  • you gotta give him props for writing this song! but i personally i like the sound of dave matthews and tim reynolds doing this better. Still an awesome song

  • Suzuki Omnichord

  • I just downloaded this mp3 at instantmp3s..com

  • The BEST ever. There are hardly words to describe this man.

  • perfect

  • This is DEFINITELY going on my playlist for iTunes

  • Superb version. What is Lanois playing here?

  • what'S he playing there ?

  • Electric Autoharp

  • @SouthCarolinaSinger

    Suzuki Omnichord (to be precise).

  • That was going to be my next guess. LOL

  • i prefer the original , whit the sling blade instrument its very nice ,

  • I'm sorry, i know this is Daniel Lanois original, but DMB does such a better version. Tim and Dave rock this song~

  • this is first time i have heard the original, dave matthews band covers it very well..

  • true buddy, i liked that song immediatly, especially the base line, but thx for correcting me^^

  • its also the soundtrack of an Film, i think its calles Switchback Knife or anything like that, i liked it immediatly^^

  • It's Sling Blade.

  • listen to hands of the potter by caedmans call...interesting

  • What an artist! You can hear the influence he has on the U2 sound

  • @Firewalker5264: And vice versa.

  • Firewalker 5264, if you like his production work with U2, check out the Wrecking Ball album he produced with Emmy Lou Harris. Not your mama's country sound.

  • Creative and great use of Omnichord. Love Lanois.

  • I came to this great artist by way of Wilie Nelson and Emmylous Harris' version of this song. Now I've begun exploring more of this man's work and it's wonderful.

  • serious musician !!

  • Hahahaha - It's funny because you're going straight to hell. :)

  • Nice adjectives

  • I remember watching him being interviewed on MuchMusic (Canada's MTV) and thinking, "who does this joker think he is?". Then they played "The Maker" video ... I was blown away. Amazing. I was lucky to see him perform in Ottawa around this time. Then later in Toronto and San Francisco. Thank you Daniel Lanois!

  • jagr456 you are a dumb ass...something I have come to expect from DMB fans. This man is a master and is more famous for his art than Dave will ever be with his pop/jam trash.

  • I think daniel lanois wrote it.

  • whats that instrument? its the same he uses for Omni right?

  • Smokin' coat!

  • très bel album!! je suis fière de toi, cousin.

au plaisir de te voir bientôt

  • Thanks Daniel. He came to our juice bar back in 2004 in his town of Hamilton Canada ....Steel Town. 24 Carrot juice bar.

  • One of his very very best.

    Epic.

  • superbe chanson !

  • I really enjoyed this music; thanks so much for posting it. This guy is really talented.

  • Wow! Thank you for this. I hadn't seen this version. Lanios is incapable of making anything that's not a masterpiece, whether in his producing or in his own music. Personally I prefer his own and I don't especially like covers of his work. You're right. Acadie is just a transcendent album. In the gold top edition he explains how each layer of each track was made and sometimes parts of each song added much later. He saves everything. Thank God.

  • i agree with others here - ACADIE is simply one of the best releases ever made. and to think most people have never heard it! i love the moody atmospheric quality to it. simply gorgeous. besides creating his own music, Lanois is a wizard in the studio, too, and a wonderful producer. yeah, just listen to what he did for Emmy Lou Harris on WRECKINGBALL...

  • It's one of my desert island(Top 10)discs & i have many hundreds i could choose from.

  • @chukrock now that I think about it, this is one of my desert island discs too!

  • Great song & a very special instrumental composition. Awesome !

  • A very unusual version of this song. Acadie is in my top ten album, with the album that Dan produce for Emmylou HARRIS "Wrecking Ball".

    Thanks for this interesting video!

    Chris

  • La musique de Lanois respire une sorte de sagesse qui force le respect

  • I have the same model of Omnichord. Acadie is one of the greatest albums of all time.

  • is it difficult to play? Acadie is a wonderful album, isn't it?

  • The Omnichord is really easy, and sounds great.

  • Apparently the Qchord is the current incarnation of the omni? Is it expensive?

  • Yeah, Q Chords about about £200. I got my Omnichord for £120.

  • merci pour cet video

  • Much prefer the studio version with its fantastic bass line...but someone with corporate interests decided to force it off of YouTube as though, through some abstract mechanism, somebody was losing money from it being there.

  • you can really tell this is from 1990

  • pure genius

  • Brilliant song! Stunning performance!

  • thank you so much for sharing this!
