But zee Challenger II is underpowered with its 1200 hp engine, the one hit knock-out friendly fire incident doesn't stand out particularly well for it considering that they have had trouble destroying disabled Abrams at point blank range with the 120mm gun on it. The strength of the armor on the Abrams is to the point that if they abandon one in the field they need to use air support to take it out.

Its kind of dumb comparing losses between the two considering the numbers of the Abrams present

Abrahms : 80 Tanks were sent for repairs due to critical / destroyed by IED

Challenger : Not a single tank has been sent due to being destroyed or critical. Worst loss was the right leg of a driver.

Battle:

120 Challenger 2s assisted british troops in Basra. A Challenger 2 has also been reported as having survived 70+ RPGs aswell as another having survived 14 RPGs and a Milan AT at close range.

Abrams: No such durability noted.

Performance against other tanks:

Abrams: Defeated 7 T-72 Babils at point blank range. However the tank is severely outdated (ended production in 1990) and most likely couldn't deal with the M1A2's upgrades.

Challenger: Most notable achievements are only losing one Challenger 2 due to another Challenger 2 (Showing that only it can defeat itself) and that none were lost during the Invasion of Iraq.

Sure, you might have 2000-5000 Abrams, but we only need 400 Challenger 2s
