@DoS37 The problem is, it is integral to most religions to spread themselves. Or else how could your religion be the right one, if nobody was aware of it? Also, some religions call for death, or some other demeaning act, to nonbelievers of their faith. No. religion has to go, people should be educated enough to see it for the flim flam that it is. Unfortunately, at this time, most people are not.

I think that religion eventually will be phased out. But there is no point in telling people what to believe,then we're as "bad" as the religious once we say are irrational. Yes, most religious texts talks about death of vengeance, but there's a minority of people practicing these teachings. The majority of religious people in the rich world believes in the "good" part of their religion, and so do we. we just have a concrete plan how to get there.

It has influenced our cultures, science and lives dramatically. Up until very, very recently most scientists have always been religious. Even so, science is agnostic so to speak. It can 'enlighten' us as much as a Russell's teapot would were it proven right.

Good point Fresco made on "They dont even know what their reading" I find that most of my christian friends have never fully read the bible for even more than one book [bible]. They just take someone elses word for the damn book. Like teachers, priests, pastors, etc. When I read the book of propaganda from cover to cover, I convinced my self and among other things to turn away from this Dogmatic belief system!

religion is too deeply rooted in our minds to simple be forgotten about in any short amount of time. even i, a person who believes in no god, find myself referencing biblical text all the time. as long as parents pound the need for religious obedience into there children's heads it will continue to keep a foot hold over our society. if one wants religion to go away than they need to pound a fierce independence, from such things, into there children's heads.
