  • NO NO NO!!! We ment to do that, we were just seeing if the bumpers was still working.

  • and this is not the only time volvo's system has failed... it failed at another car demonstration show... i believe it was an orange s60... oh and my xc-60 failed on me too, so all in all very good Volvo, WELL DONE -.-

  • whether or no the system was on, it reminds me of mercedes distronic brake system, it has a radar that notices when an object (car) stops moving and slows the vehicle down to a complete stop present since the 90's. However the system had trouble "seeing" things that were never moving to begin with such as a wall or parked car on the side of the road. This is not new or amazing, its an uneasy feeling as you approach a car and hope IT sees the car, then again that's why they have nine airbags(CLS)

  • So does this system do anything then? I only ask because every video I can find of it shows it not working with a crash as the result.

I know it's probably been said before but...

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

  • increibles frenos

  • really

  • 52 people have this car.

  • hahaha i cant believe these guys actually commented on this video HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • I say it was a perfect success. it hit dead on :)

  • This is the second video I've seen this feature fail on. lol I don't care why it didn't work, but it didn't work and it's funny.

  • Comment removed

  • Yes I think its clear this video is mislabeled PLEASE CHANGE.... but from what I have read and watched in my unbiased opinion this safety system sometimes works sometimes it doesn't work.

  • yep,Volvo keep failling.

  • please try again.

  • I think people need to get the message that they are in charge of stopping the car at all times and the Volvo isn't. Autobrake is only there to try and prevent an accident. "Blame Volvo" for what? Disks and pads will wear down in time and this wear will vary the accuracy of the calculations the device makes so instead of relying entirely on this auto-brake. Why don't you all look ahead, stop looking at scenery and pay attention. If you rely on autobrake then you shouldn't be driving. Simple.

  • why I can't mute

  • the laugh win

  • An other FAIL :D

    watch?v=aNi17YLnZpg

  • uhhhh that was China's FAULT!!!

  • WOW! the car knew that its driver is not to be dangered as in front was only a inflatable car and had to be shown where it stood!!

  • he backed up and tryed again

  • The reason was because that volvo was mad in Australia not Sweden...

  • and why is the balloon car a vw?

  • I thing the laugh was much worse than this safety fail. :/

  • watch an epic fail: eni gabriel volvo

  • I recently tested a XC60 at a local volvo dealer, I took it for a spin and it drives very very well. Returning to the dealership, the salesman told me to step on the gas and aim for a XC90 that was parked outside and the city safety really worked, it scared the hell out of me, but it braked automatically leaving about a meter between both cars.

  • Hey, tell me this, would you guys trust a computer to drive for you?!

i mean anyone in the world knows windows and it's famous blue screens...

imagine a blue screen during you trip! That's why planes have pilots!

  • well volvo are still the safest cars in the world

  • and people wonder y i like Fords instead of volvoes

  • @metallicakid83 Made by the same company

  • Chinese quality.

  • @Soigge not chinese dumbass

  • @MTLbigJ don't troll before you read the facts...

  • It worked it stopped. lol

  • А эта хуйня вообще работает? Одни такие косяки в инете!

  • - watch?v=_f3eieqVkPk&feature=grec_browse

    for ur knowledge ... njoi

  • i gotta question, at what motorshow was this at? and what year?

  • Why all the crashed cars are VW Golf?

  • As a matter of fact, every human-designed or -built system will have certain probability of failure, including spaceship or airplanes.

  • hahaha, this video will be a major impact for volvo company. It's very emabrassing video, uploader should ask money from volvo for turning this video off. LOL!

  • pfft. its fail because its a volvo, noting else

  • And as you can see, by making the orange car out of rubber it's much safer :)

  • two words.. sound leveling :P

Other than that LOL CAR FAIL LOL

  • was theredamage on the volvo?

  • wtf , who's laughing like a fuk..

  • Wow that laugh is going 2 haunt me down all nightmare long...

  • does this happen at alot of car shows? im scared now

  • #FAIL

  • this is a demonstration of how the car behaves while city safety is off you stupid

  • obviously the driver was putting input in on the gas pedal....so it wont interfere if your trying to ram something ....like hes doing....but if your coasting along and your not paying attention then it will stop

  • For such drivers Volvo should be installed ejection seat :-)

  • LMMFAAOO. that is so embarasinggg atleast it workeddd. anndd be te dubs the system turns ion when the carr turens on

  • @kiwifan186 yep.. look like it happens that to volvo alot..

  • I can't belive the idiot driving this didn't have the system turned on! He got fired after this.

  • lol so long volvo!

  • Volvos are the best, and for you idiots who think they are slow, they have one of the best turbos in the world.

  • saab is safer looking at real world data and also invented turbo

  • you might be right, but i've owned both, and I feel Volvo is better.

  • again tho its just our opinion and how we feel you stick with volvo and i'll stick with saab

  • Sounds Good

  • @PSNBOB580 saab invented the turbo!

  • @jaffacake1578 volvo invented the seat belt!! and the airbag of course

  • @ToInfinity1 and ford, then pwned volvo by owning them, inventing knee airbags and the belt bags, also being the first to put them into production...

  • @jaffacake1578 The original idea comes from volvo, volvo was an independent company when they were inventing the three points seat belts, which is used in every single car in the world today. that has nothing to do with ford

  • Their cars looked cool just a year ago. Now they're making cars like the C-series cars and the XC60, which quite frankly look overdone and terrible...

  • he driver drove too fast, if you drive 2-18 km/ h the car will stop but if u drive faster likme 19-30 km/h the car will just brake to make the impact more comfortable.. u see that the car brakes before it hits the car..and i don´t think the driver him self braked because the misson was to test the system..

  • this video is mislabeled, this was a demonstration of the system when it was off...i was there during the show and whoever posted this did not post the video of the results after the system was turned on

  • @jure87 volvo said in a statement this system is ALWAYS ON AND ALWAYS WORKING....why would they give you an option of turning it off for ???? i think ur making excuses my friend !!!!

  • @mammo8369

becouse if u want to race with the car or if u r goin' fast then this option will make u like tight or not in full control so u can adjust it or choose eather to turn it off or to turn it on ;-))

  • the driver drove to fast!

  • Maybe he\she drive to fast if it get over 20 km\h the city safty not works....

  • Ah this is the demonstration where the citysafety was OFF.. You can see what could happen.... VOLVO FOR LIVE

  • i drive a volvo and love it =).

  • @DerrickShen im suprised that your not dead yet

  • he had the option off

  • Guys, I was there. This was the only test they did the whole night. The Volvo guys said it was turned on and it did not work, hence, everyone laughing. But scroll down and look at 'VolvoCarAustralia' comment, it explains why it did not work.

  • Check the full video where it works. It was OFF here for demonstration.

  • @SurfSkateSun Guess they did not think this through. What about people who fall asleep? If somene can steer I am sure they can slam the friggin brakes as well?

  • @TheSpydera How the hell do you think ppl drive? Start the car and drive in a straight line and fall asleap? Safetysystem is activated after steering has been used. Dumbass

  • i personally test drove the XC60 at a dealership, and it worked for me in the test.

  • The system did not fail. It was done first with the system off to show the low speed crash. Whoever posted this did not show the system working in the next segment. But you can find it on YouTube.

  • yeah ! a lot of noobies around here!this is the part when the system its turned off!

  • @SurfSkateSun Actually I just looked another video were the car has the exact same problem, so my only advice is don't trust your life on Volvo's safety technologies LOL

  • @Ryoga2K I'd still rather have it. Airbags don't have to go off every single time to prove they're saving peoples smiles.

  • @SurfSkateSun maybe you are a workingman of volvo company, no matter if you say that, the car sucks, thats all!! The sistem are not perfect!!

  • @SurfSkateSun Doesn't explain why they forgot to add a driver to steer.

  • Guys, I was there. This was the only test they did the whole night. The Volvo guys said it was turned on and it did not work, hence, everyone laughing. But scroll down and look at 'VolvoCarAustralia' comment, it explains why it did not work.

  • @SurfSkateSun but Volvocaraustralia just confirmed that it was off and it did not fail because of that. Essentially the guy demonstrating does not understand how to use his car. It is a human epic fail and not a volvo safety test fail. If anything it is a Volvo safety test win.

  • @RMEroo LOL volvo sucks!

  • @TheEuroperules Volvo kills your cheap chinese plastic cars VOLVO POWER!!!

  • @JeemOfRunescape Funny though . VOLva is owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group ( CHINA)

VOVLO = MADE IN CHINA .LOL

  • @TheEuroperules Volvo is not owned by china, its a swedish company, the cars are made in sweden, NOT china..

  • @JeemOfRunescape volvo is made in belgium, sweden & china.

and the company isnt swedish anymore its now from geely (china)

  • @duckjeh Volvo is made in Sweden & belgium LOVOL (chinese fuckers) is made in china (copy of Volvo)

  • @JeemOfRunescape

i work at volvo so im telling you, your wrong

  • All I know is that if your increase the throttle, or decrease the throttle the system doesnt stop anymore. The system is programmed so that it stops in case the driver isnt paying attention or doesnt see the potentiol collision comming. If you add or reduce the gas you are propably reacting upon the traffic situation and you will be in control again. In that case, the car will do nothing.

  • Oh good, now I can text message and surf on my iphone in gridlock traffic without worries. just kidding. Löv the XC60. I want one.

  • Every effort is made to ensure XC60 demonstrations represent real-life traffic situations. In real-life, the driver would 'steer' the vehicle. A minor steering turn (4.6 degrees) is required to activate the City Safety system after the vehicle is started. Unfortunately, here the driver did not move the steering wheel the vehicle was simply switched on and allowed to travel in a straight line towards the inflatable car. For City Safety footage please see the 'VolvoCarsNews' channel on YouTube.

  • @VolvoCarAustralia , What if the person suffers a heart attack and passes out in front of wheel. Thats a "real" life situation no?

  • @VolvoCarAustralia well THATS JUST PLAIN RETARDED!

The system is made for people that are distracted by something in traffic... the moment you get to steer the wheel the car already stops... IN THE FRONT CAR !

  • @VolvoCarAustralia That's totalt Bullshit. The car does not need to have a minor steering turn of 4.6 degrees. My father just so happens to be a chief engineer at Volvo. The System is designed to work at any angle or steering. The Safety system is developed to above all help from all small car cuing accidents which are the most common accidents above all others, and secondly to be able to stop for bystanders or any other unpredictable dangers that might appear without the driver noticing them.

  • @wellerocks consider this being 2 years ago :)

  • @wellerocks He clearly doesn't do his job well if this technology fails all the time!

  • @spikeman14 First of all, he isn't working on software engineering. Second of all, the system doesn't "fail all the time", in fact, out of more than 15 000 tries around the world, the system has failed 2 times while actually having been turned on. That's 14 998 times it would have saved your car from damage or a person from getting hit. There's a reason even the Germans have tried to adopt extremely similar types of systems but not having marketed it.

  • @wellerocks If it doesnt work 100% then it is flawed and dangerous, whose to say that it wont work it other 14,998 times. If it fails twice in a small test such as this, then it will fail more with more people using it. Think how many times someone drives a day!

And anyway, if you need this technology to drive you should get a driving licence from somewhere other than LegoLand!

  • @spikeman14 Are you retarded or just plain stupid? There is no system which works 100% of the time. This system is not supposed to make the driver be able to focus on other things than traffic. It's supposed to help the driver that one time when he isn't paying attention in that traffic jam, or that one time when she didn't see the kid running out on the street. And you should seriously consider buying a map of the world. Volvo is from Sweden, not from Denmark you inbred bucktoothed hick.

  • @VolvoCarAustralia wellerocks is right. I mean just think of it why would it require a minor turn for activation. In a real life crisis even if someone turned, it be would a millisecond before the actual disaster, thus, not allowing time for the system to respond properly anyways. There have been plenty of demonstrations without the driver moving the wheel of the vehicle.

  • @VolvoCarAustralia

man you really got all your staff to vote up your comment, such losers man

  • @VolvoCarAustralia thank you im from sweden

  • @VolvoCarAustralia , ok, but what if he was not looking? why would he steer the vehicle

  • @VolvoCarAustralia ok so... the system failed

  • hahaha!! stupidass

  • fail ahhaha

  • FAIL!!!!

  • sick video 5 star

  • man: i think i recognise you from somewhere

woman: yeah, that's why i don't go there anymore
