  • Jimi wasnt even in the band for horsedrawn wishes, he went on to do lotus crown, which was alright, Griffin did Kid Silver which is insanely brilliant, that fucking voice is from heaven and hell

  • Someone has also uploaded the video for "Miss Leader" yeeaaaaaah!

  • i saw shake play (which became RSS after Shields joined the band), they were pretty good, kinda ok, been playing around town for years without much success...then about 6 months later I saw RSS with Shields in the band: they were incredible, like a completely new thing, the change was unbelievable. It was obvious he had a huge impact.

  • @crackednose here here, i saw the change too, shake were ok, then Shields arrived, RSS was born and they were suddenly phenomenal, and making records!

  • @crackednose jimi shields wasnt in the band on horsedrawn wishes, he was kicked out after shoulder voices

  • I was just at a Mercury Rev show on Dec 16th, and they had Rollerskate in their opening film clip that they took the stage to.

  • what kind of clip was it?

  • It was a montage of images they like, but mostly music that is important to them. I believe they used the cover from Shoulder Voices among images of every amazing band you can imagine 70s through the 90s, and some images of Mercury Rev. I don't recall any recent bands being included.

  • I'm currently uploading both albums dudes. It'll take a while cos I'm busy though.

  • Not just one of the best Irish tracks of the nineties - one of the best tracks of the nineties period.

  • one of the most inovative, enigmatic and overlooked groups in the history of Irish rock music.

  • Ger Griffin is recording stuff again under the name of Super Electric - very RSS sounding. It's on myspace.

He was interviewed a while ago and said that there's an unreleased 3rd RSS album recorded that may yet see the light of day, but not as part of a reunion.

  • arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - RS are an amazing band!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nobody ever told me that this sort of thing could come alive.

    I can never get enogugh

  • I've been annoyed for a while that all they had at the RS site was a clip. I was hoping someone had the full version. Is this the only video they made? Horsedrawn Wishes is one of my top five albums of all time.I can't believe the sound they created-- so dense but unbelievably melodic too. Liked Kid Silver quite a bit. Favorite Sons is hit and miss, much more simple and raw, but there is that voice he has, certainly! If I ever get to see them in NYC I'm going to ask for some RS songs!

  • It's the only video I've found. Probably yes, they haven't recorded anything else. If you like RS and Kid Silver check out Lotus Crown. They're also quite good

  • I'm not sure, but I think I can remember a video for Miss Leader in the early 90s?

  • this song saved my life in 97. First saw it on No Disco - blew my mind. God bless Donal Dineen

  • Brilliant!!!! I haven't heard this in a lifetime, one of the best Irish bands ever...what a song, i'm getting shivers just listening to it now!!

  • Thank you so much for posting. Reminds me of being in Freakscene in Sir Henrys. I think they were one of the best bands in the 90s.

  • Yeah exactly the same for me, i miss Sir Henrys.

  • Anyone know where this video was shot? Looks like The Rock Garden (now Eamonn Dorans)...

  • It's so awesome that someone posted this. Horsedrawn Wishes was one of the best albums of that era. It's a shame that some people dismissed Rollerskate Skinny after Jimi Shields left the band, because they got better. This song is a testament to that.

  • Hell yeah, this song kicks ass. And so does this band. yeah.

  • this is class, people kinda forgot about them but is cool to see this again, the guitarist has started doin his own thing now nd sounds reaaallly good, its called superelectric66, saw it on myspace, its well worth a listen

  • This is bloody great :-))

  • saw these guys touring shoulder voices in cork, happy days...ahh.thanks for posting

  • Quality!

  • I've been waiting for someone to post this!

    THANK YOU!!!

  • Saw these guys on No Disco years ago, bought the album and never heard anymore about them - whatever happened - they were wicked

  • love this song. what'd they have like $100 budget for this video?

  • Without a doubt, one of the greatest records ever. Definitely one of my top tens. It's up there with Loveless, IMHO.

More people need to hear Horsedrawn Wishes!

  • This has been too long coming, I have the video on an old tape of 120 mins, but had no way to digitize it, and the quality is nowhere near this good. Thank you for posting this! Means a lot to see it again looking so good.

  • Thanks for that. I must track it down ASAP

  • This is great stuff. Surely on on the best Irish tracks ever. Is there a Rollerskate Skinny album I can get this on (as opposed to a compilation album)? Are they still together?

  • No, sadly, the band is now defunct. This song was on their second album - Horsedrawn Wishes.

  • The Rollerskate albums are pretty out-of-print, you only really NEED Horsedrawn Wishes. His next band, Kid Silver's one album "Dead City Sunbeams" is AWESOME, in my top ten, but I think that's probably out-of-print now too. His new band, Favourite Sons, is cool, but a departure in this style. I don't recall any synths on it anywhere.

  • Don't forget about shoulder voices, and there have been other bands formed from this band, lotus crown and wounded knees are some of them.

  • about fucking time!

    best band ever.

  • Thank you so much for uploadin this. U've made me very happy indeed :)

  • Yay! At last someone has the full version up. Cheers!
