There were 8 neighbors standing around,Ooooing and Ahhhing, and watching it burn. I asked who had called the fire department. Not a one of them had! This was before cell phones...so I used one of their house phones to call it in. You did fine here.

If i was IC of that scene after the third time you told me about the PROPANE tank I would have had the cops remove you from the scene. The one thing ya did right was stayed out of the house. While this fire dept. could have done things a bit better, they did a fair job with what they have. That's probably a volunteer dept. so they probably don't get many fires. I'd say they need to do a search sooner, and the guys that didn't have packs on need to have one on, so that if something happens to the guys that are inside on the line, they can do an immediate rescue. Not the best job, but nothing that a little training can fix. Just need to polish up their game.

200 Chief is right, for the little bit of fire on the end of the house with the propane tank, it would have been a better use of water just to put the fire out. Those tanks can take alot of heat. It be a different story if there was a lot of active fire with heavy fuel load there.
Looks like some training would really help these guys.

Not sure if 200chief saw that the radiant heat was burning the grass by the tank and the side of the tank had slight smoke coming from it at 2:05 - 2:10 but it wasnt a waste by the department to cool the tank. but the 1st line was slow being pulled i will agree there
