There are many different forms of Mass in the Church. I do love the Latin Mass, it's my favorite, but we must never forget that the other Rites of the Church have an equal and valid Mass.

@civilian42: disobedience is NOT traditional. The SSPX was created out of the disobedience of an angry bishop, and his angry followers. I say get thee to an FSSP Church, NEVER an SSPX church....

I'm surprised I didn't see Cardinal Burke in the procession. He is a great promoter of the Latin Mass, but of course he is a very busy man himself. Both the founder of the Institute of Christ the King and the head of the institute for the U.S. was in the procession. I would have expected them to be there. Their institute is growing thank God.

Wow! I wish I had been there :-( This Holy Mass in the Extraordinary Form was indeed a historical moment for the Church. I only hope it received a lot of exposure from a lot of people, especially the uninitiated Catholics who probably had no clue that this Mass was THE Mass prior to the liturgical reforms in the 60s.

I only attend a Traditional Latin Mass.....as Father Malachi Martin once said on the Art Bell radio show..."Between you, me Art and the Holy Ghost, it's the ONLY mass!"

Find the nearest SSPX Roman Catholic Church in your area. Again, Father Martin help set up the underground Church. See my youtube channel for his interviews.

Great! At 7:30 the officiant at the rigt is wearing a different chasuble. Does anybody know the name of this garment and what is its significance ?

@gbernsdorff I believe you are referring to the cope (which isn't a chasuble). I want to say it's because he is serving as subdeacon, but that may not be correct.

Thank you. I think you are right: the 'cappa' in Latin, 'koormantel' in Dutch. I have seen it in processions, but never, so far, during Mass. Maybe because my countries are now almost totally devoid of Tridentine Masses and I didn't pay attention when they still had them :-)

@gbernsdorff It's a cope, he is the Assistant priest. There is only one chasuble, for the Cardinal. The deacon wears a dalmatic (with sleeves), and the sub-deacon wears a tunicle, which looks very similar. Hope this helps.
