  • Just bout this optic from a local pawn shop, mounted it to my Rock River LAR Elite Entry Operator.. this is a very deadly combination. I use it for a number of events such as 3 gun, recreational shooting, CQM, even coyote hunting.. this optic is legit and the more you use it and understand it, the possibilities are amazing! Great post btw

  • @99bigdrill05 I have always liked the simplicity of the Aimpoint red dot. Its a great optic and very reliable. Good luck with yours!

  • I love the Aimpoint and opted for the m4s. Only issue with the mount you have is that it is difficult to manipulate the charging handle on weapons like the ACR and SCAR (with charging handle on the left). However, it works great on traditional AR platforms. I have one on a POF.

  • you can flip the LT mount around either way you want

  • all the beef aside.., u tryin to sell that carry handle mount??

  • Nice report. I've had an Eotech for over a year now and haven't had to change my battery yet. It does have a fail safe mechanism which prevents it from staying on for longer than 8 hours at a time. Also, if you were concerned about the retention knob getting caught on your left, aren't you able to unscrew the to screws securing the mount to the red dot, and flip the mount around so the knob is on the right?

  • @asfaultrider Hi, I also thought that you could switch the mount around but the mount and aimpoint is keyed in a certain way that you cant reverse the mount.

  • used one on my deployment, they work great!

  • can i fit an aimpoint M4 on a Glock handgun?

  • @bbondoq You might want to look at the micro, Its just as strong but lighter and cheaper.

  • @SpiritOffAdventure22 I"m looking to get the Micro T1 with LaRue mount. I shot one the other weekend and feels great and it also is light as a feather.

  • does the flip caps come with the optic? because i am thinking about gettin one, but i would have to make sure i have them.. what do i have to do to get them?

  • @AR15CARRIER I found mine online and they are original Aimpoint flip up covers

  • EOTech have up to 1000hrs of battery life and a 4 to 8 hr auto shut off. They don't just die. The reason they don't have the same battery life is because they use a laser instead of led for the sight.

  • I love aimpoints. Have EOTech as well. Never fogged up on me though.

  • What does night vision compatible mean? Can you use this sight as a NV monocular to see in the dark?

  • @IMFDB Yes, when it is in the NV mode, you cannot see it with the naked eye. When you are wearing NV goggles, you will be able to see the dot in total darkness.

  • @chanderson1 Thanks for the info. For the last 2 years I thought the sight had night vision on it. I guess the AN/PVS-14 will be a perfect combo for it.

  • @chanderson1 Is their any way you can have the optic, 3x magnifier and a AN/PVS-14 to function on one rifle?

  • @IMFDB That would be quite a bit of weight. They do make dedicated NV sights, but to get a 4th gen NV is really expensive.

  • comp m4 does not come in a 4moa the comp m3 does come in a 4moa

  • hey man you have great videos. Keep em up. I love getting new info.

  • I was gonna buy one of these for my airsoft gun until I found out it cost 200 bucks more than the airsoft gun itself lol

  • @flappymcbobjoe35 They are pricey but well worth it, but I dont think I'd ever spend that kind of money on a set of optics for an airsoft though. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

  • @chanderson1

Great review as always.I enjoy watching your videos, keep'm coming

  • @juan6810 Hey buddy, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!

  • @flappymcbobjoe35 I wish they were $200.00 It's $750.00 to buy this red dot if you get the real thing.

  • i have a big knob and im right handed

  • Question... With the mounting adapter for a ar-15 style carry handle. Can you still use the iron sights with the adapter installed. If so does it also co-witness with rear sight, aimpoint and front sight?

  • @cardinal6100 hi, sorry but I couldn't answer that. My aimpoint did come with that mount but I never used it since mine was a flat top. it may be possible but I have no experience with this type of mounting.

  • Will the standard mount still hold zero after being removed and reinstalled?

  • @evoguyson Yes, it does really well at holding zero after re-mount because its got a torque knob, which keeps the mounting pressure the same every time.

  • How much??????????

  • @josephtorres11 It all depends on where you go to get it. The prices vary so much, but they are on average about $590-$670

  • Hey Bud,

Your in Florida so am I where can I go to purchase stores that sell Aimpoint?

    Thanks

    Joe Torres

  • @josephtorres11 Hi, Shoot Straight in Tampa has these. I think they may have a location in Orlando also.

  • It appears that you can rotate the mounting knob to the other side. Can you?

  • @a2birdcage Nope. The mounting bracket will not allow you to do this.

  • If you've owned an Eotech before then you should know it will turn itself off if you forget! Just saying from a previous Eotech 512 owner...

  • @drewpert15 first generation of Eotechs didnt do this

  • @chanderson1 10-4 Didn't know that thanks. Nice Aimpoint man.

  • i found out that airborne uses this, friend who was in Rangers (now a green beret) perfers this sight for combat over anything other than the trijicon which can be expensive

  • @gunsgalore762 You are right, my son is in the 82nd airborne and it is the scope they used in Afghanistan. He had no problems with the scope at all and they were not allowed to use the ACOG which is the only scope other than the Aimpoint he would have liked to use!:)

  • would you recommend putting this sight on a pivot mount

  • @fierwall5 I really like the solid base that comes stock. Its rock solid.

  • If the lock knob comes off,you can have a machinist

shave off an amount of metal, and see if that becomes

    a snag free knob.

    Great video.

  • After watching your vid a little closer I have to say... that dot looks HUGE!!! Maybe it's just the camera, but my 4moa looks smaller than that 2moa dot.

  • @Highjak86 I really think its the camera and how it focuses on things. Its a 2moa dot but I dont know if the video represents this accurately.

  • @chanderson1 I'll try to take a video this week of my CompM2 to compare.

  • @Highjak86 ive looked through one of these, and i was one of the sceptics. the dot is tiny. it looks the same as the eotechs dot.

  • @copperjarhead The EO's center dot is 1moa where the Aimpoint optics only come in 2moa and 4moa I believe.

  • @Highjak86 i know, i own a eotech 553, and i have looked through a aimpoint comp m3 2 moa. i saw no difference between the two sizes.

  • @copperjarhead Oh ok, I gotcha. My bad.

  • it's the camera. i bought the COMP M2 4 MOA prior to my deployment to Iraq, because i've used the M68 during my service, and i absolutely loved it. Until, my second deployment to Iraq, we were issued the COMP M4's, and the optic was absolutely flawless, i also brought my 3X as well and it made it easier for semi LR and CQB. the 2 MOA made a big difference out to 200+ yards. the COMP M2 is great as well, but the COMP M4 was pinpoint. i regret purchasing my COMP M2 and wished i got the M4 instead.

  • I have a CompM2 with a 4MOA dot. I don't claim to be a great shot, but I can put rounds in about the size of a half dollar at 100 yards from the bench no problem. At 200 yds they're about a 5 inch group. So, I'm basically saying 4MOA is definitely not just good for 20yds. I think the 4MOA optics (at least the Comp M2 vs the Comp ML3) are a little bit cheaper. If you're looking to purchase one of these and want to save some cash don't let the 4MOA turn you off.

  • @Highjak86 Good points! I've tried shooting with a 4MOA Aimpoint at 100 yds before and I guess my eyesight is just a little off. It seemed though with 4MOA shooting at a 4" or 8" plate at 100 yds, the dot would almost cover the smaller plate or maybe that was just me not being able to focus ..lol. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!

  • @chanderson1 I shoot 8inch paper targets and at 100yds the dot doesn't entirely cover the target. I turn the brightness down as far as I can get away with. At 200 it's a lot harder to see the target. We did shoot clay pigeons sitting on the 200 yd berm and the dot definitely covered the whole clay. I think those are 4 or 5 inch clays. Could really use the 3x magnifier for that distance.

  • Thinking of selling my EOTech and looking fo another type of tactical sight. Thinking of this or the Aimpoint acog. I realy like the chevron with the bullet elevation drop. At first I thought the Aimpoint used the chevron too but from your vids I only hear dots. Thanks for the review.

  • @siambxr Yes, the Aimpoint only has the dot. I have the Trijicon ACOG and you can get those with the chevron or doughnut reticle.

  • do you still currently consider this your favorite optic? im thinking of getting one

  • @neckcranker310 If I had to buy another one, I think I would go with the T1 Micro

  • @chanderson1 im so torn i like the smallness of the T1, i just wish flip up lens covers were possible. ..do u think that the pure awesomeness of the micro T1 overshadows the importance of lens covers ?

  • @neckcranker310 If I had to decide between the two, I would definetly go with the T1, actually I would go with the newer H1 which has no NV settings and is a little cheaper in price. The flip up covers are nice to have on the m4 but I would prefer the the smaller, lighter more compact T1

  • @neckcranker310 I also forgot to mention that when I attend carbine classes, I find myself taking the flip covers totally off the M4 just because they tend to get in the way.

  • do you still currently consider this your favorite optic?

  • i'm sorry i'm a lil red-green colourblind so it looks sorta green to me; is it actually red? since it's a red-dot sight lol

  • Hey man, love the video. I plan on ordering one shortly. Can I ask where you ordered yours from? The aimpoint site is really expensive. Also, Where did you get the flip down aimpoint sights at? I've looked all over but I can't seem to find them. I'm thinking I just keep missing them when I get on the Aimpoint website...

  • @13marineE Look on ebay, thats where I bought mine from. I got it for roughly $650 shipped. Be very careful and make sure its authentic before purchasing. I got mine used, but the guy never mounted on gun at all. It came with everything and I got it within a few days. Again, there are alot of fakes out there, just make sure its real. Also you may want to check out Botach Tactical, they have some great deals sometimes.

  • @chanderson1 Thanks for the info man.

  • is it worth $650?

  • @Maloner78 Worth every penny. Well made and solid as a rock. Also it returns to zero time after time.

  • Nice review, got a replica of one of these, wish I had a real one but for $40 you can't complain for airsoft.

  • @TheCrushpanzer Thanks, yeah these are quite a chunk of change, but well worth it.

  • @chanderson1 True, around 700 bucks arernt they? the real'ns

  • @TheCrushpanzer I bought mine for about $650. I think they are coming down in price though. I'm looking to get the Micro-T1 or the Trijicon Reflex RX34 next myself.

  • @chanderson1 $650 is still a lot of money though, I like to Micro sights, they are tiny! The thing I'd worry about though is the field of view within the sight... I am thinking of getting a magnifier (again, airsoft replica), the new airsoft rifles, the shots are coming from places where I can't see that far, especially in the forests..

  • 80000 hours is roughly 9.12 years, not 5

  • The long thing on the aimpoint itself is that a laser or something ?

    Please let me know.

  • @myfridaythe13th it the batterey compartment.

  • Isnt it pretty stupid to go through the nv first?, ofcourse not your mistake :D cant you like turn it the other way?

  • @Quartz91 Hi, it will only turn one way so you have to go through all the night vision modes. Once you get use to it, you can turn it consistently to the position your used to, or better yet..just leave it on.

  • @t0met0edance012 This video is almost a year old, prices change!

  • Great range report! Keep it up.

Question: The re-zeroing by removing and remounting the sight, according to the video, was near perfect... How far were your targets when you did the remounts? I am assuming that within 50 yards it's right on target. Have you tried beyond 100 yards?

    Thank you!

  • @accutrigger The re-zeroing is a snap. This mount has a cam lock gear and will lock into place no matter how much wear you have on your picatinny rail. At 200 meters, it will hit minute of man target and at 50 yds, it will blow out the center even after remounting of optics.

  • HI!

About the battery life on this thing:

Just thought I'd mention that the battery doesen't hold that long in extreme cold weather. The battery lifetime can be cut down to just under a year, as a worst case scenario.

Anyway, nice review, keep it up! =)

    Norwegian soldier.

  • one which sight the target acquisition is faster? the aimpoint or eotech?

  • @Dkguerilla Hi, I've had both and both are great sights. I think that with practice on either one, anyone can aquire the target with equal speed.

  • Just got one of these myself, amazing review, thank you. Can't wait to site in my M14

  • @ShizzleMcBizzle Your really going to like it. Its durable and holds zero extremely well. Good luck and thanks for the comment.

  • Where did you get the flip up lens covers, the optic is normally supplied only with the bikini lens covers?

  • Great vid man. I just received my COMP M4s today and it's very nice. I can't wait to take it out for some trigger time. What flip up covers are you using with this optic? I don't like the bikini cover and want something that is quick and isn't easily lost. Keep the good vids comming.

  • @Chrisanderson1

Just FYI, at 1:17 you can read your address clearly on the 720p version. Might want to fix that.

  • @PeteZaria1 Thanks for the info! will try to correct the issue.

  • does those allen screw replace that knob(for mounting). great vids!!

  • @fresnoing No, pretty much there is no option to replace the knob. I am going with a LaRue mount as soon as I get some time I will do a video on it.

  • You can get the Comp M4 right from LaRue with the LaRue mount rather than the Aimpoint mount for the same price.

  • @nn0nix Yes now you can. I bought mine when the first came out and there was really no mounting options back then. Thank you for the comment!

  • gotta love the aimpoints

  • Loved the portions of the video where you described the knob catching onto your gear and the humidity info.

    you sir, are the shit.

5 stars. Subscribed. Cant wait to see more.

  • @EmpathyWorks Thank you! Very glad you liked the videos and I hope to see more of your comments on future vids. Will have some more new vids out shortly. Appreciate the sub and comment!

  • excellent video. I am in the market to buy an optic for my AR. Was looking at the ACOG's, but was told the Aimpoint with a 3x magnifier is the way to go. Do you know price-wise which is cheaper? As in, the aimpoint/3x combo vs an ACOG...Thanks again!

  • Well, the Aimpoint+3x combo would come very close to the ACOGs but it depends on what model ACOG you are looking at. I have the dual illuminated TA31 (tritium+fiber optic) 4x32. I know Trijicon does make an ACOG just below the $1000 mark which would bring it very close to the Aimpoint/3x combo. I love my ACOG, but there is a slight learning curve compared to the plug and play Aimpoints.

  • What are the specific reasons you would select this over the ACOG?

  • Well I have both. I really like the Aimpoint and how simple it is to use. With the Trijicon, there is a slight learning curve. Also the eye relief on my ACOG is very short, so your eyes have to be within a specific distance to operate it. Both are great optics. Both have pros and cons, I shoot mainly within 80 yds or closer and the CompM4 really does a great job at that. The ACOG will do the job at closer targets with training, but it is great for distances at 100+yds.

  • Thanks for the reply. I just purchased a Ruger SR 556 and am trying to decide between the aimpoint compm4s w/ 3x magnifier or the ACOG with Red dot mounted on top. I guess what I am really trying to ask is if the "Shit hits the fan" essentially which is your choice to cover both distance and CQB? Also, will the tritium life render the ACOG worthless after so many years?

  • Hi, I would definetly have to go with the ACOG. Even though the battery life on the Aimpoint is extremely long, the ACOG is not dependent on any batteries. Take a look at the ACOG TA31. It is the model I have. It has dual illumination. Both tritium and fiber optic. It works really great. tritium will not die out totally. It has been known to last over 10 years and tends to dim over time but will not go out. So I would say the ACOG would be my choice

  • i have the eotech 557, and i do like it but its kinda heavy, i havent ever held an aimpoint but they look lighter, im lookin to make my AR15 lighter for more of a tactical advantage...plus i like the red dot a little better than the red dot with the halo ring around the eotech sight, it kinda covers ur target... do u know which is lighter?

  • Hi, to be honest I really dont know which one is lighter. I had the 552 on my rifle awhile back and now I have the Aimpoint. I really cant tell much of a difference.

  • Great video man.

  • Thanks, glad you liked it.

  • I like Aimpoint, but the price is a little high for me. Have you seen the Vortex StrikeFire? very high value.

  • Yeah man, the Aimpoints do get very pricey. There are many options out there besides the Aimpoint and I hope soon they will drop their prices down. The CompM3 and M2 are a little more affordable in the Aimpoint lineup. Although I must say that the Aimpoint CompM4 is built solid and has been battle tested and proven. EoTechs are also great optics. They are more affordable and just as good as any Aimpoint besides battery life.

  • 80k hrs is right around 9yrs.

  • Its a long time

  • Where's the best place online to pick one of these up?

  • I would look first on ebay. Just make sure it is a genuine Aimpoint. There is alot of chinese copies out there. Also OpticsPlanet does have a good selection of Aimpoints.

  • do you know how high the dot sits above a front sight post?

  • Hi, looking through it, the dot sits at exactly above the front site post...almost perfectly!

  • Very good review. I was leaning towards the Aimpoint m3 but is the extra money worth it for the Aimpoint m4? What do you think chanderson?

  • If your not going to be using the night vision settings, then the M3 will perform just as well as the M4. The M3 also has very excellent battery life also, just slightly shorter than the M4. So in my opinon, its really not worth the extra dollars if you dont need the night vision capabilities. Hope that helps out.

  • Thanks but I think the aimpoint m3 has nivision. the Aimpoint m3L is the version without the night viision. Correct me I'm wrong. If I'm right, I guess I'll just go with the aimpoint m3 =)

  • Yes your right. If you get the M3L without NV, then you'll save a couple bucks compared to the M3 and alot of money compared to the M4. I knew they had two different versions of the M3 but I wasnt really sure.

  • Chanderson! I cant decide between an EOTech an aimpoint or a legit scope. I want quick aquisition but i wanna be precise at up to 300yds. Whats your opinion on my situation?

  • How precise are we talking about? With my 4x ACOG, I can hit a torso sized target at 300 yards and slightly beyond. With my Aimpoint, I mainly shoot at an 8" target at 100-150 yds and have no problems. I've never tried the magnifier on either the Aimpoint or Eotechs. If your talking about hitting the 10 circle everytime at that distance, I would recommend a dedicated scope. Something like a NightForce with a little more magnification. They are pricey, but from what I've learned so far...

  • it is better to spend the extra money to get a high quality optic than to spend it on some cheap optic and being disappointed with it later. I know it sounds odd, but most of the optics I've purchased are more than half the cost of the actual weapon, in some cases the optics I have are worth way more than the weapon. The highest magnification I usually go is about 10x. That will allow you to easily hit the 10 ring from 300 yds and beyond. There may be some talented individuals that may...

  • make shots from just about any distance with whatever they have, but I'm not one of those. You can buy the best optics and equipment money can buy, but without proper training and ALOT of time at the range, those high priced optics wont do you a thing. Hope that helps out. Thanks for the comment!

  • not bullet on bullet precise but a nice tight group you know? Im just thinkin about a leupold mark ar... But at 100 yards with that someone will target you with an aimpoint before you can see through your scope and steady it you know?

  • Have you considered the bullet drop compensated Eotech with a magnifier? That seems more like what you are wanting.

  • Thats a good point... I may go with the 517 and a 4x magnifier... Thankls for the idea man!

  • 欲しい

  • WRONG, that sight has a 9 year battery life constant on.

  • Have you had yours on for 9 years straight? I highly doubt it since the optic itself has not been out that long. Before you make such strong statements, you should really do some research. It is "estimated" to roughly 8 years..more or less....anyways who really cares..if the batteries last over a year constant on, its a long time. By the videos you have, I see absolutely nothing to back this up. I actually have one...do you?

  • Great review man. I bought a Colt LE6940 a couple of months ago and I absolutely love it, in the process of doing f.d.e furniture and I will be getting an optic sight. I love the way my rifle looks with that comp M4 as I have seen it in magazines, and just saw one with an eotech and loved it as well. My question is, since I like tight groups at 25-100 yards. I have heard Eotech is a better group shooting sight and the aimpoint is better for moving targets. Any input on this?

  • Will write you a PM.

  • Hey Chanderson,,nice vid. Did you mean the first 7 settings were night vision? Like the green nightvision view?

  • yes the first several settings are for use with night vision equipment. You wont be able to see it with the naked eye. The red dot isnt there unless you put on some night vision gear.

  • Great review! I'm sure you've tried---I guess the mount knob doesn't switch to the starboard side of the gun? Do you know if the Larue mount does? Thanks.

  • Hi, yes I have tried because someone on youtube told me that it could be done...he lied! LOL. Well, I tried many different ways, but the bottom of the mounts only go in one direction because they are keyed. Theres no way around it. I am not sure about the Larue mounts because I dont have one. Thanks for the comment!

  • Very Good review ! I am in the market for sights for an AR I hope to purchase soon. Your review was so good it turn me away from getting a EoTech. I like the features and I live in Florida as well so the fogging of the lenses it terrible for us in out weather. Once again Thank You !

  • Thanks for the kinds words. EoTechs are great optics, but yes mine did have some fogging on the lense. I've actually put the Aimpoint in my freezer and taken it outside on a 95 degree day and absolutely no fogging at all. Its works great down here in florida.

  • Nice review! Very informative. Thanks for posting.

  • Thank you! and thanks for watching!

  • Very Nice Vid . I will be Buying one Thats for Sure!!!!!

  • Thanks, I'm glad it helped out. Thank you for the comment!

  • what type of batterie its using?

  • Just using a single AA energizer lithium.

  • sounds sweet, that was my only problem, these special batteries and stuff like that, aa sounds perfect

  • Actually, 80K hours is 9 years (and a few months) of constant on..

  • Comment removed

  • does it clear the front sight on th ar

  • nope! will not clear the front sight post. I have a yankee hill on it now that do a co-witness with the aimpoint.

  • Great review, thanks for posting! I own an original Comp M 3MOA! Not as good battery life as the newer models but I'm very happy with it! Simple, rugged, and easy to use!

  • Thanks, you cant go wrong with something that has proven its reliability to you. Thos M3s were very tough optics. Thanks for the comment.

  • I agree! But it's actually not an M3, or even an M2, it's an old M from the late 90's! Should be about 10yrs old, but that really says something about Aimpoint quality!

  • Thanks for the review great to see. Looks like a great sight just so you know the Eotech doesnt have the battery life of the aimpoint, but it does turn off after a couple of hours so it wont kill the batteries.

  • Ah yes, I forgot about that. I had an eotech before and I thought that there was some type of auto shutoff. Thanks for the information and I appreciate the comment!

  • where did you found the retractable lense on compm4 like the one we usualyy find on the compm3

  • Hi, I found them online. They are made by Aimpoint and very nice quality. It's been so long since I've ordered them, I totally forget where I got them from, but I'm sure if you google "flip up Aimpoint" they will come up.

  • Comment removed

  • Is anybody familiar with the Comp M3's parallax? I know the M4 has virtually no visible discrepencies in point movement, but I can't find anybody with an M3 near me to see the difference.

  • My friend has a Sig556 with the M3 on his. I can't distinguish the difference in parallax from the M4 and M3 at all.

  • Couple of things:

    1. There is no 4MOA Comp M4.

    2. The killflash is so the bad guy can't see your optic from the front, not to reduce glare on the target.

  • yes, no 4 moa. The kill flash does reduce the glare from your optics so the bad guy has less likely chance of seeing it.

  • thanks for the info .....went down to cheper than gold and they very helpful, looked at the eo , aimpoin and tijico..they had the 3 and not the m4 . i like it ....

  • I was so conflicted between the Trijicon vs. Aimpoint. It was a very painful process because Triji are so nice I liked the choices of reticles and the magX. I ended up going with a Comp 3. In the end If I buy the Aimpoint Magnifier I will probably have spent more than I would have if I went ahead a got a Trijicon but at least I will have the option of going reg to magnified verses being magnified all the time. Deffenetly stung hitting the order button.

  • Yeah man, I know what your talking about. I am fortunate enough to have both the Trijicon TA31 and the Aimpoint CompM4. I love the Trijicon and its magnification, but the eye relief on the 3x mag was horrible. I was never a fan of the Aimpoints until I started to use it more and more. Now it is my most favorite optics.

  • Never shot with an Aimpoint went off what everyone says about them. I am a big beliver in good sights they cost more but in the end it pays off. Buy once; buy the right the first time. I narrowed it down to Aim & Triji was able to discount EO because while I liked their reticle it's MOA was just to large at 100yrds.

  • Your right about having good optics on your rifle. Even on my Rem 700, I put a Leupold scope on it which costs double what the rifle cost me, but it is something that I will only have to buy once and it truely pays off in the end. I've had the EOTech also and got rid of it due to its battery life. I have left my Aimpoint on since I bought it just to test out the battery consumption and it's still going strong after 8 months on the highest setting.

  • thanks alot i been thing about one for my scout

  • I think your gonna like it. I have been using it for awhile now and I love it.
