit, you have done two different shows in two games, and if you're doing a video game show this week it makes three, where Tech has done one show so far. I was hoping you'd do something more exciting for this game, especially after having an off week; I really enjoyed the Carmen show last year.
I don't understand how that seems to be a contradiction. This show does certainly take time...it looks simple, but it's an exposing show. Everyone's marching has to be uniform. It's about the details, really. It's also a traditional and the crowd seems to enjoy it here.
Had the schedule not have changed, where they decided to move Tech game earlier within the season, then it would've been the case that we would've played perhaps a more "exciting" show. Sorry if you didn't like Wall-to-Wall.
No, I understand perfectly. It's an easy-to-learn show that all of the upperclassmen know already, so it's easy to reach into your back pocket and pull it out, which is why you see UT do it a lot at bowls when they have minimum preparation time. It gets a good crowd reaction because it's considered to be traditional, but if I were in that band I'd consider it a cop-out. Really perfect for their purposes...easy show, they actually get to move around while playing, and the crowd likes it...go.
It takes a while to get into the groove, when there are so many new students who aren't that familiar with the whole process...Saving the best for last!
someone needs to put a whole band show on here....they are The Showband of the Southwest dontcha know

The Goin' Band From Raiderland owned that halftime. To bad the final score didn't indicate a win for the football team.

If this had been a high school competition, I'd fully agree with you.

Laconic913 - Just to clarify the way LHB uses Wall to Wall Band, the Tech game is the only game where the show will be used at halftime.
Otherwise, it is used for the OU game and bowl games as a pre-game performance.
Beyond that, LHB performs a different show at every home game each year, two of which (Wall to Wall Band and Script Texas) are traditionals.
The Video Game show will be premiering at the game vs. Colorado on Oct. 10.

Or.. we did our traditional Wall-to-Wall show that gets the most crowd response of any show that we do?
Don't judge that which you don't understand, friend XD

Ugh, I see they did their generic "We don't have anything prepared this week" pseudo-Aggie show.
