  • The oldest coin I have is a 1793 cent. The most valuable is which I happen to have two of is the 1909-S VDB, one in MS-64 and the other F-12 (Fine-12). The MS-64 is worth $1,500 now if I sell it. The other is $550.

  • what a proof?

  • @schneibgamer1 A proof is basically a very high quality version of a circulated coin, except that they are minted for collectors and not for circulation. They tend to look "frosted" and "mirror-like." Proofs today are made at the San Francisco mint, while earlier proofs were made at the Philadelphia mint.

I collect only silver coins those have value in silver .....in rest......:-?? beats me

  • If you have no appreciation for things of the past, you will not understand numismatics. If you have no appreciation because you lack knowlege of the history of money, there are countless books on the subject that can help shed some light on the subject for you. If you still do not understand, you're just not destined to be a numismatist. That's okay though, because there are plenty of other people who are avid collectors and appreciate the history enough to keep the hobby alive.

  • Hey fartheraway 420

I thought the law of supply and demand stated that when the DEMAND overwhelmed supply stuff went up.. Maybe I was wrong :O(

  • Except when they make too many of them, such as they did with the state quarters. It is rare to find a normal quarter now a days.

  • the state quarters in circulation will never be worth more than a quarter :-) Same with the sacagawea, susan b. anthony and presidential dollars. The silver state quarters are worth something of course :-) Nice denver o 69 proof.

  • I work at a gas station. I found a Wisconsin, Proof! I believe it was. It had a mirror finish and was mint marked "S"

  • Yup, I have probably found about 2 dozen proofs since working at my gas station, including 3 different state quarters.

  • Mine has very very mild oxidation on the obverse. The Red Book says it's worth $5. So I can only assume I would get about 2.50-3.00 for it. But hey, I only paid a quarter for it.

  • what is in that quarter wapper?

  • i got about 150 CANADIAN silver quarters, my oldest coin is around 1727 :)

  • oh i have a question can anyone tell me?i have seom state quarters ohio.someone told me the letter on it ''p'' was a mis print? and is out of print and rare? i have both of them.are they worth anything or out of print with that letter p on them?

  • The P is the mint mark indicating it was created (minted) in Philadelphia.

  • i have a question. what does it mean if a coin is being circulated? plus what is a proof coin?

  • Proof coins have a frost like look to them produced only for collectors. Circulated means that it is being spent so you will find it amongst your change.

  • Mostly in change at my work. However I will be selling off my entire collection soon as I would like to get into snake breeding with high end morphs. So I will need money to make money. It sucks to get rid of it, but I would like to work from home eventually and what better way than to be a professional snake breeder. It will take several years to get to that point but well worth it once I do.

  • I need to try the silver vs clad sound check. It can maybe help as a clue to identify fakes. In Hong Kong they hock fake old U.S. coinage on every corner. Some sre so ridiculously bad. i.e. Lady Liberty is raised 3mm off the coin

  • my oldest quarters are a 1908 o quarter and a 1936 d quarter.

  • what kind of coins you have?olds?which countries?

  • Watch all 5 parts of my collection. Parts 6-8 will be released in 2008.

  • The silver coins are sweet, tho. You _very_ rarely find those in pocket change. I have a roll of brilliant uncirculated "Mercury dimes" myself.

  • State quarters are so common that it makes no sense to collect them.

  • Awesome! I'll be uploading my Part 2 soon.

  • sweet coins, can i borrow a few for a pepsi?lol Great collection

  • If I had the money I would start collecting coins again. I have a nice but small collection in a safe. My prized possessions are my tiny little gold coins (dime size) that at the time cost me a whole pay check lol. It was a fun hobby. It can get expensive though depending on what you like and are willing to go after.

  • FINALLY!!!

    Thanks for posting this.

  • I once had an Isabella quarter, the only commemorative quarter design ever issued other than the state quarters and the bicentennial quarters.

  • nice barber quarter, cant w8 for the doller vid man!
