  • I love my pontiac Vibe <3

  • ops I mean not toyota ist.. I mean versus Toyota Cardina..

  • want to see vibe GT vs toyota iST new one..

and next one.. Vibe's Copy toyota Japanese design if they come by Matrix..

  • You would think he would know that the Matrix is built in Canada and the Vibe was built in California. Not side by side,... sorry.

  • @ZiggZagg11 "Survey says" Oh no! try California at the soon to be defunct NUMMI plant

  • I just rented one of these with the 2.4 16 valve it runs pretty good but the workmanship and quality are lacking, the price is low enough but now after driving one I can see why. tin can with wheels.

  • Just bought the 2.4 liter 5 speed with the cash for clunkers rebate and a $2500 manufacturer/dealer rebate, came out to a grand total of $11000. You can't buy a decent used car for that price, and yeah I know it's discontinued, all the better not every Joe & Jill will have one.

  • yah im about to get a good deal on either a 2009 or 2010. B-) with the summer close out and a gm discount. i'll be paying a similar price.

  • Luv that car, got the 2.4 liter engine 148 horses. Faster and handles a lot better then Datzun Z car i had years ago. Great Price with

toyota internals. Can't say I have any complaits.

  • I just rented one. Great car. Since Pontiac is going away, GM should move this model to Chevy to keep selling them. It would be a waste not to sell this car anymore.

  • @2008ljr Unfortunately the Vibe is a Toyota. It is a Pontiac version of the Toyota Matrix, and the Matrix is the hatchback version of the Corolla, so there's still the Corolla if you want it. Still, I recommend you wait for the Chevy Cruze. HHR might work too.

  • @2008ljr GM might have to make a contract with Toyota if they do want to sell the Pontiac Vibe since engine does come from Toyota.

  • Looks a lot better than the Matrix.

  • I agree looks better than matrix and its got a pontiac badge on it. That's why we buy them.

  • of course its good its an American Made Toyota

  • I own an 09 Vibe GT and let me tell you...it is awesome! Yes the interior is a study in hard plastic, but what do you want for a car under $20k? It's comfortable, roomy, reliable, fun and useful for hauling people and stuff. It also handles really nicely in the snow without having to have AWD.

I don't think you can go wrong with this car.

  • i got an 09 vibe gt too and it's awsome! looks great too. it looks good in pictures and videos but the GT looks great in person.

  • Hey! Yes I know you from the GenVibe forums...musicmanmu!

  • haha how's it going? GT rocks!

  • love mine..i have a gt manual.. its a great car in the snow...why waste gas and money on awd. this does fine. The inside is easy to wipe out when i drag my mountainbike out of the back.. both wheels on. its a little cheap inside, but i dont want to be wrecking a lexus when im dragging my gear in and out. Its fun to drive for a toy hauler.. beats a minivan or suv.

  • Good point about handling in snow...I was worried about how it would do, but it does drive great in snow. And yes, the interior plastic is a bit cheap and scratches easy. I just bought some thick felt cloth for the back for like $10 to protect it.

  • There are a lot of things wrong in this.

Toyota Matrix is built in Ontario, Canada. They are mechanically identical however. Old Vibe's GT engine was a swap from the Celica GT, not a "Hopped up version of the old 1.8L".. Probably should get your facts straight.

  • Thanks Toyota for another great product

Thanks GM for making toyota the #1 automaker in the world last year 2008 on a "bad economy" your talking about

cya later and eat my dust !

  • Good review, thanks for posting.

  • i rode in an 07 vibe...while being a good car, the only flaws i could find were the engine was a tad buzzy, typical for a 1.8, and the pontiacs build quality wasnt that impressive, center armrest was aligned properly and it jiggled back and fourth.

  • I like the looks of this wagon! IMO, Pontiac definitely wins in the style category; the Matrix is fugly as sin. Toyota offers Navi with it--big whoop! I do wish there was full iPod integration with the Vibe though. I thought there was supposed to be a kit to remedy this error? Still, much love to Vibe; I think it's awesome.

  • This looks WAY better than the ugly ass Matrix.

  • I agree with you 100% of the way hahaha

  • I'm confused... wasn't Toyota supposed to be the conservative looking cars and Pontiac were supposed to be the "looking" cars. I mean they upgraded the Matrix look indefinitely but this car looks like it got bigger and new tail lamps and quit?

  • What are you talking about. it is almost COMPLETLY different.

  • The interior is about as ugly as they come! I like the Caliber much better! Much better looking and more powerful.

  • lol have you driven the caliber? it's slow compared to the vibe. it might have 170'ish hp but 0-60 is around 10 seconds or more. unless you're talking about the srt one then that's a different category. plus, the caliber interior looks far cheaper than the vibe. i've test drove both.

  • I own a Caliber R/T (non AWD) and it would kick the ass off the POS Vibe hands down. Don't go by magazine numbers. As always...they under rate vehicles. The interior of the Caliber looks much better than the Vibe. Yes, there is some hard plastic, but Pontiac has always had shitty interiors and this continues in this model.

  • well there you go...people are always bias to what they have. since i don't have either one of them, i only test drove them and the new vibe gt wins hands down!

  • I test drove both and the Vibe is a POS! Caliber wins hands down! You couldn't give me that FUGLY looking box on wheels. Basically all you're buying is a Toyota with a Pontiac name plate and they still couldn't get the car right....

  • well have fun with your caliber then. let me know when it breaks down lol

  • You'll be waiting a while honey....I bet your Toyota...I mean Pontiac breaks first!

  • well guess what...today at the shop i was getting an oil change and there was a caliber getting something fixed. i asked the owner and he said this was the 3rd visit to the shop in two months for various problems. he hates the caliber and told me he's getting an accord...but he doesn't like the vibe tho...i guess he was a caliber fan boy like you...until he got fed up with the cheap ass car lol

  • Yes, it will break down. LoL! Check Vibe reliability with the Caliber. The Caliber doesn't come close.

  • LOL I have a caliber awd as a Fleet car and no wonder it only cost 15 000$ cnd awd... It's way more cheaper all around than the new vibe or matrix 2009. How do you like you plastic on plastic sliding console! hahahaha

  • Vibe FTW.

  • Pontiac Vibe = Toyota Matrix.... I think is the best choice nowadays.

  • Comment removed

  • I mean look Toyota Caldina GT four door pictures, not ist. they look better.

  • i guess you're still living in the 90's...get your head out of your ass...pontiac has gotten a lot better now.

  • with the help of toyota ;)

  • $21,000 for a vibe is just to much..

  • gm sucks pussy!!!! seriously

  • vibe looks better than the matrix

  • true that

  • omg...they placed a VVT-I engine on a vibe! :O

  • Who would buy a matrix?

It's essentially the same thing as a vibe.

It doesnt support the big 3 or our economy

    It's more expensive.

    It's got a shorter warranty.

It looks worse than the vibe.

    Anyone? Anyone?

  • I would buy one ( ^ ' . ' ^ ), yes they are the same although slight differences for example: destination fee, Matrix (25 City/31) Vibe (26 City/32 Highway, $1000-2000 base price difference,Anti-corrosion warranty Miles & Months Matrix(Unlimited & 60,000) Vibe 100,000 & 72000) everything else is dead even, Matrix has a sporty style but the Vibe has more masculinity....

  • The Toyota has better resale value!

  • TRUE!

  • They are the same car. They are made in the same plant... Toyota builds more cars in the US now than Chevy does... which is more American?

  • chevy builds there cars in mexico

  • Nope. Toyota builds these in California.

  • yes they do build it mexico...depends what toyota ur talking about cuz they r mostly made in japan

  • Nope. Toyota has plants in Kentucky, Texas, Indiana, California,Ontario,Mississippi,Alabama, and West Virgina. Most North American sold Toyotas are built in the US or Canada. They have NO plants in Mexico.

The Matrix, Corolla, Vibe are built in California.

The name of the plant is New United Motor Manufacturing in Fremont, California.

  • no smart ass intended, but is it a converted geo/corolla plant, just wondering:)

    i think its freemont!

  • The Matrix is also built in Cambrige, Ontairo.

  • i had no idea canada was involved in the production, thanks:)

  • nicer looking and better materials

  • VIBE 4 LIFE!

  • i just think your racist dude agaoinst japanese ppl

  • nice lol 2nd comment

  • Looks decent. Didn't like the old one, but this seems a bit better. Thanks Myride for keeping us posted!

    1st :) (again)

  • grow up...this me first thing is so lame and gay.

  • Don't look then. Not like I try to be 1st.
