i live in Murfreesboro. and i was on my way home from Florida when all this happend. im glad i missed it tho, cause im terrified of storms. i remember going to town the next day to get an Easter dress and Thompson Lane was backed up like crazy so me and my mom decided to take a shortcut through Haynes Drive... not knowing thats where to tornado actually hit. The damage was honestly hard to take in. I pass where that lady and her baby died everyday on my way home from work. its so sad.
I remember when this happened. I was a senior in high school. I live in Nashville, but literally like 2 days after this tornado hit, I had to go up to MTSU for a tour. We got lost before we got there & I remember seeing alot of damage to M'boro.
thats what my town looked like after our F4 Tornado back in 2008. many things were destroyed all across town and believe it or not, only one person go injured during the whole thing. it was a blessing from God because that was one big tornado!
@garyhstorms09 it has 2 off the shelf AA batts. last about 2 hours. I suspect Ill be busy end of march through may.. I think drills are next week durring the tornado/severe storm awareness week.
1, Not at all, I would have loved to be closer to see it better, I want to go on one of those storm chasing vacations in the mid west I think it would be very cool to see a tornado just eating up a corn field throwing trees like tooth picks.
I don't think I could ever live in the mid west or anywhere tornados are common, how do people move on with their lives after this? I experienced 3 tornadoes in my life, all in california, nothing damaged, but it was enough to scar me for life. I give you people kudos
The area where the Mother and child died was where my Mom lived. We visited what was left of their house. I was told that the father, mother, and baby were in their bathtub. The father was covering up his wife and child, but he was sucked out during the tornado. His wife was picked up and thrown about 15 feet away in my mom's friend's parent's yard. It's really horrifying and sad. :(
No because Tennessee voted for McCain. Just kidding. I think he did a general bad storm day in the midwest and southeast kind speech. Nothing specific
Hell No, he dont give a shit about stuff like this. All he cares about is kissing Americas Ass andthe economy. Id rather have my life rather than money personally.
Thanks for posting. I'm from Murfreesboro, moved to Memphis about 6 months ago. But, Murfreesboro is still home: my parents, sisters, aunt and uncle live there, and many friends. Thankfully, all my family was ok, our homes untouched. I have heard all about this from my parents, but it's difficult to get my head around what happened without seeing it myself. My fiance thinks I'm morbid for looking for pictures of it online, but I just can't stand not knowing what happened to my home. Thanks!
I lost my house due to the F-4 Tornado, I lived in the subdivision by The Avenue, I lost everything due to it, i am now sadly living with my friend who lost there roof.
I can't believe this. My best friend's parents live on Crosspark Dr., and I used to rent their attic from them. I think several of the houses immediately around them were hit but somehow they made it through okay. The trees you can see from their back yard are absolutely wrecked, though.
Living in Louisiana , I can relate to this storm, much like Hurricane Damage. It doesn't matter where you live , Mother Nature is in Full Control of our Lives. Great coverage of this storm.
thanks for the video...i'm about 4 blocks away from thompson lane, that's impressive behind the BP there, thankfully they didn't have any cars staged for shipment, those semi trailers are just lieing on top of each other, i was watching TV when they showed the traffic camera and it crossing the interstate and thats when we got in the mud room,
Awesomee footage i was in one in Denton Tx at nite yrs ago im a truck driver ..we had those same tornado warnings a few hours later here in virginia my prayers are with the community
The ones that lost there houses all said it was over in 10 seconds or less I think you skip fear and go straight to shock in that instance. A tornado warning came out 5 min before but the warning area was 14 or 15 miles wide the tornado wa only 1/2 mile wide, no one ever thinks it will happen to them. Then it does. ya-know.
great video, if you need any help getting your video/channel exposed i use a site called mytubeviews . com It has helped 5 of my videos get ranked on the first pages.
Tennessee isn't in tornado alley, but the spring is always very active for us. Watch out for the midsection of the us from Texas on northward. Monday April 13th is going to have a "setup" just like Friday was. Rain in the am adding mositure then heating up with a cold front in the afternoon with very turbulant upper level winds. so watch out.
TN isn't? Wow and you got a 3? Thats crazy. Is it true that potentially damaging tornadoes are not common? Thanks. Oh and do they happen at night or only during the day?
I have had 3 close calls in 10 years here and it was all daytime tornados (early afternoon) The ones at night scare the s*** out of me. You cannot fight what you cannot see.
i agree with trebjones 83! it was a matter of life and death. it was about half of a mile from my home we watched it coming straight for us and it turned. thats when it hit and destroyed the neighborhoods on compton rd. im sorry for all the people that lost everything.
Wow... great footage... and thanks so much for sharing it! I live in the blackman community in Royal Glenn subdivision and am so thankful that our neighborhood was spared! My heart and prayers are with the everyone here in M'boro.
Chris-way to not respond negatively. I am glad your family and friends were safe. I am sure everyone is a little on edge after the ordeal we went through.
I was right in its path, it sounded like a train, it terrified me. I am almost thinking of moving now. It was on us and past us in seconds it seemed. It took 30 seconds to pass by my house splitting opur tree in front, terrifying I thought my life would end.
Way to stay out of the way of those who were really trying to help out! What about "stay away so medical crews can get in quickly," do you not understand? I guess your entertainment is more important than those who really needed the help. You type of people are retarded! You just have to "rubberneck"!
Tornadoes are horrifying, i live in Southeastern Mass about an hour from Boston and we had 2 tornado warnings last summer and it freaked me out, all we got in my area was the thunderstorm part of it, i think it touched down in Dartmouth Ma. and Connecticut with one casualty.
I was working in Fazoli's at the time the storm hit. My husband was working at American Tire Co. behind Toots where the last tornado hit two weeks ago. He got a short video on his cell phone that I posted on here. Good video of the aftermath. It just proves that mother nature can be truely devestating.
Nice job filming the aftermath. I know the weathermen and police stress not to get out and 'sightsee', but I think, as long as you stay out of the way, which it looks like you did, it's important that you educate your children so they see the destruction first hand and don't think of a tornado as just some cool spectacle.
Chris, I live in the Boro as well and the tornado jumped our home where we are, but damage not far away. Watching this and hearing the childrens voices in the background make you stop and think about just how they see this through their eyes...just try as their little brains might, to figure out just what happened today. Your ending with the sun through the standing tree is a testiment of just how quickly the storm clouds roll away. Thank you for sharing this. "Good Job my friend.
