This dog had multiple and extreme behavorial issues - one of which was door bolting - and a dragline (an acceptable practice) was necessary to prevent her from getting struck by a car/becoming lost. We recommend cutting the handle of the leash to reduce risk but the decision is ultimately the dog's owner to make. Anything is possible - even leaving a collar on a dog has risk - but in over 25-yrs of training dogs I have never heard of a dog strangling on a dragline. .

Why do you leave the leash on when you leave? Can't she get tangled in something?

Hi! She's a mix from a shelter - we think she's terrier/shitzu.

What kind of dog is Mollie? She bears an uncanny resemblance (in appearance and behavior) to my male Chinese Crested Powderpuff!
