What are the laws in the UK for suppressors? From my weak understanding of European gun laws, suppressor are not tightly regulated in most EU countries. Here in the US they constitute the same paperwork as a machinegun.

@slt223 Stupid part is most people can own them with no paperwork for use on airguns (below certain power levels). If you want a proofed one for a high power air rifle, rimfire, or center fire then you need a firearms aqasition certificate (which you need for anything classed as a firearm anyway), but it has to stipulate "and sound moderator" next to the gun you want it for, so you need to give good reason to the police for it before they will write it down... but for most people that's easy.

@RemFireball great reply... and as more people complain about noise most range rifles can get them too... in the uk you have specific uses for each rifle you own... say that you have a 30-06 range rifle.. you can only use it at the range and not for hunting.... likewise if you have a 30-06 for deer it can only be used at the range for zeroing and only used for deer.....  tool for the job in the uk...

Uhm might i ask what the difference in between a moderator and a silencer?

I already know that no silencer can completely mute a shot because the sound of the bullet breaking the sound barrier will still be there. So you're gonna need special bullets which doesen't in any case..

thats a huge surpressor, looks almost like you cant see down the barrel, but obviously you CAN, how much was it? and is it easily installed?

@FiZzHD Yeah its quite large compared to some and the ruger is not a large rifle.. so it looks bigger than it is.. Getting the end of the barrel screw cut and re proofed was fairly simple... and the moderator is an over barrel fit and screws on and off with great ease..

Dude, you're full of shit on BOTH counts. They are nowhere near that expensive to fire OR own the weapon itself. They are expensive, but nowhere near that expensive. They right around the same range of cost for firing and owning as a relatively well made 50 BMG - meaning the rifle will cost between 5 and 10 thousand dollars (for a good one) and the rounds are between 7 and 15 dollars a shot. Check your facts, because I did.

The ammo he left at his home in the US is bulk ammo and it is just under $31 per cartridge reloaded. He once said the ammo he used to hunt dangerous game with ran him nearly $100 bucks per round. I sold the .600 after shooting all the ammo for $49,000 dollars. The guy who bought the gun paid $14 per round for empty brass.

Look for an older Sako Finnfire they are superb an absolute gem... if not go with the CZ i have a 53 year old BRNO bolt action.. never miss... 49 rounds within 1 inch in 3 mins from 75 yds.. no kidding look up the Finnfire
