Mariachi Los Camperos has always had the best violin section in my professional opinion. Their articulation and phrasing is always just perfect! And I love the harp solo in this song, this arrangement is so perfect that it makes you not notice that there isn't a trumpet solo.

@felipedjg I tend to agree. While I really like Vargas as a mariachi on the whole, I think Camperos definitely has the best violin section Ive ever heard. The harp solo struck me as a bit odd since it seemingly came in out of nowhere, but to be honest, I wish mariachis used more harp. I tend to think it gets left out a bit, so it was refreshing after the slightly awkward transition..

I think that camperos is such a great group! I think that camperos also including of course Mariachi Cobre, sol de mexico and mariachi Vargas show such a great representation of mariachi and how much hard work and talent has to be put into mariachi!!!=)

@520mariachi....In my opinion, you just named the 4 best Mariachi Groups in the world! And if you wanted to round out the top 5, Internacional Guadalajara and Nuevo Tecalitlan would probably be tied. My opinion only of course.

Awesome!! my favorite version of Cascabel was always with Camperos, this is my favorite Camperos era. Ive always wanted to meet Monica if Im ever in Tucson I would definetely love to go see Azteca del Sol and meet her. Shes my favorite female mariachi musician and vocalist :)

this arrangement was actually originally from Jose Hdz orginal Sol de Mexico group. Some of his members later joined Camperos and the arrangement went with them..

Thank you for this video! This the Camperos that I fell in love back in 1991. I was only 14 years old and new that mariachi is what I wanted to be for life. When I saw Monica sing it just made me want to work harder. So thank you for reminding me of much simpler times in my life.

Hi thanks for all the nice things everyone has said. Just to clear a few things, Juan Jose Almaguer and I worked for about 10 years together so we were very good friends but never a couple. I am married to Rueben Loya and have three daughters. We are in Tucson and I do perform Mariachi Azteca del Sol. I am still singing and still enjoy it. No, I don't know her personally. My parents used to take me to La Fonda when I was a teenager. I just admired her talent and passion. She was very friendly and would talk to us but never got to know her well.

It appeared at the time that she was very close to the director Juan Jose who also was very nice. They appeared to be a couple.

I believe Monica is responsible for a huge womens mariachi group movement in Southern California.
