I was there--Winterland (SF)( $5 - 1974)..Headliner: Jefferson Starship. 2nd band: Blue Oyster Cult. #3--Kansas. As we walked in, I thought, Kansas--country rock--Boy, was I wrong!
Can you EVEN imagine seeing that band in a bar setting???.......Must have blown the roof off with that kind of musicianship, and singing!!!!.....Thanks very, very much for posting that vid.....!!
I caught a buncha years back in Boston, opening for Yes. Summer outdoor concert at Harborlights. With the sunset, Boston Harbor, and planes taking off and landing for a backdrop, it was magical.
Great intro, I had no idea Robbie was classically trained. I figured Steve had to be...
I'm with rickyon -- I wish all the old Kirshner "Rock Concert" footage was available on DVD. I'd never seen this before and it's great. Thanks for posting it!
WOW!!! This is the song I heard on the radio in 1975 that got me hooked instantly on Kansas! What an amazing performance! I know that Mr. Basement either taped it himself or got a copy from someone from this Kirshner show! I wish Kansas would release the entire performances from the "Rock Concert" shows! I have the box set but there are only 4 songs from each show there! The two songs that Arizona has from this show are the best versions I have heard yet on you-tube! Thanks for all this stuff!
No and maybe my comment was misleading. I heard the song from the album on the radio. This VHS tape of his has 2 songs that were not on the "Sail On" box set not to mention the cool intro by the man himself! I actually did not see the first Kirschner appearance because I didn't know of them then. This is why You-Tube is so important. It allows you to catch the things you did not see and to reminisce about the things you did see and hear!
This is one of the 2 songs. The other is from this same show "Mysteries and Mayhem". This guy has them both. They can also be found elsewhere here on youtube in better quality. Check out my channel for the mother lode of early Kansas material. Ever heard of White Clover?
incredibly tight - yes, it doesn´t get better than this

I agree, the Kirshner shows from 74 and this one from 75 had great cameramen that filmed solos. Thanks for posting AB!!

I don't believe it! A live Kansas video with a split screen on the guitar solos! And the cameramen are on the right people when they solo! Very rare!
