I have seen ALOT of races,including alot of claiming races.I'm sure that horses do get claimed,but i can count on one hand the amount of horses i've seen claimed

@Clover1106 No only horses that are in claiming races are claimed. The other types are graded and allowance races. Race trainers and owners put horses in claimers to have a better chance of winning.

@Clover1106 no theres certain races called "claiming races" where trainers and owners have to pay a certain price to claim the horse but graded stakes races like the breeders cup dont have the option to claim a horse. hope that helps. i can explain a little better if u want

@Unicornprinsess yes.if a horse gets claimed the owner has to give the horse up.But if the horse is entered in a claiming race the next time it runs,the old owner can always try to re-claim the horse in the next race

Can't you run a race without the horse being able to be claimed? That's rubbish because then you could claim a really good horse for as little as what dreamer got, couldn't you?

I HATE THE RACING BUSSINESS!! because of it i live in fear that a horse that i lov will get claimed and ill never be able 2 see her again. throughbred and harness racing is not good:( (but great movie)

You need to know the bussiness better, you choose to put a horse in a claim race sometimes you have to risk it. There are races were they won't get claimed.
