Public transport in Melbourne and Sydney is putrid. The trains are soooo dirty, slow, unreliable, hot and rife with crime. You cannot imagine that public transport could be so completely awful until you ride a train in Melbourne or Sydney.
Australian cities are really ugly. The CBDs aren't bad but anywhere outside of the CBD is just a sea of depressing ugliness. Ugly run down brown brick homes, badly kept yards, badly kept businesses. No greenery. UGH. Aussie cites are nothing at all like the leafy manicured neighborhoods that are common in North American cities.
Australia probably doesn't exist, like anything on the south hemisphere :-)) They would have to be walking upside down and they have christmas actually in summer. Crazy. Can't exist. Period.
Also, people who take up citizenship in Australia would much rather live somehwere that they are accepted rather than near intolerant scum like you. Aussies who work in labour fields (like mining) are in general the laziest workers in the world with an inflated sense of self worth and ready to down tools at the first sign that something is not to their liking. Most migrants to this country are hard working, honest people who would do twice the job of a yob Aussie for half the pay.
NSW and Victoria propped up your shitbag states for many, many years with taxes diverted to pay for your thongs, beer and weed. When China stops buying minerals because their economy has tanked, lets see how you feel about the mining boom. I'm sure you and everyone else in WA/QLD were wholly responsible for seeding the earth with zinc, uranium, aluminium, iron ore etc. You wanker.

So is Sydney a nicer city than Melbourne? I have been to Melbourne and anything outside the CBD is soooo dreary and ugly. The neighborhoods are a monotonous sea of ugly, run down, badly kept, little brown brick bungalows. Graffiti and vandalism are rampant, the trains are third world and the price of EVERYTHING is the highest in the world. Melbourne is extremely disappointing. I hope Sydney is better.
@Max5941 to be honest..if you LIVE in sydney..like the typical areas its just like any other place of corse theres gonna be graffiti and all that and bad public transport. But if you come here on VACATION you'll really enjoy it cos the places it has to offer like site seeing and eating is really nice. Hope it doesnt dissapoint you its an amazing pace :)
this clip makes Sydney seem dull.. and bland... which it is not... whats with the music... its wayy creepy.. you can show wayy more things in Sydney than our Bridge
For the record when i said "we" i meant all of Europe, i'm not spanish but dutch. But i visited Barcelona last week and kudos for the inner city, really jaw dropping, but outside of that I was astonished how ugly the sub urbs actually are.
Europe isn't that awesome either, yeah we got historical city centre's but, a lot of people are very rude in the bigger cities, there is a lot of crime especially from gangs coming from eastern europe, and a lot of sub urbs still look like communist community blocks with grey and depressing apartments. For example everything you see from Spain are just inner cities. Outside is nothing more than industry and ugly ghetto buildings. Ofcourse we got some beautiful places but its not all heaven
I must say .. Canada cities in general are among the best in the world, they are cosmopolitan, cleaner, good public transit, and good hospitality like in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, etc .. etc .. Sydney is okay, but I prefer Melbourne over Sydney. That's just my opinion.
Sydney is surprisingly expensive and the MOST overated city in the western world. If you are lucky you will see the now regular dust storms and a giant orange cloud of desert dust spread across this shithole. lol
@Valkyriepure , yes and the UK is sooo cheap to live in ???? I lived in London for 2yrs and it was a shithole that recieved no sunshine but lot's of rain . London is very overated compared to the rest of europe.
@TheDiscoGroove You, like me, obviously actually live in Sydney. It's a very beautiful city and would be wonderful to live in if it wasn't for the people. A VERY poor representation of Australian hospitality.
it was a lot more prosperous during the 2003-2007 years, however from late 2007 on it has gotten dirtier and less exciting, a bit stagnant right now.

sydney a third well country r seriouse u have obviousy have a poor sense of judgement visit the eastern suberbs then u will se rich and pollution isnt high in it and crime rates r ok
hmmm mazzakid09..... the term is third world or developing or under-developed nation not "third well".. however agree with you.. no part of australia is 3rd world, Australia is one of the most Developed Countries in the world, and highest standard's of living, even higher than USA and UK ! and Sydney is purely beautiful... our crime rate is actually very low on world scale, wat are people one about ..?
paddlepopkid: I like your comment. Mazzakid09 sounds like a complete illiterate tosser. However, not knowing much about OZ, I have a question. Why are there so many Aussies in London? Why do they come to this miserable, polluted, disgusting rainy city? I am not getting it....Any ideas?
Lol...nar his aight Mazzakid09 (only coz his a sydneysider or supporter =P) hmmm lol Kathykisslight well, London has alot more history which is very interesting, in sydney, we freak out when we enter a 200yr old pub or building, in london thats nothing! plus i herd working there is a great experience and money is great!! dw, i just came back from a 4night holi on the Gold Coast, and i realise sydney is actually stinky and dirty too! aww i'd love to move to surfer's now! well done Queensland!
Paddlepopkid: Why do you freak out if you go to an old pub in Sydney? I don`t understand. Yes, London has a lot of history, And what? Does it make living there any more pleasant? Public transport sucks. You pay a hell of a lot of money and you`re happy if you can get on&stand there like a sardine. It stinks. All you have there is just the dirty, smelly Thames in the middle. Plus, I have never seen more miserable people in my life. As if everyone`s mum had been killed or something....Miss the sea
Lol.. when i say "freak out" i mean its like wow and to think that the building or pub is so old compared to one's self.! yea see the history is amazing, thats why i'd go to london, i thought public transport was the best in london,, and sydney is becoming just like that too, stinky and dirty and overflow of migrants from asia&arabia... i though the Thames was nice! but i think living in Oz is more pleasant than uk...esp outta Syd & Melb, its so very clean and laid back, nice lifestyle!
Lol...i like how your so casual about " yea london has alot of history and what .?? " bhahahaha o.m.g isn't it amazing to stand in a building, thats like 500years old or more, and travel to france or italy and germany in like few hours!! o.m.g Oz cities are so far apart.. Sydney to Melbourne 12hr drive...Sydney to Brisbance also 12hr drive! Lol in that time i coulda seen half ov europe!! but if u eva get the chance to visit Oz, i know you will not be let down, you'll love it just like other pom

Sydney is not a good place to visit. The city if full of high poverty, crime and pollution. I just couldnt stand of the street beggars asking for money and food. I felt like i was in a 3rd world country.
the only beggers on the streets are the ones who have been drunks but they are not poor..its their choice to be like that. To screw their own lives, you cannot compare Sydney to a 3rd world country.. thats just stupidity.. i lived in Sydney all my life and i would know my own city .. there is no such thing as High poverty mate..
f u. Sydney is the #1 city (even thoguh i dont live there but i wanan live there) its like the best and i like it at ngiht time and when new years come and i like the Sydney Harbour so stfu will you? Sydney is better then your fking life so get a fking better life
Indeed it is the most beautiful place in the world ! I had tears in my eyes when I was catching flight back home for India. But I will be back there again. It silently tells you how much you will miss it when you leave it!!! Love ya Sydney
i love australia i have relatives there in sydney and brisbane and i would like to live there one day i`m leaving in england Newcastle -Upon-Tyne which is absolutely horrible full of crime murders cannot go out at night time.its a sheety place to live here believe me i want to move.I`m from cyprus thats very nice country like australia.
i must addmit, im pretty lucky to be living in Australia, and so close to Sydney aswell, after seeing how mny ppl are dying to come over here one day.
although the crazy bums at central station are scary.
not to mention the south coast has the most complex rail system in the world
I live 5 minutes walk from Central Station. You know those bums make a living out of begging, don't you? Some of them end up with hundreds of dollars in a single day. I know this one beggar dude who lives in a respectable town house near me in Surry Hills and owns a 360, a wii, a ps3, and a plasma TV. I shit you not. True story.
i already been it is the best place on earth the best bit is wen u climb the sydney bridge and you visit the one and the only the opera house it is a huge shit that looks amazin and the best thing that i have ever seen in my life
go to imax the cinema in sydney it is the biggest one in the world really it is the biggest one in the world no joke and go and watch a 3D film they are amazin
Golden beaches of golden sand, silky sunsets that glow on your hands, as dawn awakens on this marvelous land, lay back and enjoy as mush as you can - come to Australia as soon as you can.
Sydney has the most beautiful women ever...how dare you say you wanna fuck all the girls!! i hate guys who say shit like that get a life you desperate little twat stick to masturbation cuz hun your not gunna be getting an lovin...
Another point that makes Sydney so unique and enviable to other cities world wide is it is the ONLY city in the WORLD to boast an airport, clean harbour, clean beaches and a CBD within such a short radius of each other!!!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The ONE MILLION ex pats who reside overseas have left permanently, as per the last Canberra white paper I saw online.[official Government numbers] So the honest questions are.1] Why did they leave the sunny shores of Oz,2] why don't they all return ? 3] When will Rudd allow equality in marriage ? 4]Why are overseas citizens not allowed to vote in Australian elections ? "Democracy" anyone ?[passport holders].Maybe, there is hope for freedom down under.
I think very few foreign citizens are allowed to vote anywhere, if at all. Why should they? If they want to vote they should take out citizenship. I have been a foreign resident in Switzerland for 30 years. It is very difficult to get citizenship here as you have to stay in one plave for a minimum of 10 years which I have never managed. It sometimes annoys me that I can't vote but I understand why. Imagine all the foreigners trying to fathom corrupt OzPollies! Can't be done. Look at GongGate eg.
My family was born in Sydney to, everyone but my little sister. We lived in Singapore after we were transported from Australia. Then we lived in Massachusetts USA and now we live in Colorado USA.
Oh come on. There are great people everywhere. I've never been to Canada but I know some really nice Canadians. If you're nice to people they're generally nice to you. I don't want to sound patronising but it's true.
Was born there and like one million other Australians we left Oz for good. Too left wing, politically and too far away from the capitals of the world.Culturally wanting.Too many taxes and too many dole bludgers for me.Now, too many non Europeans taking over ?
Do you know these one million people who you say left for good. I'm sure alot have returned and like others have filled their spot looking for travel/work/study. Australia is not even in the top 20 most expensive countries to live in the world. All countries have taxes and dole bludgers well are you going to let other people decide where you should live?
I'm one of the 1 million - I left with a backpack in 1976 and am still stuck in Europe. I love it but I'd be back to Oz in a flash if I had the cash to ship self, possessions, 2 horses and dog to the glorious shores of the beloved home country. I miss the sun, the people, friends and family. I miss tootling into town on the ferry, I miss the sounds of the birds, I miss Manly beach. I will never be able to afford to live in Kirribilli again (and the horses wouldn't like it) but give me a home
I think u r a bit mean, all those people do, esp atianak has been complimenting your country and you come back with something negative.
I travel extensively and I can assure you all over the world Aussie travelers say G'Day Mate every time you meet one, it's a nice saying and it does have an aus charm to it...mrova,when I have been to Australia I have heard this many many times. I think u shud focus more on the facts these people have bin complimenting ur country rather than bng negative nancy
THANK YOU yes, we do, but sydney really is amazing. I have been the luckiest girl in world to have been to Sydney, Australia three times now and I wish it was my boyfriend lol Sydney I fell in love with the weatehr, the scenery, the FOOD, the people, so kind and caring and loving and so mjcuh fun. We in Swizterland are the same, maybe sydney people would visit us sometime and see we are much like you with human rights...But thank you Sydney and Australia for being so KIND and good to your countr
Why didn`t it show Luna Park ? It`s 1 of the coolest things you could ever do in Sydney !!
Plus it`s really fun :-)

The only good thing about Syndey it the road leading out to the real Australia.
Shitney is full of migrants that can't or won't speak english and back stab each other for a buck.
Real Australia is out in the small country towns spread out accross the vast coast and outback

i must addmit, im pretty lucky to be living in Australia, and so close to Sydney aswell, after seeing how mny ppl are dying to come over here one day.
although the crazy bums at central station are scary.
not to mention the south coast has the most complex rail system in the world
good old cityrail:)
burningestate 3 years ago
I live 5 minutes walk from Central Station. You know those bums make a living out of begging, don't you? Some of them end up with hundreds of dollars in a single day. I know this one beggar dude who lives in a respectable town house near me in Surry Hills and owns a 360, a wii, a ps3, and a plasma TV. I shit you not. True story.
magnetictheory 3 years ago
woah, im considering becoming 1 of them bums now haha.
their all pretty nice, except 4 the lady thta screams at ppl, shes scary and very insaine

Golden beaches of golden sand, silky sunsets that glow on your hands, as dawn awakens on this marvelous land, lay back and enjoy as mush as you can - come to Australia as soon as you can.

Another point that makes Sydney so unique and enviable to other cities world wide is it is the ONLY city in the WORLD to boast an airport, clean harbour, clean beaches and a CBD within such a short radius of each other!!!!!

"Democracy" anyone ?[passport holders].Maybe, there is hope for freedom down under.
dickinsonstarkey 3 years ago
I think very few foreign citizens are allowed to vote anywhere, if at all. Why should they? If they want to vote they should take out citizenship. I have been a foreign resident in Switzerland for 30 years. It is very difficult to get citizenship here as you have to stay in one plave for a minimum of 10 years which I have never managed. It sometimes annoys me that I can't vote but I understand why. Imagine all the foreigners trying to fathom corrupt OzPollies! Can't be done. Look at GongGate eg.

I LOVE OZ... people are nice, nicer than canadian for sure now!
babyboo604 3 years ago
Oh come on. There are great people everywhere. I've never been to Canada but I know some really nice Canadians. If you're nice to people they're generally nice to you. I don't want to sound patronising but it's true.
kirribilli52 3 years ago
Was born there and like one million other Australians we left Oz for good. Too left wing, politically and too far away from the capitals of the world.Culturally wanting.Too many taxes and too many dole bludgers for me.Now, too many non Europeans taking over ?
dickinsonstarkey 3 years ago
we were born there and still live there. its wonderful...not wut u say
AussieTwinsJS 3 years ago
Do you know these one million people who you say left for good. I'm sure alot have returned and like others have filled their spot looking for travel/work/study. Australia is not even in the top 20 most expensive countries to live in the world. All countries have taxes and dole bludgers well are you going to let other people decide where you should live?
bluedress74 3 years ago
I'm one of the 1 million - I left with a backpack in 1976 and am still stuck in Europe. I love it but I'd be back to Oz in a flash if I had the cash to ship self, possessions, 2 horses and dog to the glorious shores of the beloved home country. I miss the sun, the people, friends and family. I miss tootling into town on the ferry, I miss the sounds of the birds, I miss Manly beach. I will never be able to afford to live in Kirribilli again (and the horses wouldn't like it) but give me a home

I love G'Day Mate and Give it a go and Go Son!
atianak 3 years ago
I'm Aussie and rarely hear 'G'day mate' lol
Annie1962 3 years ago
I think u r a bit mean, all those people do, esp atianak has been complimenting your country and you come back with something negative.
I travel extensively and I can assure you all over the world Aussie travelers say G'Day Mate every time you meet one, it's a nice saying and it does have an aus charm to it...mrova,when I have been to Australia I have heard this many many times. I think u shud focus more on the facts these people have bin complimenting ur country rather than bng negative nancy
