Hey there I have a question. When recording my drums through my mixing desk using Audacity the sound seems to work for a couple of seconds then the mics fade and a whistling noise can be heard. Do you or anyone have any idea how to fix this? Cheers!

Then.. speed it up 440 cycles per second; say.... with ability to control it; (that frequency) .. and either speed it or slow it down. That's all I want in life; at the moment. How can I get it to recognize input devices? I have a mic hooked up, and it won't even recognize the speakers to choose for an imput device. So it won't recognize anything in input for output it does recognize the speakers though. I have it on my computer and it works fine, but not on my friends. @sofusos 1.3.12 is stated to work with Win 7 - see audacityDOTsourceforgeDOTnet/d­ownload/. Although 1.3.12 is labelled as a "beta" version, I've been using it for months and it seems to be completely stable.

@itzdatboikdo There's what's called "latency" (delay) between sound going into the computer and sound going out - that's normal on most or all systems.

For multi-track recording, Audacity does have a "Latency correction" feature on the recording tab under Edit / Preferences, so you can use this to get a new recorded track in sync with what's already recorded, though you can't do much about lag in playback of what's going in.

@princeicio You can do EQ and compression separately, though it can only be on audio that's already recorded, not on immediate playback of sound. (That's on their long term to-do list.)

By "compression EQ effects", do you mean multi-band EQ? If so I'm not aware of anything that will do this in Audacity. If you were desperate you could make several copies of your original audio track, use the EQ function to limit each one to its own frequency band and then compress each version.:-)
