Just a suggestion...you might want to add a whistle to your kit. They have those flat orange marine whistles at walmart and they slip right in between your cordage and the outside of the tin or with a ranger band...just something I do that you might want to look at.
great video explaned very well lots of good idea but please tell me what you can do with the nails we just cant figure it out (no hammer) the only thing we could think of is that if you are in the woods and lost you can mark a tree to see if your walking in circuls. but i sead if you got a compass how could you walk in circuls...
nice kit! i would say to get rid of the tea and boulion cube, and the 2 nails, and the fresnal lens, then u would still hav 2 ways to start a fire, a last resort, make fire with wood and wood, the nails, those u wouldnt need, because u could make a peg out of wood, and the tea and chicken cube, u dnt need those, in a survival situation, u wouldnt need those because they would run out right away, and if u do get stranded, ur instinc ts will kick in and use other things, like the surrondings
you could put the striker on the lid with some tape, and Ithink that there is too many fire making tools 2 of them is enough. And some water cleaning tablets are useful too. (for mini kit).
I thought about putting the striker on the lid. There are 2 Katadyn Micropur tabs in there. And I believe that you cannot have too much fire starting implements.
Very nice kit btw. Thanks for the post. I am just curious and maybe this has been discussed but what about Airport security? Can you pack this on your carry-on bag. If not, why not and what can be done so that you can carry it?
In order to carry it on a plane, I would have to get rid of the razor blade, knife, matches, possibly the fishing hooks. However, you should be able to carry it packed in checked luggage. Just not on the plane in your pocket. Gotta love TSA regulations. IMO its would not be worth the hassle to attempt to carry it on the plane, I would just keep it in the luggage.

Keep the nails, good source for repairing things, drilling holes, etc.

You can use them for lots of things, for example making a spear, fishing hook, and for hanging things on.

that looks like a 3/4 x 4 inch FireSteel com rod? I like to use cotton balls with jelly, works well as great tinder!

@OutdoorsBest
Its actually a 2 3/8 x 1/4" rod. It works well for a small kit.

Do they let you attach stuff to the can? seems like they would want the kit to be self contained. Either way, nice kit

@ConditionRedDawn
Yes he said you could attach something to it as long as it still remained small.
