  • Beautiful! So utterly beautiful! :-D

  • @Zackabier A foam plane+crude hot rocket = disaster. Thankyou for the compliment! In future I will make a balsa wood Me163 and use professional slow-burn rapier motor to power it...

  • @GerbilEssences I like the Natter design in a way, but I think the Komet will be much more fun flying. So, good choice! ... Sometimes I wonder if is what the design of the Natter which later led to the Lockheed Starfighter, but that's another story.

  • the nose peice @ 1:25 looks like a short penis.

  • @L0GAN811 You see what your want to see :P

  • use an estes a rocket engine ment for a 2 stage, it wont explode at the end and it wont kill the plane

  • scrauso ma carino

  • nice i love you plane so amazing

  • no lifer, kut muziek.

  • This is such a great video.

Something about it just makes it so fucking great.

  • at the end, without the planes wings, the plane will look like a.. dick.

  • Shame that the Natter never became a success. Btw, the music is Schubert, right?

  • @ZuperZeize It's Bach, i put it on the credits ;)

  • would you like a balsa plan for the natter? it is a scale flying plan..

  • if you used a 2:1 ratio of potassium nitrate (can be found in stump remover at a local gardening store) to sugar you may find it easy to launch your plane with out incineration however the place where you burn cannot be foam.. if you would like details go ahead and message me

  • hay let me have that scale

  • hey its fly thats awesome =)

  • Forgive them mein Fuhrer. Zis is not zee vunder veapon you seek.

  • lol wooooooooooooosh

  • Ahh Bach. Nice video and I don't write that often.

  • @DirkDigglerGuy It's Schubert if I'm not wrong

  • THE DAMN THING FLIES!!!!

  • of course it flies :'D

    1. Its a nice selfmade thing

    2. It was orginaly german technology and these owne'z since Worldwar 2 ^^

  • hay so the more charcoal the less percentage of it blowing up is gonna happen?

    but what about power?

    the less charcoal

    the more power given off?

  • I'm no expert. I gave up on these rockates a long time ago.

The basic principle in powder rockets is more charcoal = slower rate of burn (and less chance of explosion with KNO3 or gunpowder).

But I don't mess around with those substances!

I have ordered some 'rapier' rockets which are good for flying models (not too hot or too powerful).

  • Oh thanks for the info dude!

  • penis haha

  • this is so cute!!!! i love this video, faved.

  • You have created to PERFECT match rocket

Could you at least roughly tell me how you made to actual rocket

specifically how you achieved that shape and how much match powder to charcoal mix to use

Don't bother about the simple thing because I'm already pretty good at making rockets

And I watched all your other match rocket videos (including the old ones that seem to have disappeared) thanks

  • what a beauty, so light, stunning flyer..great rocket sled..

my god this is an amazing video, well done.

  • Oh thankyou :) You're too kind, I haven't yet made a rocket that doesn't incinerate the plane it powers ;)

  • hehe, just like those nazis back then you need to find suitable alloys! ;) (I feel kind of geeky but wth...)

  • Ah, not the wingless wonder! I'm trying to make a REAL plane with balsa that actually FLIES now (no fire or rockets involved, A Fokker g1)

I can't remember which but some country in WWII possibly Germany, made a prototype with magnesium alloy airframe - one bullet hit and the whole thing burns in inextinguishable fire :P

  • @SmiertSpionem Coat it with flame retardant stuff :D

  • @SmiertSpionem maybe try a casing that resist heat better

  • @fadugleman Where foam is concered you simply cannot contain heat, In the end I will make a balsa 163 with actual ventilation :)

  • can i have a me163 and a ba349 glider copy?

  • I can send you plans for a balsa Me163. No (free) plans exist for the Ba349, but I have a good outline pdf. file

  • i want the ME-163 and BA-349 as coies

  • i mean copies

  • not sure I understand?

  • like this kind of videos!

  • Thanks, this is not the final version however ;)

  • You're a regular scientist.

  • Ah mr.20 I didn't know you were still about! Thanks for the compliment :)

  • Hello!

  • Hello to you!

  • Those look great, looking forward to seeing the natter in action!

  • Ah thankyou, the wooden one may take a little longer to make (well the safe rockets anyway). It will not explode like the example shown in the link under video description.

  • Nice model :)

  • The music sounds unusually festive.

  • Well it wasn't really my intention. I wanted something suitably Germanic (but not nazi related), upbeat and in the public domain (which mostly limits me to classical music)

  • Nice model :)

  • thanks

  • It IS a nice model, though.. :)

  • You haven't seen g-nothing yet ;)

  • Good! I swear I saw something the other day, though.. :) :)

  • Nice model :)

  • thanks again!

  • Ah, progress... and it looks good! I'm especially impressed by the power of that rocket, actually propelling the trolley on the tracks with speed, and over the edge! Unfortunately it is now MY turn for some bad news and I will be focusing my energy OUTSIDE of YouTube for a while.. but I'm glad I caught eye of this.. brilliant! It cheered me up.. :)

  • It was a very light trolley ;p

    T.Hanks

  • Still quite the effort! I was hoping to post a video of me assembling my 1/32? scale P51 Mustang, and watch it fly.. but it'll be done at a later time! :)

  • 1/32 - thats pretty big eh? Please say its the swedish or red tail one?

  • It's got a Yellow Chequered cowl.. but alas it's not a plastic model! And the scale is only a guesstimate.. but it WILL fly! Only thing is, my garden is far too small to allow me to use the plane properly.. :) Still, for a whole £0.99, I don't expect much... :)

  • What is it made of?!

  • Foam.. :)

  • "Foam, foam on the range..."

  • .."where the Farmer is smelly and strange,

    he's wearing a dress,

    but it's no success

'cause he has forgotten to change

  • "If you change your mind I'm the first in line, honey I'm still free take a chance on me. If you need me let me know and I 'll be around, if you've got no place to..." ...wait a minute...?

  • At least I'm beginning to get back the 'urge' to glue some plastic together.. I'm just waiting for the next blow, though, that'll knock me out .. :P Not like me to be the pessimist around here.. but.. sigh..

  • Surely your unmade model collection is an investment of a large scale that can be sold off when times get hard?

  • A) Everybody's already selling 2nd hand kits B) There's very little monetary value in 2nd hand kits, unless you have some VERY RARE stuff, in which case I wouldn't sell anyway C) I've already tried flogging some kits, but had NO buyers D) I have a very odd collection, I've been told, stuff that don't interest many others E) Nearly all of my kits have been bought with projects in mind F) Some have sentimental value G) Some have NO value at all H) Some are just mental I) I have run out of excuses

  • J) I take your word for it.

  • O)K

  • Y)bother

  • Y) Not

  • N)tertaining I guess.

  • M)uch so! For pure nerve-calming purposes I intend to build another 'Luft 46' project very soon.. It's the PM Model's 1/72 Messerschmitt Me P-1111 kit! Cheap AND cheerful!! The big advantage will be that it can be painted as I see fit... :) :) After all, it didn't really ever fly in active service, if at all.. :P

  • L)uft 46 good! Is that the swinger winger? Something PM are good at, yes? Judging by your Huckebein and P.13.

My natter is coming along quite well although tissue location and stretching is a pain in the T*sco. Still very light, the motor I imagine will take a LONG time to perfect.

"Luft at first flight" as they say.

  • Fixed wing as far as I know.. It was only in the planning stage in January 1945, so obviously there wasn't even a mock-up made, like there was of the Lippisch and Huckebein.. The PM kits are basic to say the least, but I like them.. and they're cheaper than resin by far! Overall dimensions are accurate, and there's scope to scratchbuild the odd bit here and there, which I like to do now and again! In case you haven't noticed.. However, the deadline for the mystery kit is Monday, so (cont)

  • (cont) there's where my efforts must go tonight! :)I doubt I'll complete it on time, as I took a few days 'off' modelling, for reasons known to you.. :P Once Shaun the Sheep is finally done, I'm ready to tackle the Bv 138, and that will be some PROJECT!! Then P-1111 will be my side project during the Bv build, I guess! At least I do have some first hand photo references of the Bv 138, and that on it's own is inspirational... :) I'm funny that way.. :}

  • Keep it up!

Your video's always tend to bring a grin on my face :-)

  • I'm sorry the fokker G.1 has taken back seat to this project (until I understand how to make an rc control system).

This video shows only the prototype, I'm making a balsa version right now - but there are many tests and measurements of rockets and systems to be done before it flies ;)

    Thanks.

  • Nice, been awhile since you posted any models. :)

  • Indeed it has, almost too long :D

  • sounds like christmas music

  • Thankyou!

  • great job :)

  • Cheers ;) I shall have to throw it out the 3rd storey window on a calm day to show the proper flying characteristics.

  • WOW!. Now that is impressive. Next is a semi full scale model?

  • Nope, it is being constructed now - same scale but lighter and with vertical rocket launch!

  • Even lighter? How will you maintain structural stability?

  • By making it out of balsa wood. Foam is hard to carve and leaves a big solid chunk, but balsa frames are hollow inside and you can fit a rocket in there... carefully ;)

The main difficulty is cutting and drilling 'O' shapes in balsa without it cracking along the grain of the wood :O

I was making a Fokker with motors but I have too many questions about electric control and servos to build any further.

  • Impressive that you would put that much effort in a, most likely, one shot deal. Do you steam your balsa to get the shape or just bend and hope for the best?

I'd really would like to see some footage of this epic build... I mean; How often do you get to see the build of an actual working jet plane model being built?

  • Not often enough! :)

  • I don't bend balsa you just cut flat shapes, join together and strech glued tissue over it to make the final 3d/round shape.

There will be footage, oh yes ;)

And its a 'rocket' plane. Jets are just too safe for my liking :P

This one will be cheap to make, but not 'one shot' (I am developing a safe insulated rocket so the craft is not destroyed)

  • Sorry, yes; Rocket plane'. Very different indeed. Can't wait to see this.

  • We're looking at February 2011, at Smiertspionems current rate of posting.. :) :) (only joking, I'm sure it will be posted before then.. say January 2011)

  • DAMN!! I just told you I can't wait!!!

    There goes that plan.

  • Don't you mean: There goes that PLANE?? :)

  • That plane isn't going anywhere soon it seems so I'm pretty sure it was a plan that was going.

    :^)

  • Well, my plane for the forseeable future is SURVIVAL.. :p No more, no less..

  • PLAN.. :) I'm confusing myself now.. :P

  • cool nice job on it :D

  • Thanks
