  • ford sucks thats it

  • looks like they had the ford going faster....bad test

  • @MissMaggieMay97 The difference, which I doubt exists, is so minuscule it doesn't matter. This was a fair test and the Ford was crushed. . . literally.

  • F.O.R.D=D.E.A.D.

  • i drive an explorer :'( lol

  • @ireviewcheapdigital

I drive a 2000 Exolorer... we'd better not roll them over. lol

  • i love the explorer its looks cool and its a good car, so is the volvo but the volvo is safer

  • this test is a bit misleading..ok this explorer is a 2000..but this explorer is built the same as it was when explorer came out in 1990..with just a few changes over the years untill a major change later..so actually they are testing a 1990 explorer to a newer volvo....i will bet ford did not change the structure of the cab on this explorer since 1990 so actually they are testing a vehicle that has 13 year old technology to the volvo ..it is kind of bias

  • anyways im smart and obviously drive a volvo and noticed that people are arguing about the intrusion speed. I don't want to infer what that means, but i'm guessing it is the speed at which the intrusion actually happened. If I punch a wall with no force the wall might intrude at 0.0mph, but if i punch it hard it might intrude at 1.0mph. what i'm saying is, is that the intrusion speed is measuring the speed of the dent not the speed of the car. Ford smakin you in the head with metalgoin12.1

  • Volvo.....respect.

  • I would never own a Ford "Exploder", even if it was free and came filled with money.

  • @arivera3426 Keep the money and sell it ;)

  • @arivera3426 why? because the Ford Explorer is the safest SUV in America and is also considered to be the most reliable and highest quality?

  • @lonespartan31289 ...yeah...right. tell that to all of the previous dead owners of rollovers, exploding tires, third brake light fires, cruise control malfunctions and get this (drum roll) the largest number of Ford Exploders were turned in during the Cash for Clunkers debacle.

keep on dreaming because it will always be a piece of shit Ford.

  • @arivera3426 lol...the explorers getting turned in for cash for clunkers had like 400,000+ miles on them, and the roll overs were caused by firestone tires, a tire company Ford no longer deals with, and the cruise control was only for vehicles with over 540,000 miles on them! so what the fuck are you talking about bad vehicles?

  • @lonespartan31289 ...you are truly a dumbshit. you just contradicted your entire point of view. stfu and go drive your exploder, moron.

  • @arivera3426 what the fuck are you talking about? are you retarded or something?

  • @lonespartan31289 ...get the fuck off of the computer, retard. you're fucking up the bandwidth with your tardo-talk, fucker.

  • @arivera3426 you're a dumbass..

  • @lonespartan31289 ...GODDAMN...YOU AIN'T DEAD YET FROM DRIVING YOUR EXPLODER???

SILLY RABBIT. STICK TO SUCKING COCK LIKE YOUR DAD AND LEAVE THE ADULTS ALONE.

  • @arivera3426 the reason why so many could be turned into for cash 4 clunkers is becuase ford sold so dam many of them to begin with ..you might not know this.but the explorer for how many years was americans best selling suv..they made billions of them..and millions got crushed/./yet you still see tons of them on the roads and do you know a few years ago volvo was cought rigging some of its vehicles to crash tests

  • @lonespartan31289 hahahahahahahahahahahahaha lol

  • @sp00nix ?

  • they ran sthe speed faster with the explorer to make the valvo look safer

  • When the glass doesn't shatter, even on the second try, you know you are in a safe vehicle. Volvo did a really good job making the XC90!

  • so 1995 vs 2003... i rest my case

  • Of course the Explorer did bad! The american makes car that rolls over easiealy, and make bad design, while europeans make cars that doesent roll over, with good crumpling design ;O)

  • @KillanatorVids You do know that Ford Motor Company owned the Volvo Company in 2004..... And a lot can happen with safety in a 4 year span. Just saying.

  • You guys know that ford owned Volvo in 2004 right? Both cars were made by the same company! And why is a 2004 vehicle being compared to a 2000?

  • You guys know ford owned Volvo in 2004 right? Both cars were made by the same company!

  • I love how the roof of the Volvo just buffs right out after it hit the ground, lol !

  • why was the speed not the same (fast as the explorers) if i mist somthin sorry

  • bekloppter Test, die sollen die echten Autos sich echt überschlagen lassen auf echtem Asphalt

  • ford explorer=death

  • They should pick on something their own age and size!

  • Protip: Don't be a dumbass and don't do barrel rolls.

  • is it that hard to make a safe car ford

  • good thing ford owns some of volvo

  • ford is cheaper

  • @1968ROOSTER actually just because the ford is at a cheaper price has nothing to do with its roll over crash test. this test wasn't even fair, a 2000 against a 2004? a lot of time and more safety rules have went in to effect. and if im not mistaken, the Volvo had a roll-cage.

  • damn,i wouldnt want to be in that ford...

  • American cars FTW!

  • is it me or did the door of the ford open

  • Now Volvo is owned by the Chinese. I will be interesting to see if Volvo's safety will take a nosedive.

  • right all of you heads up and listen ford modified the explorer roof so much they weakened it hence the spate of deaths , it took volvos expertise to get the roof right again so all of you and ford listen to the worlds most foremost experts on automotive safety VOLVO , NO EXCUSES.OR BACKCHAT . !

  • Come on the age diff get the 2006 explorer to make it fair. But any way explorer is the best

  • Getting more pussy in a ford is irrelevant to this video

This video comparison isnt 100% percent acurate. I mean I do understand what this video is demonstrating. The structural integrity of the XC90's roof compared to other SUVs. Okay, but the early model explorers are known for roll overs and having other weaknesses structuraly. This would be more fair if they chose an 04 Explorer. Like I said this explorer was chosen just as an example to show how other SUVs in general react in rollovers.

  • get more pussy in a ford.

  • volvo is and allways will be the safest car ....in the wold!

  • i though Mercedes were :)

  • @coolgames14 Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, BMW, and Volkswagen make the world's most safest cars.

  • @LoveTheCity123 im not sure about the beemer, it doesnt look safe

  • @coolgames14 All new BMW's are very safe.

  • Nothing against Volvo but that is a newer car VS. an older one... and the speeds were way off the fastest the volvo went was 3.0 MPH... the Explorer was doing 12....... Flawed Video..

  • @breakthenall89 got that right im going to buy a xc90 so when i have kids. =)

  • @breakthenall89 not now, take a look at the ford explorer 2011 the safest car in the world...

  • @jaffacake1578 hahaha lol

  • @TheThekickercomp what do you mean lol? crash tests speak for themselves...

  • @breakthenall89 I disagree, I would rather be in a mercedes

  • @breakthenall89 please provide a proof that volvo is the safest car.

  • Have you driven a Ford lately?

  • Hold on a second this is comparing Ford to the pre the sale of Volvo to Ford. Why is that important? Simple since Ford bought Volvo their safety has improved by a lot in some areas the Ford 500 was the first example based on the S80. It was a top pick by the IIHS in both frontal and side impacts w/sab.

  • that has nothing to do with it, its not a comparison of car makers. its to show the difference in roof strength. and the whole selling of volvo to ford thing doesnt have anything to do with.... well anything.

this was an example of weak roof to strong roof. nothing more. they are comparable cars to each other in almost every way. cost, size, weight.

  • Of course it has something to do with it after Ford bought volovo any car line that shares a volvo platform for ford has gotten safer, which was my point.

  • ok, but thats not the point of the video comparison. it was to show different roof strengths on similar vehicles. the XC90 is used for this because it has the strongest roof, and sadly the explorer has one of the weakest.

but i understand what your saying.

  • Yeah i know but then again this is kind of an unfair comparsion considering the 1995-2001 Explorer was first designed way back in 1993. That would be like comparing a second generation Taurus to the new taurus in a roll over.

  • i dont see how its unfair. weakest vs strongest. thats all it is.

the video is in no way a Volvo advertisement, they (CFIR or Xprts LLC ) dont get money from any maker to "display" a better product.

i think we should look at it as " see how safety technology/ car design has changed "

not ford vs volvo ( as a car maker )

but in the end, you cant say the explorer should have crushed like that.

too bad the xc90 wasnt out till 2003. maybe they will test a 02-05 explorer, then post it up.

  • I do they are comparing a a much older design. to something that is a lot newer. I think comparing a 02-05 explorer would be a lot more compareable.

  • you own an explorer dont you

  • Nope.

  • @SteelCity1981

Yes not only a much older car but intrusion speed 3mph for volvo and 12.1 for ford wtf?? compare something of the same category.

  • @SteelCity1981 While you are right that is a flaw in the comparison, look at a 1960's Volvo dropped on its roof, and its still better than the ford. Also look at any Ford/GM/Chrysler and you'll find they're designed to pass government and common known safety tests, and not actually designed for safety. 5 stars means nothing. 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Chevy Tahoe do just as bad with the JRS test.

  • @varrien allso keep in mind that the roll over was done at 3mph for volvo and 12.1 for ford. doesn't seem fair not only in age but in speed of which the roll over took place.

  • @SteelCity1981 I'll correct you here. the 3 mph "intrusion speed" is how fast the roof collapsed to the dynamic intrusion amount (1.5 inches for the Volvo.) The test is done at the EXACT same speed. The ford just caved in with a lot more force, in addition to caving in much much further.

  • @varrien The intrusion speed at which it failed was 12.1 mph and the dynamtic intrusion was 1.5 for the explorer. The intrusion speed of the volvo was 2.3mph with a dynamtic intrrusion of 1.5.

  • @SteelCity1981 The cars are only 2 years apart...

  • @BrunostNOR Not they aren't. The 2000 Explorer which is based on the 1995 second gen model was first being designed way back in 1993 to replace the First gen 1990-1994 Explorer.

  • @SteelCity1981 Wouldnt matter.... Volvo is 10 years ahead of american Ford in terms of car engineering.

  • @derbigpr500 10 years? Hardly look at the Ford fusion best car in its class motor trend car of the year for 2010 outperforming the Toyota Camry in reliability and resale value. Not to mention ford has the best built trucks on the planet. 30 years of top sales out of all the car companies sold in the U.S. one of the most reliable trucks on the market and now the safest earning top safety pick.

  • @SteelCity1981 I dont care about ratings given by incompetent journalists. American Ford's are rubbish....they drive like shit, look like shit, built from shit materials and are therefore shitty cars. Comparing a Ford to Volvo is like comparing a wooden boat to a titanic. One is a cheap brand that builds budget cars, other is a premium brand that builds premium luxury cars. Anyone who even thinks of a ford being better than volvo in ANYTHING is a fool.

  • @derbigpr500 So you don't care what professionals say. yet you makes these wild assumptions about ford cars. When was the last time you drove a ford car? Where was volov on the top 10 best selling cars in america? Ford had 3. where was volvo in the most reliable brands last year? Ford came in number 2 behind Lexus with its Fusion model. Cheap brand so the Lincolin MKs is cheap? Yet it compete with the likes of Lexus BMW and Benz as top luxury car in its class. where was volvo on that list?

  • @SteelCity1981 Furthermore volvo's don't sell if they did they wouldn't have been sold 2 times over already. Ford lost money when they bought volvo and now volvo is owned by Geely a car company China. lol And yes ford now tops the list safest cars in the world earning one of the most awards for safety with the IIHS with their line of cars and trucks. Furthermore volvo can't even touch ford when it comes to high performance cars. go show me a volvo that can't compete with a Mustang Cobra.

  • @SteelCity1981 Ford Fusion best car in its class? Well that says a lot about the level of expertise of motor trend.... yes, it might be the best car in its class, if you exclude the BMW 3, Mercedes C class, Audi A4, Volvo S60, Lexus IS, Acura TSX, etc. Its an ugly car, it drives like crap, it has old-tech engines and suspension, its nowhere near as comfortable, refined of well built as any of european competitors (european Fords had better interiors 10 years ago)...its a cheap, budget car.

  • @derbigpr500 Yeah Volvos' aren't ugly with their unproportion shape? I don't see any Volvo's making the top 10 best selling list. Old tech? LOL so the 3.0l duratech inline 3 valve is old huh. So the 6 speed automatic is old, yet Toyota Camry and GM Malibu and Honda Accord still use 5 speed automatics while the Fusion all come with 6 speed automatics. You truly have no idea what you are talking about. so are you saying the Dash's in the new Taurus Fusion Focus are worse then 10 years ago? LOL

  • @SteelCity1981 comparing? These are vehicles that are driven EVERYDAY and this goes to show you that the Explorer itself is a death trap. This test isn't about comparing, it's about how these vehicles perform in a rollover.

  • @the454engine2009 Um yes comparing what do you think they matched these two SUV's up to compare roof strength. So it's not comparing yet they could have picked any other model of suv or suvs to to do this and yet it's not comparing. come on... Death trap when was the last time to rode in one 1999? Since 2002 the Explorer has gotten good ratings in crash test both frontal and side and even. the 2011 explorer has gotten top safety pick by the IIHS.

  • @SteelCity1981 yeah, but you know that even the newest Expedition has horrible roof structure? I don't think the 2002 Explorer would stand a chance

  • @stonee206 not true it got an acceptable rating according to the iihs.

  • @SteelCity1981 yeah and they compared it and the Volvo won. Simple.

  • @the454engine2009 yeah to a old exlporer that was redesigned back in the earl 90's yeah that's fair go show me the same thing to a volvo that was designed around that time and see how fair its roof performs.

  • @SteelCity1981 Idiot!!! People still DRIVE these things around and this is NOT a competition- get that through your fucking mind!!! They are showing the effects of an Explorer when it rolls over and the same with the Volvo! They are proving that the old Ford Explorer is Unsafe!! So they are comparing a Ford Explorer with a Volvo XC90 and they proved that the Volvo XC90 won and the Ford Explorer Lost!! That fucking simple!!

  • @the454engine2009 I diot? Your'e right about one thing lol. What the fuck does that have to do with comparing safety to a mordenr car vs an older car of course moron the new car built a decade later is going to be much safer. What don't you understand about that. Waht's next are you going to compare an 78 bettle to a 2008 bettle just because people stil ldrive them around? LOL No shit of course it's going to win because it's a DECADE NEWER! and safety has come a long way since the early 90's!

  • @SteelCity1981 You're grammer is horrible.

  • @the454engine2009 talk about my grammar yet youre grammar isn't spot on by any means. Lets not be hypocrictal.

  • @SteelCity1981 Mine is still better than yours, lol.

    u mad bro?

  • @the454engine2009 nope and not that i really care.

  • @SteelCity1981 Oh and just because it's newer, doesn't mean it is safer. The new Chevy Tahoe for instance, is obviously new but has a very week roof and this 2003 Volvo XC90 is still stronger!

  • @the454engine2009 the new Chevy Tahoe is based on the modfied GMT800/900 platform. that was deisgned back in the mid 90's. but that doesn't negate the fact that structural changes in a decde hasn't improved by a lot.

  • @SteelCity1981 It is still brand spankin' new!

  • @the454engine2009 brans spanking ne would be considerd a total new structure. Now if you want to say it wasn an updates structure then yes you are correct but it's not a brand spanking new structure. the GMT900 shares many of its parts with the GMT800 hence an update.

  • i own a ford explorer and have a 5yr old in the car weekends while not at work, worrying. always known here in the uk how tough volvo roofs are, probably the strongest out there, they used to do adverts in the 80s of volvos with 5 cars stacked on the roof. very strong.

  • wut?

  • Did anyone noticed intrusion speed difference between these two cars???

  • It looks to me like the Ford is lower on the spinner. The volvo is raised higher? Are we saying here that the roof of the volvo won't crush in if it actually had touched the platform???

  • the pillars of the volvo are made from boron steel 4 times stronger than regular steel..

  • GO VOLVO<33best in safety

  • wow. ur fucked up in the ford. I liked these but damn! idk if I would get one now. I guess the old sayin was right,

    Found

    On

    Road

    Dead

  • the ford was already fucked up anyway!
