What a total waste of a classic Imperial ! The car is worth investing 10 grand, even if its market value would be much less. Can't you find some Fords or Chevys for your ridiculous demolition derby?
i saved a rust free '73 newport with no front suspension or dash from going to a scrap yard a few months back, itll prob never see the road again, but at least she will still live!
Whoever used them nice MOPARS for derbys is a simpleton. The equivalent of a retard who just enjoys smashing shit to giggle at it stupidly. Well, at least the retard has an excuse, you don't.
Dad purchased a used 18,000 mile 68 chrysler imperial from his best friend in 1970. Was the greatest family car we ever got. great body, interior, ride; only had it for 3-4 years. Never should have sold it; that along with Thompson/Chris Craft 62' 19 foot boat.
This is heartbreaking. A beautiful machine like that being destroyed for nothing. When I was a little kid, demo derbies made me cry, I felt so bad about all the nice old Packards and Nashes being smashed and wrecked. They still make me sad.
Wow, I just looked at all your derby videos-looks like so much fun! I owned a 68 Imperial convertible and it was a tank. I got rear ended by a Plymouth mini-van while I was in the Imperial. The Imperial suffered damage in the rear and the front ( the van was going so fast-he pushed the Imperial into the car in front of me). The van was a crumpled mess as well as the rear of the car he pushed me into. I had the Imperial repaired and it is still on the road somewhere in New York now.
How can you destroy a nice restorable car like this? There are so few left....Jay Leno has a coupe....please restore it, or sell it to someone who will fix her the way she deserves. So what if she only gets 5 mpg???
@mrdestoryit yeah we sometimes have 80's and newer derbies but when you can get your hands on a car like this it just sends immediate thoughts of..... driving right through a 90's caprice without getting a scratch. lol
@peaveyamp38 Much funner? You MUST be an idiot to think smashing these cars is fun. I bet smashing your face would be even 'much much much more gooder and funner'.
@peaveyamp38 Ok, then, jump in your Toyota or whatever crappy car you drive daily, get on a highway, speed up to about 100mph, and then crash it head on into a concrete foundation or something similar....seatbelt optional. You won't be the only one loving that crash.
@300drop what is your god damn problem? did i insult you? no! if you like the cars so fucking much go buy them all, restore them and they will all go to the same place eventually, the scrap yard!
@peaveyamp38 I have two restored Chryslers..a 67 New Yorker and a 68 300 convertible. Now you can see that I do love these cars. I wish I could buy them all so that they didn't get trashed, but I can't. Somewhere out there, someone is restoring one and you're smashing good replacement parts for a moronic thrill. Just dumb. By the way, unless my cars get completely totalled in an accident, they will NEVER end up in a junk yard.
This should be interesting. The 360 will be a better demo engine than the 440. I'm like an addict with these old cars in demos. It's wrong, but the temptation is overwhelming. I did a solid 73 black Imperial in 86 and had mixed feelings even then! It was cool.
@big500guy the derby i was going to run this car in just banned imperials so the car is safe for now, I'm going to put a 440 back in it and use it as a driver for awhile
@k73mrviking You might get kind of warm and fuzzy toward it after a while. That would be the humane way to go. I wouldn't mind driving it. I got a 76 Delta intending to demo it. Found out it had 52,000 on it. Couldn't bring myself to do it. 10 yrs. later I still have it.
I dont know if i like the idea of killing off classic cars in a demolition derby. Sure, its cool and all, but I just dont have a good feeling about it, because classic cars are better off being restored and kept for use. I say use all these dumb ass cars of the 90s and 2000s instead.
It's a Chrysler Imperial, plain and simple. Built by Chrysler, sold at Chrysler dealers, with Chrysler engines, suspensions & components. It's like saying a RAM truck is no longer a Dodge !!! Silly ! Really !

@williamg2552 chrysler imperial or imperial crown, what would get more views? More people know them at a chrysler imperial. I know the history of imperials, but MOST people dont.
@williamg2552 your strangely anal about this aren't you?I got a Plymouth Volare a Dodge Dart and Chrysler Newport and all of em are built by the same company that built the Imperial model/division.My 65 newport's owners manual was published by the Imperial division under the supervision of CHRYSLER CORP.
The Imperial line was nothing but a marketing ploy by CHRYSLER CORP.
I bet your the kind of guy that calls the old poly-318 a "big block " aren't you?
The aftermarket has pretty much zilch available for Imperials, or C bodies in general, so if you don't find one that's already restored or at least a clean driver, you're better off selling the parts you don't need and derbying it. Restoring one like in this video would cost WAY more than it's worth, and besides, if somebody wanted it why was it left to rot like that?
i really dont understand some demo derby guys...i can tell most of them are into older detroit iron, and they get all excited when they find an old "barn find"...but why the fuck would you want to wreck something like this?? from what i see the body looks virtually rust free, even if its not pristine i would much rather use this as a driver..cars like these are so much cooler than the shit you see on the roads today..i just dont understand why you'd destroy it if you think its a "cool" car...
@vans1107 This car is sweet, and if i would have found it years sooner it would be my driver. I have looked into restoring it and it would not be worth the money put into it, It was going to be crushed for scrap, now all the chrome etc will be saved and sold. but the car itself will be crushed by me.
@k73mrviking Its hard to explain to people why we do the things we do but when its in your blood and until you have ran cars like this they will never understand. It's ashame to trash a car like that, but if you hadn't bought it it would have just rotted away to nothing anyway. At least now someone will be able to buy the parts you decide to sell. Good luck in the Derby!!☺
This month we have pulled two 76 Impalas. A 76 Newport bomber. And today I let a 76 Catalina go in the crusher it had the roof cut off. One of the Impalas came in crushed. We pulled the roof out with a fork lift. Should have shot that ! It was funny as hell. The Ford guys would die. We have crushed 10 + Crown Vics! Too much work to run with old iron. We only have room to save the good stuff.
Out of the thousands of these cars that were made, most have gone to the crusher. Somehow, by the grace of God, this car survived for 40 years. If you really plan on entering this car in a demolition derby i must say i dont approve.
@k73mrviking Their tons of forums out there where you find folks trying to track down rare cars. Even found out theirs a site for people that actually like crappy ford tempos. I go to the world of wheels and other car shows every year. and I've never seen a late 60s imperial. That just makes me think its worth something.
@FelixTheHouseFreak this car restored is not worth much. not much of a following for them. the inside is trashed. and has some rust in places that would cost tons to fix. i also restore cars but this one is not worth the money you would have to put in it.
My opinion, because the imperial is a super rare car, I would've restored it just to drive & cruise around in. I'm disappointed it'll become a derby car & be thrown right back where it was before, but to rot & decay, sad day for the imperial. Nice car though.
@cwazmann1 yes the car is nice. but the inside is trashed all the vacuum lines are gone it would take tons a money to bring her back. and then you have a 4 door car that no one wants. I love to restore car but 4 doors just dont do it for me. all the good parts will be sold to someone want to restore a two door
@k73mrviking Thanks for clarifying that with me, I thought the car was whole, whew!! I agree wit you about the cars with four doors, tehy aren't popular much & I know four door chevy's aren't popular too. Anyways, will you be doing project updates on it when you transform it into a derby car? You got me pumped & wishing I could be part of the derby too, but for now I'm struggling to own a car for myself. Peace!!
@7demoderby The plan is to always start over the winter so we dont have to rush. but that never seam to work out. to many other projects going on. I hope to have the car to drive over the winter. i think it will be a kick ass winter car. then come spring she wil be stripped down and built over the summer.
I had a 69 Imperial with a big ass 440. it's amazing how much difference one year makes. Mine had flip down light covers and sequential taile lights... power EVERYTHING, vacuum actuated everything too (what a nightmare those vacuum lines were to keep on top of, obviously if one cracked or whatever, the engine would run like shit. LoL
@k73mrviking I finally grabbed a vacuum line map and replaced ALL of them. Sold the car years ago to an enthusiast. I am hoping he kept her nice like he promised. Fortunately Imperials are banned from demo derbies up here, they are considered an unfair advantage. LoL
Nnnooooooooo!!!!!!! Not a imperial they are indestructable you will be able to run it 4-5 years for sure. Im glad I will not be running against you. Unless you go powder puff.
Man, this car is in too good of shape to run in a derby!
Restore the Beast! :)
Talk about a Cool Blvd Cruiser!
Drop it down a bit, add a good sound system in the Cavernous trunk, tint the windows, Oh yes, and Don't forget the little dog with the bobbing head in the back window! :)
Yes, I know, these old beasts are built so solid (about 5500 lbs) that they were outlawed from some Derbys, as they were an unfair advantage!
I had a green 68, that was given to me in high school, a family friend drove it into the yard, and handed me the keys. It had 168,000 on it, and 1 piston was blowing serious oil, in the end it went to the wreckers, but I still have the 440 motor and some of the Imperial Eagles and a 14 lb Hubcap!!! :)
@ChargerMiles007 the 440 is long gone . all the vacuum lines are gone or rotten. the inside is trashed (sitting with the window open for ten years. i would love to bring it back to life but dont have the cash.
Yes, I can understand about not having the cash to do a project.
My son has spent like 12,000 building up a 72 Charger, the car is rock solid, and now runs 12.7 in the 1/4 mile, but needs stickier tires to andle the 440's brute power, since the tires don't bite until 80-mph. But the car is still in grey primer, so we know how much even partially restoring an older car can be. You have to truly have a love for that particular car, to put in the time, effort and money Take care.
@k73mrviking I'm really looking for one but you're to far away. If you happen to be over there ask about it . Don't make a trip out there just for that. It has to be 100% rust free for what i need it for. It also has to be fairly cheap as they don't last long for what i do with them.
What a total waste of a classic Imperial ! The car is worth investing 10 grand, even if its market value would be much less. Can't you find some Fords or Chevys for your ridiculous demolition derby?

Wow you actually use nice classics like this in derbys? That makes me sad...
FelixTheHouseFreak 1 year ago
@FelixTheHouseFreak this car restored is not worth much. not much of a following for them. the inside is trashed. and has some rust in places that would cost tons to fix. i also restore cars but this one is not worth the money you would have to put in it.
k73mrviking 1 year ago
nice car very clean but look and make sure the trany is good they brake like nothing in those cars
swampfoxzzmotorsport 1 year ago
@swampfoxzzmotorsport the motor and tranny are long gone. i will be slapping a 360 in it soon
k73mrviking 1 year ago
nice find dude, should be a beast for a while, drive it like it stole it lol
3762569 1 year ago
@3762569 I think i will drop a motor in it and drive it for my winter car.
k73mrviking 1 year ago
@k73mrviking lol thats awesome
3762569 1 year ago
My opinion, because the imperial is a super rare car, I would've restored it just to drive & cruise around in. I'm disappointed it'll become a derby car & be thrown right back where it was before, but to rot & decay, sad day for the imperial. Nice car though.
cwazmann1 1 year ago
@cwazmann1 yes the car is nice. but the inside is trashed all the vacuum lines are gone it would take tons a money to bring her back. and then you have a 4 door car that no one wants. I love to restore car but 4 doors just dont do it for me. all the good parts will be sold to someone want to restore a two door
k73mrviking 1 year ago
@k73mrviking Thanks for clarifying that with me, I thought the car was whole, whew!! I agree wit you about the cars with four doors, tehy aren't popular much & I know four door chevy's aren't popular too. Anyways, will you be doing project updates on it when you transform it into a derby car? You got me pumped & wishing I could be part of the derby too, but for now I'm struggling to own a car for myself. Peace!!
cwazmann1 1 year ago
@cwazmann1 yes i will be doing the build in Parts like it did with the fury build last year. Peace!
k73mrviking 1 year ago
Nice. When do you start to build your cars and how long does it take?
7demoderby 1 year ago
@7demoderby The plan is to always start over the winter so we dont have to rush. but that never seam to work out. to many other projects going on. I hope to have the car to drive over the winter. i think it will be a kick ass winter car. then come spring she wil be stripped down and built over the summer.
k73mrviking 1 year ago
Damn ur lucky. I wish I can find big cars like that. Were I'm from we don't have any backwoods junkyards like that.
7demoderby 1 year ago
@7demoderby yes this was a rare find. We picked up 5 cars total
k73mrviking 1 year ago

I had a 69 Imperial with a big ass 440. it's amazing how much difference one year makes. Mine had flip down light covers and sequential taile lights... power EVERYTHING, vacuum actuated everything too (what a nightmare those vacuum lines were to keep on top of, obviously if one cracked or whatever, the engine would run like shit. LoL

Goregoon 1 year ago
@Goregoon i be,t the 440 and most of the vacuum line are long gone now
k73mrviking 1 year ago
@k73mrviking I finally grabbed a vacuum line map and replaced ALL of them. Sold the car years ago to an enthusiast. I am hoping he kept her nice like he promised. Fortunately Imperials are banned from demo derbies up here, they are considered an unfair advantage. LoL
Goregoon 1 year ago
Nnnooooooooo!!!!!!! Not a imperial they are indestructable you will be able to run it 4-5 years for sure. Im glad I will not be running against you. Unless you go powder puff.

@mcdooby1 yes i can't wait to start the build
k73mrviking 1 year ago
Man, this car is in too good of shape to run in a derby!
Restore the Beast! :)
Talk about a Cool Blvd Cruiser!
Drop it down a bit, add a good sound system in the Cavernous trunk, tint the windows, Oh yes, and Don't forget the little dog with the bobbing head in the back window! :)
I had a 68 Imperial back in high school :)
ChargerMiles007 1 year ago
@ChargerMiles007 she is in nice shape but she is a beast of a derby car
k73mrviking 1 year ago
@k73mrviking

ChargerMiles007 1 year ago
@ChargerMiles007 the 440 is long gone . all the vacuum lines are gone or rotten. the inside is trashed (sitting with the window open for ten years. i would love to bring it back to life but dont have the cash.
k73mrviking 1 year ago
@k73mrviking
You have to truly have a love for that particular car, to put in the time, effort and money Take care.

you should pull the trim off the that imperial and sell it, its in real nice shape.
NathansBackwoods 1 year ago
@NathansBackwoods yes all the trim will be saved.

I've been looking for a Pinto Runabout . How much ? Doesn't need a engine and trans.
231flash 1 year ago
@231flash I have no clue on the pinto. but i can find out.
k73mrviking 1 year ago
@k73mrviking I'm really looking for one but you're to far away. If you happen to be over there ask about it . Don't make a trip out there just for that. It has to be 100% rust free for what i need it for. It also has to be fairly cheap as they don't last long for what i do with them.
