bro..did they change it with blood of the employees or something? anything to make a buck. i had the same thing happen to my girlfriends car..turns out that they just cleaned around the filling area to make it look like a change was done. when i got my hands on the car, i discovered the corruption of walmart. a friend of mine that used to work there told me that its normal practice there, and its actually encouraged by management...wtf?
Yeah Honestly.. I have worked at walmart before changing oil. For them it's all about speed. Sure they care that it's done right, but if you can't do it fast you get fired, So a lot of the techs in order to speed up their service time will not wait for the oil to completely drain out.. And they don't care.. Simple, in their eyes if the customer can't see it, it doesn't matter. I opened up my own shop and although it may not be as fast as Walmart, it is going to be done right every time!!
@redyoshi1985 Good for you ; I liked your way of thinking. What you have said also applies to ANY business that provides / sells / repairs a good or a service. I remember when my mom got her first VCR; salesman from Montgomery Wards cam over to install it at no charge and didn,t leave until we was connected and running. Wow !! I sure miss that.. What Do You Think ?
this reminds me..i needa check my oil. i think i got about 3k miles on it by now. and if i had to change oil that thick i think i wuda just dropped the pan and cleaned it out. theres probably a nice big bowl of jello still in there
@ne0tas since i bought the truck ive only used castrol high mileage. i usually change it at just over 3k or a few hundred under 5k depending on how ive been driving and i check the dip stick every few weeks to see how the color and consistancy of the oil is doing. lol ive put 5k in parts on my truck in the past year by myself or with my dads help. the only things ive gotten mechanics to do is mount and balance tires and they replaced my rack and pinion along with a wheel bearing.
china ,what do you buy that isnt imported ,and before you answer look at the tags on your stuff ,i doubt that oil has become that way due to wal mart you have an engine problem .

Hate to say it, but you kind of asked for this. You paid for shitty service, from shotty techs, and super cheap shitty oil. I hear Walmart oil changes are around $25. For $35, get it done at the dealer, with dealer oil, tire pressures set, entire vehicle checked over for problems, and a free wash and vacuum.
@memphiskyle Walmart uses the same shit oil as dealers. (bulk pennzoil) They will also skimp on oil as much as possible to save money. This is mostly bad because during the 3000 miles you will lose some oil and end up running your car lean.
@infinitewobdrahpa What? Every dealer uses different oil, I've seen some use Mobile 1, I've seen some use a regular synthetic blend off-brand oil. Seen everything from Motorcraft to Royal Purple. And they do not skimp on oil to save money. And what does the ammout of oil in the crankcase have to do with being "lean" How does oil level cause a change in STFT or LTFT or ANY O2 feedback? And not all engines burn oil, many do, but not all. Please be educated before your speak.
@Collins328 Running any fluid low is considered lean. What does emission have anything to do with what i said? Why would oil level effect fuel ratio anyway LOL! Running lean or rich on oil can effect emissions! Pretty much every car burns oil. It's common for crap oil change centers to skimp on the oil....it's expensive! They might not even change your filter! Maybe you should be the one to educate yourself before you comment?
@infinitewobdrahpa I'm glad you posted what you did, because now EVERYONE can see you are retarded. "Low" does not equate to "Lean" for all fluids, that is just an incorrect and stupid statement. I don't even know how you came to think that is true. "Lean and Rich" refer to mixtures, more commonly, Fuel to air ratios. That is why I said yourstatement makes no sense, "Lean" has nothign to do with crankcase oil level. And I am happy to show you my ASE Certifications any time you please.
don't get oil changed at walmart? don't get ANYTHING at walmart.
having said that, I can't believe anyone would go there for a freakin' oil change. that's like doing your grocery shopping at an auto mechanic's vending machine....you're going to the wrong place for the wrong thing.
Looks like they didn't even touch the vehicle AT ALL! except for maybe driving in the shop. You might as well take it to someone else or do it yourself

Keep shopping at China-Mart the economy is almost collapsed!
Then everyone can live like they do in China/India and the rest of the 3rd world rat holes.
This may not be an issue with Wal-Mart... in Europe, somefully synthetic oils, if mixed with other types of fully synthetic oils, perform this way. Mainly the VAG (VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat, Porsche) diesel units... if a "PD" oil is specified, then that's what must be used. Any subsequent top-ups must use the same oil, or they "jelly-up" like this.
i have changed the oil in my diesel toyota landcruiser and not ONCE have i seen oil do that. even when its at the end and its at its last drops it slowly drips out, its NEVER supposed to be chunky.
i've also done plenty of petrol engine cars and have NEVER seen it like that.
oil needs to be thin to circulate, JELLY oil obviously wont circulate.
@EGMAG really? cuz of all the times ive changed oil i have never seen oil do this. wen oil jellies up like that its because it has not been properly drained and changed.
@superhawkn Coolant is typically 50% water and will emulsify making the oil look like a light creamy milk shake. Fuel will thin motor oil, and if you blot it on white paper it will leave a halo. That is clearly sludge.
This isn't from Wal-Mart or anyone in particular changing the oil. My guess is that this is more from lack of changing oil. Maybe the caption should read, "This is what 2 years without an oil change looks like."
@izzyocon nope ur way off man... im an a.s.e. certified technician i just know after gettin your car serviced at lube shops u drive away with problems after that... ive fixed their mistakes when they get towed to my shop...
Walmart doesnt even remove the drain plug from my knowledge, they vacuum out the oil from the fill hole. This is probably a collection of settlement that hadn't been cleaned out and whatever piss pour cheap oil they use.
Wal-mart does remove the drain plug, they let all of the oil drain out, they also torque the drain plug to manufacturer specs. I worked at a Wal-Mart tire and lube for a few years and honestly, I would trust them over a dealership or most other quick lube places. They are extremely strict about how everything is done there.
@icrolla I called walmart and specifically told them I had a mildly rounded drain plug that might need to be extracted, I had a new plug I just couldnt get the old one out with the 3 inches of clearance between my nose and the pan. They specifically told me that changing the oil would not be a problem because they never remove the bolt and instead use a machine that siphons the oil. IDK Walmarts are hit and miss, some are undoubtedly filled with only mentally disabled staff.
@icrolla Not the ones here. Impacts are used to remove/replace the plug. I have a dealer I worked for change my oil, I personally know the mechanic/service writer and its always done right and everything is greased also. It pays to know good mechanics and leave a dealer on very good terms.
hah holy hell that must have been flippin crazy?!! and 300,000 miles with a motor treated like that? lol i guess the japanese motors keep surprising me. any motor with a carb like pre 1978 ish would have a hard time passing 200,000 miles even if treated great. you know? well keep on a wrenchen bud! kudos on the 350 btw. bothin beats some good old fashoned HP
also Allante715, when my car is 80 years old and still running perfect(, mind you, she was made in 78 and is still in flawless condition), ill laugh at you cause you will have gone through 10 cars by then if your changing your oil every 10k miles. man, at the most, you should only go 4k miles. but ehhhh. its a stretch hah
@penrynpatriot I have friends who change oil once in 60,000 miles! They get 300,000 out of the engine. I'm not so brave. I go 4,000 or so. Except for my high HP Chevy 350, which I change every 1,000 miles. I'm not sure what would cause the jelly like stuff. Maybe blow by deposits accumulating in the crank and no oil changes. Excessive Blow by in my VW diesel rabbit ignited, came up past the rings and that little diesel took off like it had a Turbo! and a smoke screen like a Navy destroyer
synthetics are nice. but due to thier thickness, they drag down gas milage. and yes, in my lincoln 1000 miles is a stretch. i try to do it every 600 or so. its a show car and she sits 7 months out of the year. also, my ford has an inline 6, dirty motor and i tow alot. so i do it every 1000 atleast. its called taking care of your machinery. look on my profile at my lincoln.. showcar deserves it haha
thats driver error. its supposed to be done every 3k miles. in my lincoln, and ford i do it every 1000. the ppl owning this car must have gone 10,000 miles atleast.
This is why I change my own oil. Found out the place i was going to for years was shorting me an ENTIRE quart every time and then charging me for all 4... Also was giving me non-synthetic when i was paying for Mobil 1 full synthetic...
Wow, at my walmart, the last 2 times I went there he showed me my oil and oil filter. He also would ask if I wanted a new seal for the drain plug. It seems I always get the same person though. He's pretty honest and gives me a full service for basic price. You just have to watch them do it.
@yerboogieman You are supposed to change drain plug gasket whenever it is removed. Unless, your car has reusable rubber gasket.
Drain plug gasket is really a crush washer and they crush to make seal when bolt is tighten. If it is reused, it probably will still work and make seal as they can crush little bit more, but automotive shops should take chance at that. It is only a dollar or less each.
@gpuckit okay, lets assume that the owner got regular oil changes. The wal mart tech should have noticed something seriously wrong the previous oil change and let the customer know as anything that will cause that level of sludge doesn't just happen. That means at best the wal mart tech are morons. That is at best. At worst, they are frauds who told the guy they changed the oil and didn't. Most likely, they didn't change the filter and the cheap fram filters they use had a melt down.
Once my wife went into a National Tire and Battery and they did not change her oil. I now change my own only most of the time. If one of our cars is in a shop for something else and it's due for a change I'll have them do it. However, before I leave I check the dipstick to see if the oil is clean and make sure there is a new filter.
Yeah.... But I bet it only cost you $19.95!!! Just think the dealer would have charged $29.95. So over two years time that's $240 in savings... But I guess you can't buy a new engine with that.
oil is breaking down into crude form...this isnt from regular maintenance ive seen this before and it will start water thats black then the crude comes out yours still looks mixed not as bad yet but almost there, seafoam that bitch
I worked at a wal-mart tire lube express at one of thier super centers and I can tell you for a fact that wal-mart hires kids for 9 dollars an hour that cant even look up the right oil filter numbers. If you like the idea of your oil pan bolt being stripped out from over torque and leaving spots in your driveway then by all means get a wal-tard oil change, but if you dont want your car fucked up then go anywhere else. Seroiusly the kids they hire know ZERO and it's just not worth the risk.
@NOTy0urPUPPET It's not just wal-mart anymore, i'm 20 but i grew up in a family of mechanics and body shop owners. I see guys going even into their 30's that don't have the slightest clue how to work on their vehicles. People in general are idiots these days, and when it comes to the advances in automotive technology recently it's only made it worse... the difference in working on a 350 CI SBC or say an LS6 has become ridiculous... hell they probably dont even know what a tech2 is -.-
@NOTy0urPUPPET You do speak the truth there. I worked there and hated it because of the dipshits they hired there. I have done a-lot of major work on my own cars that is totally beyond what walmart does such as head gaskets, intake gaskets, Water pumps fuel pumps and much more. I had to "earn" my way to the shop. The manager did not know diddly about anything. The people they hired could not tell a difference between a screw driver from a bus driver. They broke things on a daily basis.
@oldspeedsi you are not a mechanic, dont try giving advice. no blown headgasket will cause this, this is sludge caused by not changing the oil for an extended amount of time. if you blow your headgasket and coolant gets in the oil, it only makes it really runny and tan colored. Sir.
@suprakilla2JZ I am truly speaking from experience. It was a small internal leak on #3 on a d16a1 and after less than week my oil had turned to goop. Just attempting to offer friendly advice pertaining to a strange issue.
I don't see how this relates to Walmart at all. It should be related to the vehicle and the owner...either from neglect, or from a motor that is known for sludging the oil. I ran 25,000 miles before I changed the oil on one of my cars ( no, that isn't a typo ) and the oil didn't look like that when I eventually got around to it. Of course, the engine burned a quart of oil every 3rd tank of gas, so it was getting a fresh supply often and I did change the filter at least once.
a oil change wouldnt look like that if all u was doing is a oil change even at walmart u put a treatment are something in it everybody is always down on walmart i know they miss up to but oil change every 2000 no
Wal-Mart stories from people I work with.1 guy was leaving service area looked in mirror saw a trail of oil behind him oil plug fell out.2 guy was leaving heard a little bang stopped and looked oil filter fell off.3 guy was leaving stepped on brake pedal it went all the way to floor they broke his brake line then threatened to have him arrested for swearing at them.I won't let Wally World put air in a bicycle tire.
Ok I dont get it u say Don't get oil changed at walmart but WTF u said u dont rember when u last had it changed if it been over 6mos your a moron that oil has to be 4years of never changing it

Keep shopping at China-Mart the economy is almost collapsed!
Then everyone can live like they do in China/India and the rest of the 3rd world rat holes.
rm250ar 3 months ago
This may not be an issue with Wal-Mart... in Europe, somefully synthetic oils, if mixed with other types of fully synthetic oils, perform this way. Mainly the VAG (VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat, Porsche) diesel units... if a "PD" oil is specified, then that's what must be used. Any subsequent top-ups must use the same oil, or they "jelly-up" like this.
MAPFWH 3 months ago
THAT IS the tail end of the oil. Notice at the begginning it flows free. all oil coagulants accumalate at the end of oil changes.
EGMAG 3 months ago
@EGMAG ive never seen it do that
darkeyce02 3 months ago
@EGMAG
the fuck are you on about?
i have changed the oil in my diesel toyota landcruiser and not ONCE have i seen oil do that. even when its at the end and its at its last drops it slowly drips out, its NEVER supposed to be chunky.
i've also done plenty of petrol engine cars and have NEVER seen it like that.
oil needs to be thin to circulate, JELLY oil obviously wont circulate.

OMG fuel or coolant in there
superhawkn 3 months ago
@superhawkn Coolant is typically 50% water and will emulsify making the oil look like a light creamy milk shake. Fuel will thin motor oil, and if you blot it on white paper it will leave a halo. That is clearly sludge.
kstinson 3 months ago
@superhawkn neither, it's crap oil
TheCobaltSSDriver 3 months ago
This isn't from Wal-Mart or anyone in particular changing the oil. My guess is that this is more from lack of changing oil. Maybe the caption should read, "This is what 2 years without an oil change looks like."

Walmart doesnt even remove the drain plug from my knowledge, they vacuum out the oil from the fill hole. This is probably a collection of settlement that hadn't been cleaned out and whatever piss pour cheap oil they use.
BlackandChrome 3 months ago
@BlackandChrome
Wal-mart does remove the drain plug, they let all of the oil drain out, they also torque the drain plug to manufacturer specs. I worked at a Wal-Mart tire and lube for a few years and honestly, I would trust them over a dealership or most other quick lube places. They are extremely strict about how everything is done there.
icrolla 3 months ago
@icrolla I called walmart and specifically told them I had a mildly rounded drain plug that might need to be extracted, I had a new plug I just couldnt get the old one out with the 3 inches of clearance between my nose and the pan. They specifically told me that changing the oil would not be a problem because they never remove the bolt and instead use a machine that siphons the oil. IDK Walmarts are hit and miss, some are undoubtedly filled with only mentally disabled staff.
BlackandChrome 3 months ago
@icrolla Not the ones here. Impacts are used to remove/replace the plug. I have a dealer I worked for change my oil, I personally know the mechanic/service writer and its always done right and everything is greased also. It pays to know good mechanics and leave a dealer on very good terms.

hah holy hell that must have been flippin crazy?!! and 300,000 miles with a motor treated like that? lol i guess the japanese motors keep surprising me. any motor with a carb like pre 1978 ish would have a hard time passing 200,000 miles even if treated great. you know? well keep on a wrenchen bud! kudos on the 350 btw. bothin beats some good old fashoned HP
penrynpatriot 3 months ago
also Allante715, when my car is 80 years old and still running perfect(, mind you, she was made in 78 and is still in flawless condition), ill laugh at you cause you will have gone through 10 cars by then if your changing your oil every 10k miles. man, at the most, you should only go 4k miles. but ehhhh. its a stretch hah
penrynpatriot 3 months ago
@penrynpatriot I have friends who change oil once in 60,000 miles! They get 300,000 out of the engine. I'm not so brave. I go 4,000 or so. Except for my high HP Chevy 350, which I change every 1,000 miles. I'm not sure what would cause the jelly like stuff. Maybe blow by deposits accumulating in the crank and no oil changes. Excessive Blow by in my VW diesel rabbit ignited, came up past the rings and that little diesel took off like it had a Turbo! and a smoke screen like a Navy destroyer
IExposeMormonism 3 months ago
synthetics are nice. but due to thier thickness, they drag down gas milage. and yes, in my lincoln 1000 miles is a stretch. i try to do it every 600 or so. its a show car and she sits 7 months out of the year. also, my ford has an inline 6, dirty motor and i tow alot. so i do it every 1000 atleast. its called taking care of your machinery. look on my profile at my lincoln.. showcar deserves it haha

jrooksable 3 months ago
thats driver error. its supposed to be done every 3k miles. in my lincoln, and ford i do it every 1000. the ppl owning this car must have gone 10,000 miles atleast.
penrynpatriot 3 months ago
@penrynpatriot
Every 1000 miles? Really? I use synthetics and change every year or 10000 miles.
Allante715 3 months ago
This is why I change my own oil. Found out the place i was going to for years was shorting me an ENTIRE quart every time and then charging me for all 4... Also was giving me non-synthetic when i was paying for Mobil 1 full synthetic...
kbent88 3 months ago
looks like a time when a lady came into a place i worked.
I asked when was the last time you changed the oil she look at me as
if i was crazy. She said every 3000 i said not a chance its like tar coming out.
showed her and she took pictures of it and said those bastards.
nosboostice 3 months ago
Wow, at my walmart, the last 2 times I went there he showed me my oil and oil filter. He also would ask if I wanted a new seal for the drain plug. It seems I always get the same person though. He's pretty honest and gives me a full service for basic price. You just have to watch them do it.
yerboogieman 4 months ago
@yerboogieman You are supposed to change drain plug gasket whenever it is removed. Unless, your car has reusable rubber gasket.
Drain plug gasket is really a crush washer and they crush to make seal when bolt is tighten. If it is reused, it probably will still work and make seal as they can crush little bit more, but automotive shops should take chance at that. It is only a dollar or less each.
lambition 3 months ago
@lambition One of my cars had a metal seal on it.

hows that a wal mart problum it could be an engine issue.
gpuckit 4 months ago
@gpuckit okay, lets assume that the owner got regular oil changes. The wal mart tech should have noticed something seriously wrong the previous oil change and let the customer know as anything that will cause that level of sludge doesn't just happen. That means at best the wal mart tech are morons. That is at best. At worst, they are frauds who told the guy they changed the oil and didn't. Most likely, they didn't change the filter and the cheap fram filters they use had a melt down.
ColdNapalm42 4 months ago
@gpuckit nothings going to cause that other then them just not changing the oil and charging him for it. 50k miles later oil becomes grease...

BodybuildingUniverse 4 months ago
Once my wife went into a National Tire and Battery and they did not change her oil. I now change my own only most of the time. If one of our cars is in a shop for something else and it's due for a change I'll have them do it. However, before I leave I check the dipstick to see if the oil is clean and make sure there is a new filter.

oil is breaking down into crude form...this isnt from regular maintenance ive seen this before and it will start water thats black then the crude comes out yours still looks mixed not as bad yet but almost there, seafoam that bitch
teamsterjeffrey 4 months ago
I worked at a wal-mart tire lube express at one of thier super centers and I can tell you for a fact that wal-mart hires kids for 9 dollars an hour that cant even look up the right oil filter numbers. If you like the idea of your oil pan bolt being stripped out from over torque and leaving spots in your driveway then by all means get a wal-tard oil change, but if you dont want your car fucked up then go anywhere else. Seroiusly the kids they hire know ZERO and it's just not worth the risk.
NOTy0urPUPPET 4 months ago
@NOTy0urPUPPET It's not just wal-mart anymore, i'm 20 but i grew up in a family of mechanics and body shop owners. I see guys going even into their 30's that don't have the slightest clue how to work on their vehicles. People in general are idiots these days, and when it comes to the advances in automotive technology recently it's only made it worse... the difference in working on a 350 CI SBC or say an LS6 has become ridiculous... hell they probably dont even know what a tech2 is -.-
NasferatuTheImmortal 4 months ago
@NOTy0urPUPPET You do speak the truth there. I worked there and hated it because of the dipshits they hired there. I have done a-lot of major work on my own cars that is totally beyond what walmart does such as head gaskets, intake gaskets, Water pumps fuel pumps and much more. I had to "earn" my way to the shop. The manager did not know diddly about anything. The people they hired could not tell a difference between a screw driver from a bus driver. They broke things on a daily basis.

coolant in the oil will cause this you have a bad head gasket. SUCKS
oldspeedsi 5 months ago
@oldspeedsi you are not a mechanic, dont try giving advice. no blown headgasket will cause this, this is sludge caused by not changing the oil for an extended amount of time. if you blow your headgasket and coolant gets in the oil, it only makes it really runny and tan colored. Sir.
suprakilla2JZ 4 months ago
@suprakilla2JZ I am truly speaking from experience. It was a small internal leak on #3 on a d16a1 and after less than week my oil had turned to goop. Just attempting to offer friendly advice pertaining to a strange issue.

I don't see how this relates to Walmart at all. It should be related to the vehicle and the owner...either from neglect, or from a motor that is known for sludging the oil. I ran 25,000 miles before I changed the oil on one of my cars ( no, that isn't a typo ) and the oil didn't look like that when I eventually got around to it. Of course, the engine burned a quart of oil every 3rd tank of gas, so it was getting a fresh supply often and I did change the filter at least once.
redfury111 8 months ago
a oil change wouldnt look like that if all u was doing is a oil change even at walmart u put a treatment are something in it everybody is always down on walmart i know they miss up to but oil change every 2000 no
