I was going to use this for controlling two amps that aren't linked. From what video said is that I could set everything on the unit and not touch the amps or would I have the set the crossover all the way to the right for this.
@LooseCannon48 If your amplifiers have a Master/Slave switch then you can switch them to "Slave" which bypasses all adjustments and allows for the Maxxlink to control everything. If they do not feature the Master'Slave switch then you will have to match the amps and adjust everything at the amps prior to relying on the Maxxlink.
So if i set up two one ohm stable amps to the maxx link, what will be the lowest ohm load i could run when set up with the slave/master configuration? 2 ohms?
The DSC1500.1D's have the ability to link without the use of a Maxxlink MLX-100. When linking a pair of our amplifiers that are 1-Ohm stable each, a 2-Ohm load was be presented to the pair. This is how most other amps in the market are as well.
Hey Mike, im in the middle of building a huge system, i have 8 audiopipe 3500.1. they are going to run 8 15's. one amp per sub at 1 ohm each. im looking for a why to simplify my rca connections to theses amps, and at the same time make sure each amp get the correct voltage of signal input,
No, this would not work. The PHASE adjustment on amplifiers nevers completely switches the PHASE. You could swap the + and - speakers wires on the second amplifier though. This will make the timing identical.
Correct. Leave PHASE at 0 on all amps. The amps receiving signal from maxxlink + outputs with have standard + and - speaker polarity. The amps receiving maxxlink - signal will need to have reversed + and - speaker polarity so that all subs are aligned in PHASE. This is because the + and - signal from the Maxxlink is opposite.
Hey Mike, great tutorial VID, my maxxlink it´s awesome!! But, i have never used the boost control from it, instead, i use the boost control from my amp, should i use the boost remote from the maxxlink or the boost from the amp??
The Maxxlink works almost any TRUE mono amplifier. The only amps I know they will NOT work on are the Brazilian made amplifiers as they use a different method of linking.
Great tutorial. I read on the forums most people were seeing a higher and more consistent score using this. Now that I see how easy it is to hook up I think I will try it instead of just bridging as I am doing now.
You are correct. Wire 2 coils in series to amp 1 at 2 Ohms. Then wire the remaining 2 coils in series to amp 2 at 2 Ohms. Watch the 2nd Maxxlink video and follow the recommendations for using the Maxxlink to supply balanced signal without linking. A+ and B+ to amp 1 inputs. C+ and D+ to amp 2 inputs. Then balance the amplifiers using and digital voltmeter and test tone as shown.
Ask on the forums if you don't believe us. You can link ALMOST any MATCHING pair of MONO amps with the Maxxlink. The only brands we have seen issues with are the Brazilian companies as they link differently.
Enhhhh...still seems like it would drop impedance dangerously low....
I got no problem with Maxxsonics, matter of fact I'm looking at a BXI-2610D here in the near future... I just don't think this is the whole picture of what's going on here is all. There's got to be impedance limitations.
Anyway, the reason I said what I said is because...well, ANY self-respecting company would at least put power to their product in a promotional video to prove it works...I dont know why you didnt.
If you refer to the manual you will see that there are indeed impedance limitations. For example, if your amps are 1 Ohm stable per then you must present a 2 Ohm load to the linked pair so that each sees 1 Ohm.
Ok, you will not be LINKING the amps at all. In fact you will simply be using the Maxxlink as a means of distributing signal to each amp and controlling everything exactly as shown in part 2 of the Maxxlink Tutorial Series . Start watching at 1:42 of part 2 and follow those EXACT instructions. Then you would simply wire 1 sub per amplifier. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
In regards to your BASH comment, Maxxsonics cares about our products and our customers and I am offended that you suggest otherwise. I personally am on answering questions and making videos in response to questions asked of us. I don't see any other car audio manufacturer doing this at the level we are. I didn't put power to the amps in this vid because I was simply showing the wiring configs and uploading the video in response to several email requests.
Naw I agree... those other companies spend millions of dollars on booths at trade shows etc but they dont seem to find time to promote their stuff to their clientbase. It's cool, man--I'm not hating so dont make it out like I am..I knew there was a catch though and now that I know theres impedance limits it makes a lot more sense... Still tho wouldn't it be cheaper/more efficient to get one HUGE amp instead of two smaller ones? Unless you already have 1 small amp and want more power, not logical
hey mike, would one of thease work well with my install that i am using to cntrol the 4 crunch gp 3000d pro's for my 12 10'' DC audio lvl 4's? it seems like it would help control them alot, as my head unit probably wouldnt be able to handle all those amps.
Absolutely this will help. This unit will save you the hassle of splitting signa; time and time again to each amp as well as avoid using RCA pass throughs from one amp to the next. :-)
that is awsome news ! i will be picking this up for sure then, i will speak with you more through email mike about wiring, and exactly how it would apply to our install.
So will this work on two Crunch Gp2500D?
DJuan300 1 year ago
@DJuan300 Absolutely! You could use it to link them at 2 Ohms or provide signal to each amp and control both from the Maxxlink.

@lilbrudda30 Yes, 2 Ohms is the lowest safe impedance that can be presented to a linked pair of 1 Ohm stable amps.

@MaxxsonicsUSAInc
So If you are using two MM1400.1D's in the slave/master configuration, the final output will be 2800 rms @ 2 ohms?

do i have to have to have this to link my 2 mb quart dsc 1500 and also with two amps linked together can they run a 1ohm load

so at four ohms with 2 1500s linked together about how much power will i be looking at because i have two dual 4ohm subs
d77543020 1 year ago
The pair of linked DSC1500.1D's will produce 1500w @ 4 Ohms. This presents 2 Ohms to each amplifier.

I have 1 sub that is a quad coil(1ohm) and
2 non-strapping identical amps. How do I
wire the subs to the amp? I also have a 3way
x-over. Do I use the source from the output
sub side of the x-over?

What impedance are your amplifiers stable to? You may be in a situation where your impedance coils won't match up ideally to your amplifier.

could you explain this a little better or tell me the pagee of the manual it's on?

How many subs do you plan to run? I can help more once I understand what you plan to run. I will then help you with voice coil configuration etc.

i plan on running 2 subs, each on their own amp (hifonics brutus BXI 2610D.
the subs are dual voice coil 2 ohm's at about 2300RMS.
i plan to wire the subs down to 1 ohm. the amps put out 2600 at 1 ohm, and the subs can handle that power.
