you gotta give him props for writing this song! but i personally i like the sound of dave matthews and tim reynolds doing this better. Still an awesome song
Firewalker 5264, if you like his production work with U2, check out the Wrecking Ball album he produced with Emmy Lou Harris. Not your mama's country sound.
I came to this great artist by way of Wilie Nelson and Emmylous Harris' version of this song. Now I've begun exploring more of this man's work and it's wonderful.
by the way I LOVE your Daniel Lanois video that you put up. It really doesnt make this guy a furry douche loving fag it now makes im A HOMO LOVING FRENCH FURRY FAGGOT DOUCHEBAG WHO CRYS EVERY NIGHT BECAUSE DAVE MATTHEWS TOOK HIS GAY SONG "THE MAKER" AND JUST FUCKED HIM UP THE ASS WITH IT BECAUSE IT WENT FROM BEING A SONG THAT SUCKS DICK FROM BEING A MASTERPIECE. This guy should be on his knees thanking Dave Matthews because if it wasnt for Dave i would have never heard if this douchelicker
I remember watching him being interviewed on MuchMusic (Canada's MTV) and thinking, "who does this joker think he is?". Then they played "The Maker" video ... I was blown away. Amazing. I was lucky to see him perform in Ottawa around this time. Then later in Toronto and San Francisco. Thank you Daniel Lanois!
jagr456 you are a dumb ass...something I have come to expect from DMB fans. This man is a master and is more famous for his art than Dave will ever be with his pop/jam trash.
Wow! Thank you for this. I hadn't seen this version. Lanios is incapable of making anything that's not a masterpiece, whether in his producing or in his own music. Personally I prefer his own and I don't especially like covers of his work. You're right. Acadie is just a transcendent album. In the gold top edition he explains how each layer of each track was made and sometimes parts of each song added much later. He saves everything. Thank God.
i agree with others here - ACADIE is simply one of the best releases ever made. and to think most people have never heard it! i love the moody atmospheric quality to it. simply gorgeous. besides creating his own music, Lanois is a wizard in the studio, too, and a wonderful producer. yeah, just listen to what he did for Emmy Lou Harris on WRECKINGBALL...
Much prefer the studio version with its fantastic bass line...but someone with corporate interests decided to force it off of YouTube as though, through some abstract mechanism, somebody was losing money from it being there.

A very unusual version of this song. Acadie is in my top ten album, with the album that Dan produce for Emmylou HARRIS "Wrecking Ball".
Thanks for this interesting video!

The Omnichord is really easy, and sounds great.

Apparently the Qchord is the current incarnation of the omni? Is it expensive?
roadtorinpoche 4 years ago
Yeah, Q Chords about about £200. I got my Omnichord for £120.
