  • What a soulful playing Bjorn!! And love your Tele too. It's a great bland. I just got Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster Custom in 3-Tone Sunburst and it's so beautiful and sounds and feels like a million bucks!! It looks close to David's 59' Custom Tele that's shown on your website. Anyone looking for great guitar in that style and can't spend too much got to give it shot.

I picked it in the store and it was next to expensive line and it looks just like that!!

    Anyway, you are inspiration Bjorn!!

  • @checkie4ever

Thanks! Those Classic Vibes are great!

  • I love to listen to your covers. Concrete work. You play with soul, emotions. I wish I'll someday could play like You. Every little detail... It is pleasure to watch you playing.

  • @martini449

    Thanks for your kind words!

  • does anyone know why it's called the "dry: solo ?

    Thanks!

  • @macdaddylorenzo

I call it that because the other solos on Dogs are drenched with rotary sounds and delays while this solo is recorded with just a distortion, making it dry compared to the others.

  • @BjornRiis Oh, cool, thanks!

What do you mean by rotary sounds on the other solos, does that mean like analogue chorus, maybe flanger and stuff like that? Thanks!

  • @macdaddylorenzo

It's recorded with a Yamaha RA200 rotating speaker cabinet in split with the Hiwatts. Most of Dvaid's stuff was recorded like that in the 70s. Check out the album gear guides on my site Gilmourish(.)com for all the details on each album.

  • @BjornRiis That's awesome! Thanks so much!

  • awesome sound, really! but... did you usually set the BD-2 after the distortion? What if you put it before?...

    Bye, keep rockin'

  • @Taldegardo92

Thanks! I always keep the booster after the high gain pedals. Seems to work better than way but what ever works for your setup...

  • this my all time favorite guitar solo

  • Bjorn thanks so much for Gilmourish! I love the site and work you put into it! Rock on!

  • @atoman9865

    Thanks!

  • Ikke dårlig. Din webside var også flott.

  • now thats more like it! none of that line6 hyped effects, using single pedals is so much better

  • Poor strings.

  • great cover

  • Spot on. Sounded so good.

  • THAKS! to you and Guilmourish... I dont´t belive that I can do this song, I´m an awful guitar player! :-) I follow you from Argentina...

  • good job mate, you did it justice.

  • where did you get the backing track?....sounds amazing

  • @micromysterio

This one I made my self using Garageband. You can find this one and lots of other Floyd/Gilmour backingtracks on my site gilmourish(.)com.

  • man, this solo give me chills, nice play.

  • Good good!!!

  • Bjorn ...this solo part of Dogs is D key.

  • You are onne awesome guitarist. And you have a very nice telecaster as well

  • in brazil we custom to say one thing is ANIMAL when is superior.

YOU ARE AN ANIMAL GUITAR PLAYER

  • @charlesportilho

    Thanks!

  • @charlesportilho he's an animal playing animals

  • @charlesportilho in romania we say one is beast-like if awesome .... guitarist bestial!

  • @charlesportilho LOL...we do same thing in ALGERIA, when we talk about a great guitar player as Steve vai we say he's an animal of guitar...and we invented also the Wah Wah animal..is a smooth domestic electric companion and when you put a foot on his neck he use to say wah wah wah wah..Lol really we think it so!!

  • that's one hot little axe

  • Hey great job, man! What string gauge do you use?

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • Sick one... Crazyy

  • @BjornRiis o cool, what year is it and do they still make them?

  • @fess420

    It's a 2005 model. They're still available from Japan I think.

  • hey i know your using a tele but what model is that

  • @fess420

It's a Fender CIJ (Japanese) '62 Custom reissue. Amazing guitar.

  • 0:54 ;as I do to sound harmonious?

  • the best solo ever well one the other two are on the same track two.............ex bjorn

  • from minute 53 to 59, is the best :D

  • damn very nice. wish i was good enough to play that

  • VERY VERY COOL... MUITO BOM MESMO... PARABENS... FROM BRASIL

  • Could you do a version in DGCFAD please? tjis is the original recording tuning.

  • Wow!!! This is one perfect of an execution Bjorn! This is one of my all-time favourite solos in rock history... bloody well done ;)) cheers

  • @Steedonline

Thanks! It's indeed one of the greatest!

  • i like ur pose at the end

  • Perfect!

    Very good!

  • Gave me goosebumps. So, well done, my friend.

  • And when you lose control..

  • Nice work!

  • Thats a sweet looking telecaster you´ve got there my friend...

    Awsome tone, cheers

  • Are you in clean channel on Marshall amp?Sounds good Though.

  • @relicsun

Thanks! Yes, that's the clean channel.

  • beatifull,,, please exactly what you using?

    the pickups from fabr???

  • coool!it sounds really closer to the david's!5*

  • At 0:55 I can hear dogs barking!

  • excellent ..added to fav list.. one of best i seen on u tube

  • One of my favorite solo's of all time, not for technicality but for pure feeling through gilmour's hands. Great job Btw.

  • one of my best solo...love this.. what your telecaster model? some kind of custom or delux?

  • Hey Bjorn! Curious if you use D standard tuning for this song/solo?

  • Bjorn this has got to be my favorite one of your covers. Truly awesome playing! What are the chords you are playing over though? The beginning sounds like just an a-shape E minor bar chord played and then played again with only the bar held (im not sure what that particular chord is called). Then is sounds like halfway through the video some other chords come in. Would you mind tell me what these are?

    Thanks so much

  • settings on the big muff? please

  • one of my favorite solos.i never took time out to learn it.youve captured davids sound great, and that wild tele bite.

  • AWESOME job dude, sounded really good!

  • How are you useing the BD-2? clean boost im guessing? reason i ask because i was reading the song setting list on the Animals page on your site, and i was confused by how you put that david used the colour sound as a booster and the settings listed where for heavy and mild OD, i guess what im really trying to figure out is how to use the BD-2 (which for me i used a subsitute for a colour soud) to clean boost and OD at the same time, or am i getting the wrong idea. (btw i use TS9 for OD after BD)

  • Comment removed

  • Fantastic. Any plans to do the end solo on 'Pigs' ?

  • man what feel.....not forgtn ur tone too..........simply amazing

  • Heard this solo covered a lot of times, but you got it down the closest in my opinion. The pinch harmonics @ 0:55 (most often part messed up it seems) are spot on. Nice work on a epic solo.

  • nice

  • nicely played and great tone.

  • amazing

    keep it up

  • Bjorn-I'm no big fan of the "Tele" as I prefer the Strat, but damn!!! You rock the house with this............I know there a some really good Tele players out there and now I place you among them. Well done, friend! I look forward to more from you........

  • no reverb here...wow perfect delay sound!

  • Brilliant! Great solo, really well played.

  • wow. ive never heard better. except for the original. but this sounds exactly like it. great job.

  • I love this song you play good clean but maybe a little bit slow

  • Perfect solo man!! The feeling is great!

  • Nice playing man!

  • Hey man very good solo!!!!!!! The sound is excellent!! You got it.....very good...

  • great. i fucking love the tone of teles -- so rich and bright

  • Put some mirrors to your guitar and I'ma call you Pink

  • great stuff man

where do you get you music for these songs?

  • Perfect bends, very well played. I really liked this.

  • what's the tuning of this song ?

  • the electrics are in drop d tuning, and the acoustic is tuned a step down.

  • @omegasephiroth93 the tunin' its: DADGBE

  • Fantastic!

  • this is one of my favorite Floyd songs. seriously. i wish i could play like you.

  • Awesome playing! And lovely tone too! You've done great job with your Gilmourish site. All about David's guitars, amps, pedals and sound settings in songs have given me a lots of new information. Now i can start make my own David Gilmour inspired pedalboard. :)

  • Thanks!

  • very, very nice....

  • No comments just awesome.. Great!!!

  • Pefect ! Nothing to say more !

  • Bjorn, do you own replicas of all of Gilmours guitars? just curious lmao.

I love your black strat btw, I never knew japanese strats could come close to their american counterparts... you proved that wrong.

Your a great inspiration to all Gilmour fans. Keep doing what you do, also, I think this is worth mentioning, the line 6 spider iv which I just recently got is amazing, and I think with a bit of toying around you can sound very gilmour-esque, even with my cheap starcaster.

  • Thanks for your kind words and the tip! I don't have the new Fender Gilmour replica but my own Strat is modified for some of the same features. I also have a Strat with the EMG pickups but the guitar it self is actually a 62 Strat, same as this Telecaster. Cheers!

  • do you think that for all of your video covers, a Marshall JCM 800 2203 could achieve this sound along with your pedals? or perhaps a better sound?

  • What kind of amp are you playing through????

  • Marshall 5210, at least that's what it says in the description. :P

  • great job dude!.. one of the better covers i've seen on youtube.

  • Why you playing it in E? The songs in D.

    Or are you tuned down?

  • u mean dm?

  • Yes. I wasn't trying to be THAT specific. Honestly, this kid helped me learn this solo. How you doing with it?

  • I made the backingtrack in Em so that I don't have to tune down. The album version is in Dm of course.

  • Hey man, i cant find the right tabs anywhere. Can u please send me a link or something, I love your work...Oh and how are you tuning for this?

  • what kind of tele is that? I like the binding. MIJ?

  • Yes, it's a Japanese CIJ '62 reissue.

  • I have the same in CAR (candy apple red) love it, though a bitch in soloing, done nice btw

  • This is so awesome that I especially logged in to give it 5 stars :-)

  • Great playing dude. You can't beat a tele when played right.

  • this is one of my favorite solos of all time

id like to see a vid of sorrow too as thats another fave of mine

  • You pretty much nailed this solo. Very nice.

  • I thought that was really well done. Good job.

  • so this solo is in just clean with a muff effect?

  • Yes.

  • really, it sort of sounds like a slap back delay on the album.

  • This is the best dogs solo cover on youtube. ;)

  • why do you call that solo a "dry solo?"I actually listened to that song yesterday for the first time and had that same feeling, like this part was "dry",and I see you name it "dry" too, thats pretty weird

  • i think all the song is dry

  • Dry mean there's no effects such reverb, echo... I think so. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. All I know, in musician term dry is unaffected signal of an instrument and wet is the effect.

  • Yes. On the album, this solo is recorded straight into the amp with just a Big Muff (dry). The other solos are recorded with a Big Muff + Yahama rotating speaker (wet).

  • what is this part at 25 seconds? I always see it put in, i recognize it from the record....but no Tab has it....and I can't tell the notes or what you are playing, could you help me out?

Is there a tab for THIS VERSION OF THE SOLO? Thanks, great job btw

  • This is a great solo ! Animals is a masterpiece.

  • Fantastic. You play with feelings and thats more imp than just playing to note by note

  • where's the difference?

  • u cant make out the difference for eg. note at 0:36 but again I say its not imp to play note by note..this man here plays with passion that what makes his video good.

  • wow those (pinch?) harmonics at :50 sound REAL tight. very well done man, its good to see people still learning floyd solos

  • Know that's not obvious..!!many suck on it..but good job...the feeling missed in some parts..but great sound

  • your always going to have your own sound. Everybody does. Its just like how everyones fingerprint is different. Now having a sound that everyone is interested in is another story....keep it up brotha.

  • 6 years but I've worked really hard to capture the feeling and touch sensitivity that David Gilmour accomplishes. I don't have his style and I don't want to have his style. I have my own but I learned a lot from his guitar playing.

  • also bend the string with three fingers instead of one. Its a trick that every good vibrato player uses. It gives you more strength and control. So fret the note you wish to vibrato with your ring finger then put your middle finger on the fret to the left of that one on the same string and put your pointer finger on the fret to the left of your middle finger on the same string. Its much easier this way.

  • practice brotha. If you keep at it your left fingers get strong enough to where you can manipulate your string bending any way you want.

  • Nice, always wondered what was going on at 0.56 (I'm just a bass player, after all!)

  • Very well done. You have a good vibrato technique that a lot of people just plain old suck at.

  • OWW exelente ta perfeito muito boa a execução do solo ai parabéns ( brazil ) :P

  • Wow,well done mate,that is excellent.

  • All strings are tuned down one step.

  • one whole step

  • You nailed the solo but I have never liked the sound of a tele. I think a strat would give it a fuller sound.

  • David used a Tele on the album though....

  • Great job man, I salute you on picking one of the greatest rock songs, greatest solos...

Isn't the tuning on the original solo different, some notes sound a little flat, but you definitely have the feel... Keep up the good work!

  • gilmour is amazing, well played

  • AWESOME job man! one of my favorite solos in one of my favorite songs by my all time favorite band! 2 big thumbs up!

  • One of the best solo/song that Gilmour ever made...great job as always Bjorn

  • low how slow Gilmours solos can be. classic ...

  • amazing

  • Now THAT is how you play the Dogs solo. BRAVO! 10/10.

  • Best Gilmour solo ever ! ! ! Well done ! :)

  • i love this part of the song

one of the best floyd solos ever

  • nice... what did you use for effect?

  • The infobox is a good thing... 8)

  • oh lol sry

  • Decent, nice work.

  • Excellent work! Any chance of posting a tutorial?

Keep up the great work. Nice, nice job!

  • nice, cool efect

  • I play drums and I would die to jam with someone who play dogs...

  • ye

    you make me feel it.

  • I just wanted to thank you for posting your videos. I enjoy watching them. They are simply amazing. It seems so easy to play like Mr. Gilmour does, but it is not. You are a great guitar player. Would you try to play "Marooned" some day for each and every Pink Floyd fan of us? I think that it would be a great experience, not only for you, but for us too. Have you ever thought about it? Do you agree guys? Greetings from Mexico, City.

  • Im Sick With This song

any help for the Good Tab Please!!! Bjorn can you make a tab for this solo please!

  • Im suere the Tuning is Wrong

  • No, it isnt the song is tuned a whole step down, and his version is in standard tuning, like me.

  • the backin g track is also... in standard tune?

  • It's tuned a whole step down. But the backing track is in standard tune.

  • Fucking hell - nice sound!

  • Epic sound man.

  • How do you make those screaming sound in 00:23=>00:25? :) - and is it possible to make it through a Stratocaster too?

  • Its called a pinch harmonic and yes you can do it on virtually any guitar,

  • Unreal. Really good!

  • If some of you are looking for a backing track, maybe try GuitarPro? It's what I use for learning solos and guitar parts and even putting down my own compositions. I have the full version and the sound is good enough for me, and some of the tabs available for it are quite good, just have to dig through and find them.

  • BRILLIANT

  • I got chills

  • Bjorn,

Did you tune it down a step, or is it still in standard?

  • This is standard tuning. I made the backingtrack so that one doesn't have to retune everytime you want to play the song.

  • this sounds like its in a different key?

  • Nice job.

  • Hi,..I didn't see that track on your site?. What I'm looking for is the whole backer to dogs. Would you have this? Not just the solo parts. I'm looking for the drums only for this song and possible keyboards. No,.bass or guitars.

    Thanks mate!

    Johnny

  • Sorry. There's only the solo parts.

  • Trust me, no full backing track for DOGS exists on planet earth, unfortunately. The greatest song ever written, IMO, is DOGS.

  • yea find a midi file for it and import it into a program like
