im guna miss Woolworths too, i used to work in the one tht was in Hartcliffe/Bristol, my last day was yesterday (Sunday 4th of Jan 2009) altho the store closed on the saturday, very sad day to all of us that worked there bt ther is very little we can do =(

Woolworths I will miss so much. Pick & Mix was brillant when I was a kid. I am sad now because it is gone. My local store closed yesterday and it was 2 minutes away from my home.

I'm not sad at all. Let them fall and may other retaillers learn a lesson. Woolworths went bankrupt for a reason. They couldn't compete because their stuff costed more and they didn't move on with the times. No-one shopped there.

People only want to bail out Woolies because they grew up with seeing the shop. When poeople my age go in there it's nostalgia.

Me and my friend, when we were baies, met in a pick 'n' mix isle. We were staring at eachother in our prams and giving each other dirty looks.

It's been an ongoing joke for ages and it's sad to see it go :(

pick and mix is so bad now. I went into woollies the other day - first time in like 5 years. Mostly it was sweets wrapped in wrappers or hard boiled sweets. I remember nice jelly sweets and such... or chocolate mice (the small onees).

I went down there myself on the last day, we had bags of cheap stuff. It is sad, it has been a big thing especially in smaller towns. The discounts were crazy, they were selling new albums for like 90p each.

in my woolworths they arent even doing pick 'n' mix, i went in there today for the last time with my £10 gift voucher that my aunty gave me in the summer, and they didn't even have pick 'n' mix anymore. so i ended up buying a really old CD

my last item from Woolworths was a Woolys HITS OF THE 80s and it is the worse album EVER, when i think of the eighties i think of SpandauBallet, ABC, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Blondie or Hot Gossip, NOPE none of those feature its got awlful recordings of Ben E. King Stand By Me and Ran So Far Away AFOS.

i wont miss Woolies too much even though in our small town its at the center and replaced the empty shop (was Quicksave) it took around 3/4 years to find a buyer

I went in there today, my local one closes in 6 days, and there were no bargains at all, everything was stupidly expensive. Extras boxset was £40! But the Vicar of Dibley boxset was £30 and I paid £52 in May, so meh.

Staff room chairs were available for £20 though..

The only thing I will miss is indeed the pic'n'mix, disgusting and as weird a concept as it is.. although it's not like Woolies is the only place you can go :)
