at 4:32 someone beginns to speak in German but i doesnt understand what is spoken only something about "helfenden engeln" that mean helping angels but i doesnt understand anymore....
@MetaITV the rythm guitar is jon schaffer, from Iced earth. The drummer is richard christy, x-iced earth. lead guitarists vary. but hansi always sings.
@kaimond94 It's right in the Hear no evil, etc, chant, right? I was never really able to hear what he said, either, but yes, I have always heard the whispering. :)
When I listen to this song, it's like the song I would chose if I was transitioning to a vampire and was watching the last sunrise I would see as a human before I became a member of the undead.
When I listen to this song, I envision a vampire who's tired of life, utterly sick of his very existence . . . and within this melancholy, self-destructive mental state, decides to embrace the sunrise.
Actually, it's the last part of a three-song trilogy on that album. The song portrays the last moments of Azrael, the Creator, and his obliterating of the entire universe (upon becoming maddened by suffer, grief and pain) ... all preceding his suicide, thus allowing his one and only friend to re-create the universe in his own image. Though it DOES reference Jesus Christ, but referring to him as "Just a carpenter.. not more, maybe not even that." Gf, Mirrors.
@19Flagg19 I envision a gnome named Golgotha who created his own world. But he saw the death of only one carpenter and was driven insane with thoughts of suffering and pain, so he chooses to end his life and so the world he created. The sunrise marks the beginning of the last day of his life and his world, thus, from his perspective it is: "My Last Sunrise"
The gnome is named Azrael. You hear his voice in the first song of the three part trilogy. Golgotha is the place near Jerusalem where the man Jesus was cruficied. It is also degined as a place of loss or sacrifice. Within the trilogy. Azrael destroys the universe twice, but between these he meets his one and only friend. In this song, he kills himself and the universe, leaving his friend to recreate it himself.
@19Flagg19 I didn't know that though, even back when I was really into demons and wizards I thought the gnome killed himself because he witnessed one death and went mad. At least now I know the true story behind the album........Can't believe I got Golgotha confused though....I should really listen to these guys more lol
@19Flagg19 This and the other two songs in this "trilogy" (Tear Down the Walls, Gallows Pole) tell the story of a man who achieves godhood and destroys the universe. OR a god who creates a universe and then destroys it, I forget how it went but anyway it was pretty METAL.
You're wrong. It's about a gnome named Azrael who is omnipotent and the Creator of all existence. In Tear Down the Wall, he destroys the universe, only to recreate it again in Gallow's Pole (very introspective lyrical content), only this time he meets a friend. In My Last Sunrise, he decides to destroy the Universe again with himself, leaving his one and only friend to establish a new one.
Look at the comments below your short-sighted one. It has me replying to another moron telling him all about fuckin' Azrael. Read on, little fucker, read on.
@19Flagg19 yes, now i can see that, after almost 9 months, you finally found out this is not a stupid twilight story. There is no need to insult me like a 5 year old, really now :))
You obviously have not read the Twilight series. I have, and it contains nothing as cryptic as my independent interpretation of this song. I have ALWAYS known about the true meaning behind this song; I'm simply smart enough to establish my own interpretation. Now take your double-chinned (referencing your emoticon), self-righteous self, and go troll somewhere else. Thank you.
@HansiKursch666 I've heard an annotation from the Guitarist that they're going to place a new Album somewhere in 2011. They wanted to do it in the end of 2010. however they have too much on their schedule and that alone doesn't give enough time to make awesomeness of D&W and money doesn't quite come from these albums which makes it to be purely and solely works of art. New album in 2011... I can't wait. I never waited for some new album of any band, but this is far beyond. :]
Ahhh Demons & Wizards, the union of some Iced Earth (guitar) / Blind Guardian (vocals) members (maybe others too)... What a powerhouse band, and what a brilliant song :)
Sorry Fred, I hit the skip button.
