As much as i like glee, the christmas episode seemed like one big advertisement for the christmas album. Sure, finchel fans were pleased because they got an almost storyline, rory fans got a song, but everyone else were pretty much ignored. I hope the next episode is better. Especially since they're making us wait til the 17th.
This episode was just boring. I wish the episode was more of a story rather than an attempt to fit as many Christmas songs into one episode as possible. Last years episode was so much better. It had Rachel and Finn drama, Baby it's cold Outside for the fangirls, and Sue turning into the Grinch. At least that episode had events that affected the rest of the season rather than being a complete useless episode that did nothing other than establish that Sam and Rory now friends.
@MistyeyedNStarrified Pointless. So pointless. Didn't really like most of the songs. It was awful. It hurt everywhere. The mechanism for the songs "Lets get gassed" was AWFUL.
@TowerlightVideo Lol. I figured. But come now, it wasn't completely pointless. The subplots moved the season arc. That's something, right? And considering the episode is very much like its titular character (random and funny, yet superfluous), it was kinda fitting. I thought it was fun and Heather got to really shine!
How nice discussing difference of opinion can be when kept civil, eh? ;)
@MistyeyedNStarrified Civil? ON THE INTERNET?! LE GASP. The subplots were addressed in such a way that if you missed this episode, you wouldn't miss much at all. Just pure fluff as it were.
And anytime Heather Morris gets to shine is a good day.
I think this episode would've been much better if the homeless shelter bit had been scrapped and instead it had spent time on ALL the couples celebrating their first Christmas together. And while Sam and Rory missing their families was fine, what about Santana? The music was okay. I actually liked the TV special, though the Star Wars thing was pointless. And, as always, I'm irritated over the fact Rachel has to screw up royally, merely to learn a lesson by the end. I mean, EVERY episode. Why?
@MistyeyedNStarrified I wish they would've focused on all the couples as well! I was looking forward to the Klaine gift, Mike & Tina, Puck, Quinn.... This episode completely undermined everyone's roles except Finn and Rachel's, who were the only ones with some sort of plot, as unnecessary as it was.
It's like I was on drugs while watching this episode, lol. It was one of those episodes that had no point. I didn't like the sitcom thing because I had no idea what was going on. I thought it was too cheesy and the jokes weren't funny. I guess it was something about Judy Garland but I don't watch 60s sitcoms or Star Wars. I didn't like it at all tbh.
Why do you think the writers give so many cute Klaine moments but like no real moments for Brittana? It makes me sad.
@TowerlightVideo I get what they were trying to do, with the special being so cheesy and everything. I just felt like it wasn't funny, and it went on for too long. Plus it was just the typical Rachel, Blaine, and Kurt Show. Quinn and Tina were barely in it, like always. The editing in the beginning seemed really choppy, and having Blaine in Sue's office with Kurt and Artie was pointless, since he didn't even speak.
Most Christmas specials if not all of them are not meant to have much story development, its ideal to have an episode that years from now you can watch it in Christmas without the need to know what is going on in that certain time frame on the plot with the characters and still understand whats going on. you know the black chick likes the blond big mouth guy and that guys in the special are gay and a couple...
This was an enjoyable episode. LOVED the b/w Xmas sitcom special. I agree about a Blaine/Kurt sitcom. It almost reminded me of The Dick Van Dyke show they way everyone was dressed.
That episode was awful!!!! One of the worst episode's ever. It was basically a fucking commercial for their album. Hey Glee, thanks for shoving that shit down my throat.
Also, in the cut scene, Blaine gives Kurt a promise ring made of bubblegum wrappers because he can't afford the jewelry from the Elizabeth Taylor collection that Kurt wants (which was alluded to in the special). It's apparently supposed to be a symbol and a promise to be "Kurt's boy" or something like that. Either way, it's cute. ^_^ And now you know.
I agree with a lot of reviews I've read online that say that they wish that the Klaine Christmas Special had just been the episode. I feel that since all of the plot from this season has been resolved, they could've easily just done a crack episode where the whole thing's set in the sixties. I would've preferred that a LOT more than the whole Rachel plot (or even Rory and Sam, because that wasn't even really developed).
Part 2: AND, for continuity (like that's ever mattered), it was insinuated in Blaine's first eps, that he came from a well off family (something about knowing not everyone could afford Dalton). My one dislike of the show: When the kids sang Feed the World at a homeless shelter. The song was great and the fact that the proceeds are going to charity is awesome But, going to a soup kitchen & singing about the starving kids in Africa to a room full of homeless families? Bad taste & a bit offensive.
Part 1: I totally agree that the Klaine Christmas special was cheesy, over the top and totally WONDERFUL. It had a fun feel to it. As to the Klaine scene that was cut, I think it was appropriate; from what I hear it was a 'token gift' because Blaine couldn't afford a real gift. We covered that with Finn giving the African Sowpig to Rachel.
Absolutely loved the Klaine Christmas Special. It was cheesy and over the top on purpose. I don't understand how people don't see that.
I'm still pissed that they cut Santa Baby and of course the Klaine gift scene. I was sooo excited for this scene, I still can't believe they cut it. Come on, Blaine gives a sort of promise ring to Kurt and you cut it? Instead we get 3 scenes of Rachel being a selfish bitch, who magically becomes a saint at the end.
This was actually one of my least favourite episodes of all time! I actually love Kurt and Blaine but the sitcom thing was stupid. They cut some really great songs. Santa baby anyone? I felt the episode was just an advert for the glee christmas cd. No story line what so ever other than Rachel, yawn. Don't hate me, it's just my opinion.
how did i not find the whole black and white kurt and blaine show cute? umm because number it wasn't funny, number 2 it was boring as hell. they cut santa baby for this shit??? but kurt and blaine are cute. But come on! that whole black and white thing was just cringe cringe!! and i hate that the way Brittana is treated with so much double standered! its frustrating! but yh other than that..mehh
I loved it, and I wasn't expecting too. The black and white bit was so great- So much fun to watch. I love it when they take risks like that. I don't know if it is because Morrison was directing or what, but this seemed to work for me more than some of the other episodes of the season. The way the performances were shot felt great. Caring more for Mercedes too now. What was the "end-times" line, did anyone else not get that? Also I wish they'd just stop doing Original songs, they are all bad.
@SarahLeeAnn The end times line was a joke about global warming. The original song in this episode was inoffensive. Its nice to see them do it and it shuts up the "Glee only does covers" ranters.
@TowerlightVideo I get that it was about Global Warming, but it fell weird and I didn't really get what they were trying to do with it. It's funny because they were trying to make everything lighthearted in the special? I must just be dense.
I found this episode incredibly cheesy. I couldn't help but laugh at it. I guess that was the point though.
And I totally agree with your comment that Doctor Who Rory beats Glee Rory, easily. It makes me wonder what they are going to do with the other Glee Project winner who got 7 eps. I hope he actually does something...
@gemofgems I think the character he plays was a character already in mind for the show (Sue's arch-nemesis or something?), so I think he'll have a lot more to do.
oh and something else you can think about until January. Sam we had siblings and parents. blaine nothing. I know he was hired to be a prop for the kurt story line as was kurofsky. but he is a major player, for him to still be a prop is ridiculous. now they bring in sebastian and I think OK, finally a blaine story line. but the last couple episodes its centered around kurt and sebastian. really. come on. bring the blaine back story
@brnigrlfl1 I do find it funny Blaine is basically functioning as the stereotypical TV girlfriend. Much like Tina, he doesn't get ANY storylines outside of helping his significant other. Except punching a punching bag and talking about Fight Club. The problem, and as much as I would LOVE to see this, if they did Blaine and Sebastian stuff, fans would freak out that they were trying to break Kurt and Blaine up.
@TowerlightVideo I hate how Blaine is only Kurt's boyfriend most of the time. I absolutely adore Klaine, but can't they give Blaine a real storyline? There is so much potential, with his gay bashing ('Prom Queen') and his relationship with his father ('Sexy') for example. Still waiting for an episode focused on Blaine (and I don't mean song-wise). so here is a rant. rib said that they want viewers to see that straight couples and gay couple are the same. so.. why is it that. after sex the straight couple fall deeper in love and the gay couple.. umm just had sex.? I think they are acting more platonic then they did before sex.
@brnigrlfl1 WORD! And that is all I kept noticing this ep. They never touch, and it makes for a sort of hard to follow love story. (freaking watch Blaine's 'hey buddy' pats... um? ) Bah, I sit through all that Finchel crap.
@SarahLeeAnn Well lets be fair. During the actual Christmas bit we wouldn't actually see any Gay kisses and what not. Lest we forget, this was on a PBS affiliate in Ohio. They would NOT get away with that. This was referenced with the fact Kurt called Blaine his "room mate."

This was just okay.. the songs were as usual really great plot lagged extremely long
The "Christmas special" was painfully cheesy even by Glee standards!
I laughed out loud when Sue called Blaine "young Burt Reynolds" I liked his reaction that was funny
I liked Rachel's Christmas selfishness cuz it was way like her character.
I didn't get Sam's Non- Cherry Christmas Stance at all it just didn't make sense to me
Also the Rory character is just boring now.
