@eddyage Hi Eddy yeah on the .243 i see you have the Pred 8... The one on the Hornet is the Pred 8 Compact.. same design principals though.. a good Moderator and the dirtier it gets the more effective it is...
@basbed yeah back to front.. its deliberate.. makes a good carry and resting point when resting on gates and fenceposts at night.. protects the forend.. ;-)
What are the laws in the UK for suppressors? From my weak understanding of European gun laws, suppressor are not tightly regulated in most EU countries. Here in the US they constitute the same paperwork as a machinegun.
@slt223 Stupid part is most people can own them with no paperwork for use on airguns (below certain power levels). If you want a proofed one for a high power air rifle, rimfire, or center fire then you need a firearms aqasition certificate (which you need for anything classed as a firearm anyway), but it has to stipulate "and sound moderator" next to the gun you want it for, so you need to give good reason to the police for it before they will write it down... but for most people that's easy.
@RemFireball great reply... and as more people complain about noise most range rifles can get them too... in the uk you have specific uses for each rifle you own... say that you have a 30-06 range rifle.. you can only use it at the range and not for hunting.... likewise if you have a 30-06 for deer it can only be used at the range for zeroing and only used for deer..... tool for the job in the uk...
The proper name Silencer has since fallen out of favor with some among the firearms industry, being replaced with the more literally accurate term sound suppressor or just moderator, because a "sound suppressor / moderator" does not "silence" any weapon, rather it eliminates muzzle flash and reduces the sonic pressure of a firearm discharging.
@nickglotus the proper name is a supessor! just after the vietname war their was a supressor realed called a hush puppy. they where given to the navy seals. furthur on civilians where alowed to by them and it was only the upper class people who could get hold of them. they dident like the name supressor so they called it a silencer and more and more people called it that so supressor has been replaced with silencer. get it right.
@HarveyTheHunter Hiram P. Maxim, he formed the Maxim Silencer Company in 1908.
As an outdoorsman, a hunter, and target shooter, Maxim had an idea come to him as he was shooting near neighbors and was sensitive to their peace and quiet.
Over years of development, Maxim developed a fairly effective silencer that was largely popular and sold commercially in local hardware stores for $3.25 per unit.
@nickglotus this was a company in 1908 cool but yh sorry if i was rong but i learnt this from others but im sure the first silencer or supreeser what eva you wish to call it was given to the navy seals and was called a hush puppy?
@HarveyTheHunter Im not sure on that one but youre probably correct.. im sure if i delve into my books there will be ref to the Hushpuppy.. what i know may fill a book but it will never fill a library ;-) all the best
@HarveyTheHunter Maxim coined the term “silencer” by including the word in the name of his business; however, there has never been such thing as a literal silencer. Firearms suppressors have been noted as sound suppressors, sound moderators, mufflers, silencers, and the slang term, “cans”.
Uhm might i ask what the difference in between a moderator and a silencer?
I already know that no silencer can completely mute a shot because the sound of the bullet breaking the sound barrier will still be there. So you're gonna need special bullets which doesen't in any case..
@kissmyasssuckers plus if you hit em' in the head, it isnt strong enough to go through both sides, so it bounces around your skull mashing your brain up.
@twiztid6430 Its not a silencer it is a moderator and reduces the noise by about 60%,, using it at night lamping the hornet is loud... and during the day stops bunnies hearing the rapport ;-)
@ThePhan7em The Moderator (not Silencer) is larger than a rimfire moderator and Air powered rifles.. The hornet is a centre fire and is an effective size.
If i grow up any more i'll probably die.. im 44 years old ha ha ha ha ha
I never owned a rental car my entire life and my old 4x4 used for hunting is a V6... ;-)

@FiZzHD Yeah its quite large compared to some and the ruger is not a large rifle.. so it looks bigger than it is.. Getting the end of the barrel screw cut and re proofed was fairly simple... and the moderator is an over barrel fit and screws on and off with great ease..
I get a slight shadow when lamping and there is no problem during daylight
@lebricify Hi there... Fox is a killing machine.. i control the numbers... they could clean out my stock of Chickens and Geese in an evening.. Trapping them and moving them is no good just tranx the problem.. so the quick painless option is best... ;-(
@lebricify ur a dickhead....foxs are a menace in most countrys....most country australians go fox hunting every couple of days for crying out loud...america is probably just as bad...there numbers are huge and they go through everything that can 2 get ur live stock..yes all they did was live...but unfortuantly there trying 2 live on our food wich cant happen...grow up its not something we all enjoy its wat must be done
Weight - 680g (23 ounces) Length - 206mm (8 inches) Diameter - 50mm (2 inches) Calibre - up to .243
These moderator only add 95mm to the overall length of the rifle when fitted. Rear of the moderator is supported on a derin bush The Wildcat moderators are made entirely from Stainless Steel, the exit hole at the muzzle of these Wildcat Moderators is adjustable to take a larger calibre if you change rifles These Wildcat Moderators are strippable for cleaning
There was no mention of or link to that video so I came across it myself shortly after and gave it a positive... So now you know why your getting thumbs down here...your welcome.
Dude, you're full of shit on BOTH counts. They are nowhere near that expensive to fire OR own the weapon itself. They are expensive, but nowhere near that expensive. They right around the same range of cost for firing and owning as a relatively well made 50 BMG - meaning the rifle will cost between 5 and 10 thousand dollars (for a good one) and the rounds are between 7 and 15 dollars a shot. Check your facts, because I did.
@aepceo1 Most ammo for the .600 nitro is at least $40 per round. My rich uncle spent nearly all his time in Africa hunting whatever he could before he died. The ammo he left at his home in the US is bulk ammo and it is just under $31 per cartridge reloaded. He once said the ammo he used to hunt dangerous game with ran him nearly $100 bucks per round. I sold the .600 after shooting all the ammo for $49,000 dollars. The guy who bought the gun paid $14 per round for empty brass.
@hookitbigger I'm not debating retail costs - I'm saying cost of production is nowhere near that. Also note, I've seen these weapons go for far less than what is being said here. They are very rare and that's why they're so expensive, the demand isnt very high so most are custom made, so is the cartridge.
@hookitbigger He once said the ammo he used to hunt dangerous game with ran him nearly $100 bucks per round.HORSESHIT The 700 Nitro Express 1000 grains $250.00 for FIVE. That's the largest round he could have used and that's 50 bucks a bullet......half of what the old bullshiter told you.
If you shot $49,000 of ammo....you're a moron. But seeing that you have your numbers all wrong,,,even if u shot $25,000 of ammo.....you're still a moron. LOL
uh yeah i wana see some action, lets hear that silencer, it most likely dont even work, and why dont you show some vermin gettin dispatched, that is a varmint slaying round you freak
Look for an older Sako Finnfire they are superb an absolute gem... if not go with the CZ i have a 53 year old BRNO bolt action.. never miss... 49 rounds within 1 inch in 3 mins from 75 yds.. no kidding look up the Finnfire
@nickglotus you're welcome and i see that you are a great gun owner that keeps his gun beautiful and clean and it's really nice to see that so i subscribed
