Thank God - finalmente someone to carry on the great tradition of American super-baritones: Tibbett, Weede, Warren, Merrill, MacNeil, Milnes Quilico & now Mr. Stearns. We bid you a welcome with open arms, sir!
Bravo Mr. Stearns. He has a phenominal voice. I got the opportunity to work with him in Rigoletto. Wonderful person, great personality and work ethic.... AMAZING resonance... my ears would buzz like crazy whenever he would sing.
He has a perfect voice for Verdi, Puccini and the like... He is stilll in wonderful form. I only wish there were more youtube videos from this wonderful baritone.
This man knows how to sing as the singers did in the Golden Age. He knows what pharyngeal resonance is. Why isn't he singing in all the major opera houses of the world? What a sad, pathetic time in which we live, when youngsters with six- pack abs who don't know how to sing correctly are "stars!" The people in charge mostly don't know ANYTHING about the singing art.
billyguns2, It is a sad pathetic time we live in. I don't like those six pack abs guys and the skinny little bimbos for that matter either. Most of them couldn't sing their way out of a paper bag.
Phe....nomenal!!!! Wow...I felt like I experienced his stage presence even though I watched it on a computer screen! Bravo Mr. Stearns...that voice is quite amazing!
Great good old age singing. Hello opera-directors! Wake up and get this amazing artist!!!

Bravo! What a magnificent performance - Stearns version of Scarpia is indeed a portrayal of what a jealous twisted lover should be.
