@VictrolaJazz You are right., I'ts one of these tunes which always sound great: even when someone plays it with one finger on piano.

@syncopeter Very interesting. Indeed, what you are refering to is probably a question of bandleader's attitude to his musicians. Whether he lets them - or not - be sometimes not only modes in the machine but also individuals, artists. It's also how sometimes played the finest swing bands of the late 1930s, e.g. Ziggy Elman's or Benny Goodman's
