I was there in Oct 1966 when JJ Carrol of 3/4 bought the farm on what was later called Mutters Ridge Elevation 400 North of the Rockpile, south of DMZ. I was a FO with Echo 2/9, laying in the tall grass a few hills away.Watch them stack KIA men like cord wood. In Nov I was working out of Artillery Hill renamed Camp Carroll at some point. I ended my tour getting WIA on Hill 861 patrolling out of Khe Sanh March 16, 1967. Hard climbing, great swimming, tough enemy. And the beat goes on!
Dan fimed this while serving with the 3/3 marines in Vietnam. I added one of our favorite songs by the Animals.
