@worldtotal I think that you are talking about the pedestal. It is what is used for communications, helping capture loc, glideslope, it is on NAV 1 and 2. And all the other stuff is Rudder, Stab, Alieron Trim. Panel lights, Fire Control panel, ect....

He flies for RyanAir, RyanAir does not operate 747's. It is also unlikely that he came from another airline flying the 747, because it's common to be payed according to how many PAX they carried (maybe a slight increase in salary) so he would not downgrade to a 737.

My Father use to be a pilot for ryanair and left to work for Aerlingus. Ryanair are terrible to their staff! You would think pilots are respected by the airline they work for. but really ryanair dont care about their staff , they work them right up to the maximum hours possible.

No Ryanair was started up in the 80's and and Aer Lingus was started in the 30's. Ryanair just happens to co-own Aer lingus but hey what's wrong with taking advice from an airline who has 30 something hubs, about 190 airplanes, and still have cheap flights and done in less then 30 years. But I prefer Aer lingus cuz they care about customers.

I agree that ryanair are not the best airline, but for a pilot starting out and looking for a job the fact that the can get almost max hours in their first and second years is a good thing, in a few years when i'll be looking for a job(i'm only16)i'll prob work for ryanair, even though i've always want to fly for Aer Lingus. What i'm is that with ryanair, low hour pilots can gain experience and then when they feel the time is right they can move to a different airline.
