@hikary456 Especially because it's wrong. He was not deaf when he wrote this, though he did have some hearing loss. But he was completely deaf when he wrote the ninth symphony which is just as famous as this one.

JUST OPEN YOUR MIND!! and don't froget MUSIC IS GREAT MUSIC IS LIFE!!!
but before you completely drag me credibility through the mud, I will allow you the knowledge that I grew up In a very educated household and have been listening to many great composers before I was even born(in the womb, if your ingoramous mind doesn't have the ability to process that) and I can say, that Mrs Steffani Joann Angeline Gormanatta is a very intelligent and educated woman, and her music, (if you actually own her ablums, all 6 of them) is composed...
@parkourip extremely well, and she is a being that is has more intellect and capacity to be such. And in case you weren't aware of this, Herr Beethoven was considered mentally(and morally) impaired due to that face that the scores he composed were to volatile in nature(contrary to what music was like at the time) and he was considered by many to be insane. So before you decide to exploit your insecurites and the fact that you'll be forgotten when you die, respect others. And remember
Older generations were taught to search for and appreciate excellence wherever they find it, not in image, but in substance; the kind that comes from great skill developed over a long period of time. This is why Beethoven is remembered 200 years later. Young people, go for those things that will endure.
I think im the only one on the planet that has the classics like Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Stravinski, Wagner, and Rachmaninov on my ipod, yet i have Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Queen, Elton John, David Bowie, The Stones, The Doors, The Who, Metallica, Pantera, August Burns Red, Skrillex, Datsik, Excission, and Afro Jack.

@bott14 Nope. There's nothing odd about that at all. Good music is good music. Whether it's rock, pop, bluegrass, classical, jazz or whatever. Hats off to you for not being a musical snob lol
@Fiolsthu95 I'll spoil haters the joy of calling me an idiot because "I don't know Beethoven isn't baroque" (now that i re-read my comment i see it's an easy target). I know his music is between classical and romatic styles.

My God, even on Beethoven pieces you get people commenting on Lady Gaga. Why bother? i don't think Beethoven's popularity or greatness is going to be bothered much by any pop sensation of the moment.
Powerful!! God's love for mankind is expressed beaitifully by Ludwig Von Beethoven...he overcame so much...speech probs as youth...auditory probs @ the height of his career & he brilliantly persevered as an inmortal icon of classical music!! Love it!!
All you narcissistic fucks should be ashamed of yourselves. Who are you to say what's better than something else? @thedeadbeatdsg It would be impossible for someone who can truly enjoy and fully experience Beethoven's music to think at the same time that Lady Gaga is a "genius" that would be like saying you can both appreciate the flavour of human faeces and the most exquisite and elaborated cuisine and that they are both equal and comparable.
@acethegreat101 Obviously, I was simply using "faeces" as a synonym of Lady Gaga, the metaphor part started when I compared Beethoven's music to high quality cuisine.
@derpestarzt aha good :) "flavour" Canadian? I am :) getting back on topic, I love metal and hard rock music (and Jazz), but I appreciate the music of the Classical and Romantic era to no end :)
@thedeadbeatdsg Absolutely agree - I don't actually like Lady Gaga much but I love Dire Straits, Foreigner, Steve Winwood, Jackson Brown etc ( most from my own generation admittedly) as well as being passionate about Berlioz, Sibelius, Rachmaninov etc. etc. It' absurd to say you can only like one kind of music.

@XwashburnbassplayerX No matter what the music is still magnificent. all you´re doing is trying to downplay his achivements by saying stupid stuff noone cares about (and you can´t even be sure of because he died almost 200years ago). Anyways, the way I see it Beethoven was one of the most selfless persons the world has seen, I mean he wrote the 9th (one of the greatest musical pieces ever) completely deaf when could have just retired depressed. And please don´t bother answering to me.I dont care
I find it very amazing, How he wrote A very happy and enjoying song such as "Ode To Joy" and yet he wasn't able to hear the Joy of his own Symphony.....Kind-of Ironic
@demonkingj that is exactly right because John Williams, the soundtrack producer for starwars, derived his musical influence from classical composers such as Beethoven. If you really wanna hear the explicit thematic resemblance between the 5th symphony and the Star Wars main them, listen to the 4th movement ;)
@zjfox43 Beethoven was a nice man. He used his time to explore universal tones, and he produced the most beautiful and most powerful music. What a great treasure to the world!
@toni4branti Actually it is widely accepted that Beethoven was hot-headed and irritable, probably due to his health (stomach problems and gradually deteriorating hearing, which must have been beyond frustrating for a musical genius). That doesn't lessen his genius or the beauty of his music at all though.
Ironic that this symphony was the foreshadow to his hearing loss, and that the 9th was the symphony that was during the actual complete deafness. Most would think he would write something more depressing for the 9th, but being Beethoven he just wrote what he wanted to. I love you Beethoven!!
@cbinasoy he actually was completely deaf by his sixth. All because he went to the doctors and what they tried to do what to "cure" his deafness in a sense so they would pour hot wax in his ears and take hot pokers and shove them into his ears hoping to get the "wad of wax" that was causing his hearing loss. Needless to say, when they put the poker in, they actually broke his ear drum causing pretty much full hearing loss. But, his deafness didn't go public till I think his performance of the 6
There was me, that is Alex, and my three Droogs.

I heard He was a crimanal. Just an aweful man who raped, murdered and did very aweful things inmcluding sleep with his brothers wife. in fact this is a funny story this song is about the reaper coming tot ake him to hell and him barring all the doors trying to esape, thats what the pounding is the reapers staff pounding on the door.

@XwashburnbassplayerX Who cares if he was a criminal. He composed fantastic music, that's what counts.

1974chocywhocy i'm sorry but you are sadly mistaken
I am a rock fan myself and somewhat of a metal head
yet i can still appreciate the musical genuis that is ludwig van beethoven
and leaving a comment like that really shows ur lack of musical variety
just cause you can't fall in love with a guns n roses track doesn't mean other people can't

beethoven musie is the best in the world but people like that remixing musie and rock and roll they dont know what musie is and they NEVER WILL.

I am 19, a rocker and still love Beethoven. He was great, and is my hero. Wasn't a nice guy, but he was talented and wrote with a lot of feeling.
zjfox43 1 year ago
@zjfox43 Beethoven was a nice man. He used his time to explore universal tones, and he produced the most beautiful and most powerful music. What a great treasure to the world!
toni4branti 1 year ago
@toni4branti Actually it is widely accepted that Beethoven was hot-headed and irritable, probably due to his health (stomach problems and gradually deteriorating hearing, which must have been beyond frustrating for a musical genius). That doesn't lessen his genius or the beauty of his music at all though.

I don't know if its me but 3:50 - 4:06 sounds a bit Star Wars like. Overall Piece is very good.

@demonkingj Yeah, but it must be said in the chronological order, the other way round: Star Wars sound a bit like this at some point....

Ironic that this symphony was the foreshadow to his hearing loss, and that the 9th was the symphony that was during the actual complete deafness. Most would think he would write something more depressing for the 9th, but being Beethoven he just wrote what he wanted to. I love you Beethoven!!
cbinasoy 1 year ago
@cbinasoy he actually was completely deaf by his sixth. All because he went to the doctors and what they tried to do what to "cure" his deafness in a sense so they would pour hot wax in his ears and take hot pokers and shove them into his ears hoping to get the "wad of wax" that was causing his hearing loss. Needless to say, when they put the poker in, they actually broke his ear drum causing pretty much full hearing loss. But, his deafness didn't go public till I think his performance of the 6
