  • unbelievable....

  • Does anyone know how his guitar is tuned here?

  • C suspended fourth add nine

    or

    CGCFCD

  • You think this sounds good? Try seeing Martin in concert... He's a true virtuoso, a nice guy and you will never forget your evening in his company. He loves playing small venues too.

  • Truly, and well said, my friend Fingal. Y'know, the most important thing Martin taught me (by example) is to play the guitar as if it's a set of finely tuned vocal chords. Just like this vid. That's a singing voice coming out of that guitar. It's a singer, a siren, a keening voice that you hear. Time signatures are way less important than the cadences of breath. It's the air in the music he plays, and the breath, like a singer of rare talent. We celebrate that, eh, Fingal? best to ya, -edwinson

  • Look at all the vids in this Museumofmakingmusic set, and you will see the astounding alchemy of Martin's genius, and the perfection of the Sobell guitar. The two of them together have no equal. Yeah, this is an amplified recording, and this is not audiophile transmission, but can you hear the mind boggling amount of tone that Martin gets out of that guitar? Mass kudos and hosannas to Martin Simpson and Stefan Sobell...

  • A lovely tune. An exercise in control and restraint. I learnt this a couple of years ago and it's very difficult to get it so clean and precise, but then that's why I'm not Martin Simpson!

  • fantastic

  • Sublime. The uncanny combination of Martin's beautiful slide work on one of Stefan Sobell's masterpiece intruments is awesome.
