  • What a waste of money, $58,000?? For what? Shitty looking video? I can make better videos with my T3I that costs under $1,000.

  • @LuckyBambooExpert im sure that same footage looks real good when blown up 50 ft on a movie theater screen

  • @LuckyBambooExpert no, no you can't

  • @LuckyBambooExpert youtube compresses video files when you upload them, so the RED EPIC will look like any other videos here on youtube. But when seen on vimeo in HD, You'll wish you had that sexy camera;)

  • @CaptivateProduction Everybody tells me that, why does YouTube have such crappy video quality?

  • @LuckyBambooExpert i really dont know why youtube has to compress, but if you want better quality you should check out vimeo (dot) com

  • @LuckyBambooExpert no, trust me buddy you can't. You probably have a shitty computer that can't handle the quality of this camera. DSLR's are toys compared to this.

  • The camera doesn't look very good on youtube.

  • did he talk too fast?

  • Super 8!

  • i would do horrible things for that camera

  • @TheParodyPirate like watch twillight?

  • @TheParodyPirate I would be the 1st to buy a porn shot on EPIC! You''ll never know someone might just do that. 5K porn! 300" screen.

  • @formaset

Just visualized that and that would be a strange use for a epic

  • @TheParodyPirate That will sell as much as a Hollywood hit movie and you know it.

  • @TheParodyPirate you and me both

  • rent it from hdgear.tv

  • do you call horse races?

  • i am from the far away country, but i am interested in each episode of serial

  • Film Riot should be friend's with RED so they can do a RED EPIC give away.

  • @KLRIHA As awesome as that would be, there is no way that would happen.

  • If i had that sweet piece of tail, it wouldn't be going in a mile of water :/

  • your captions are terrible.

  • your captions suck.

  • your captions suck.

  • Too bad Youtube can do only 30p maximum. I have a 50p cam and when I try to upload something to Youtube, it gets converted to 30p, which looks very bad with a lot of motion judder.

But wow, 5K video? What beast of a PC do you need to preview effects and transitions in real time at that high res? I'm already having trouble with simple 1080-50p on my 4x2.5GHz quadcore + GTX560. Time to get a better CPU I guess... unfortunately there are no 8x10GHz octacores out there yet.

  • @bla287 not sure on exact specs but I was on a film set and I was their "mobile" editing pc, was approx 5ft high and basically looks like a safe on wheels. think it cost like $200,000 just for the unit. if you're editing is slow, try upgrade you hdd and RAM. you need something like 3-4gb per core for optimum performance if i remember correctly.

  • @jimmyhoffa9 Woah, 200K for a PC? That's crazy shit.... My editing generally is OK but as soon as I use a simple cross fade I can't preview it in real time. Guess my CPU is the next thing I'll upgrade, I can't afford an octacore, I guess I'll get the AMD Phenom II X6 1100T, which is rated at 6x3.3 GHz but I have decent water cooling (current CPU's temp never goes much above 50°C at full load) so I might overclock it to 4.5 or so. HDD is OK I guess (3 TB total) and RAM too (8 GB)

  • @bla287 nah buddy you need waay more ram than 8gb. high data editing(music or movies) needs around 12gb(av speed) ram. upgrading the cpu wont do much to editing performance, or gaming for that matter too. just my .02

  • @jimmyhoffa9 Really? None of the software I use takes much more than 2 GB RAM, exception: I got GIMPx64 to use over 4 gigs of RAM once when editing a very huge image (10000x10000 pixels, or 100 mega pixels). Problem is that I'm still using a 32bit video editing software so there's no possibility of going over 2GB RAM at once anyway. I've seen only few 64bit programs for that and they're all in the 4-digit price range (a.k.a. too expensive for me).

  • TALK SLOWER!

  • Hate when guys talk like this.

  • Hey Ryan, can I steal your job?

  • sweet camera i have a show as 1st AC with this camera for the first time tomorrow for a few days and im PUMPED!! Thanks for the video!

  • Within 30seconds of this video i subscribed.

  • sry but the fps video comparison doesnt make a lot of sense or does it ?

the youtube video has has a constant rate of fps.. so obviously you cant see the difference !?!

  • 7:35 awesome impact face :) lol

  • awesome

  • If you watch the new Porduction video 4 for THE HOBBIT then you can see them talking about the RED EPIC

  • Why would a big budget film use a digital camera? Film is much higher quality.

  • @ThoseFilmGuys you can adjust settings on a digital camera to look like film.

  • @ThoseFilmGuys The reason they are using digital is because this will allow much easier color correction as well as dodging the need to convert the film files to digital in order to edit which can be costly especially if they didn't like how the color came out.

  • STOP TALKING SO FAST

  • 7:36 watched over and over again :)) =))

  • So just was at the RED camera forum and there are so many ppl there that say 1080p is not professional that only 4k is.. wtf!! So sick of these ppl bashing 1080p and thinking that RED is the only pro camera out there, granted I luv RED cameras as much as the next person but come on...

  • 60 frames per second is ugly in my opinion, I like it for call of duty but not in my videos. but 48 is rather pretty...

  • I thought pro's use the ARRI Alexa or film

  • @UFOJeroen the RED epic as I hear is kind of a new comer.

  • @hobocamptheater And also if people have invested in other cameras and equipment, it won't be easy for them to switch

  • @Conspiracy52 actually it apparently will. The EPIC and other cameras like it are pretty much exactly the same, and unlike prosumer cameras there aren't special features inside the camera

everything is the internal awesomeness like the sensor, the massive resolution, and the color space.

so cameras like this are not only really similar but using them is extremely easy... although tech support is reserved for pros only and is really important.

  • @hobocamptheater You're right. However 58,000+ might not be a very attractive price for them to pay especially if they need lenses and everything else. The total cost would probable be more than $100,000

  • @Conspiracy52 I'm saying this in a hypothetical statement where you have the money and the urge to switch, the process wouldn't be difficult physically or mentally, but you are right, in the real world spending a 10's of thousands of dollars on the alexa and it's gear then trying to switch to the RED is really gonna wreck your bank account.

  • @hobocamptheater Or of course you could sell your gear and camera.

  • @Conspiracy52 you'd still be down a couple thousand dollars, but that just comes with the territory of cinema cameras I guess.

  • @Conspiracy52 $58K is for the EPIC M package. The EPIC X is $25K for the brain. for the minimal setup he had there would be under $5K but you obviously want all the accessories for a shooting package. Hardly anyone buys expensive glass, you hire it when you need it, although you can get some nice rehoused glass or put some stills glass on there like Canon L-Series. A full shooting EPIC will be less than a basic Alexa. Considering you can own what the biggest budgets are using, its a bargain.

  • @culturebloc Yeah, especially when you get great image quality.

  • The RED EPIC costs $58,000!!!???

  • @Guitarpro2play Fuck! That's the price of an S-Class Mercedes!

  • @ayby17 What's with the car thing? Is that the only thing should cost more than a banana? There are cameras, lenses, paintings, diamonds, houses, celebrity used underware, wine (YES, $90,000.00 Romanee Conti WINE) and a huge number of other things that ALSO can cost more than a fucking Benz.

  • @formaset YOU DON'T SAY!?! Please! Chill the fuck out! It was just an example, get over it.

  • @ayby17 Yo, I'm just saying...I hear this comparison everywhere from everyone. The same car comparison thing. As much as this upsets you, it upsets me.

  • @formaset Aight, no problem then. I'm sorry.

  • @Guitarpro2play Only you don't know its price. Don't worry...Sometimes it goes on sale for $57,999.99

    LOL!

  • Ryan did you sleep with the RED epic, the way you cradle that at the end of the film.

  • Really Love what you said about our goal is not to make no budget filmmaking forever, keep up the good work guys, you're helping a lot of people

  • @blackbirdmediatv Most indie/amatuer filmmakers have dreamed of a day when they have the resources to shoot with pro equipment, and get paid. When you reach that level what pro equipment you decide to use is pretty much a matter of preference, since people are willing to throw ungodly amounts of cash at you to make them a profit. Now I guess the Red is responsible for inspiration to achieve as well as making all film projects shot with it instantly awesome.

  • thanks for the Subtitles!

  • Really love how they market te Epic Red. But indeed a very good, but expensive camera. Does anyone ever looked at the Panasonic AG-AF101E . Is there a way that you guys can get your hand on this camera to test?

  • 7:15 very nice man boobs!

  • that Bloody Epic is $ 59 000

  • wow that camera is cool

  • I got to use this bad boy last weekend. It's such an amazing camera, so much heavier than I expected considering the size. Our kit included some nice Zeiss CP.2s as well which are very nice lenses, I would love to own a set for my 7D. I was definitely felt like a kid in a toy store haha.

  • how i can convert 30 fps movie to 23.976 fps. I have adobe premiere pro cs3, i started project in 23.976 but in the final result, the video is slowing down and the audio is not sync. Anybody can help me ?

  • I LIke This Camera... I Like Slowmotion.. Mamaaaaa Pengeeeeenn..!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the penis song intermental by macklemore , fuck ya aha

  • Holy shit! HOLY SHIT! My advertisment at the beginning of my video had Ryan in it! HOLY SHIT! O_O

  • they should have a skype like thing that allows you to talk to people online well watcing movie like on netflix group watch but with 7 way video chat that would be awsome

  • Press 9 for JESUS

  • I want to procreate with it and make a family of a bunch of Epic babies

  • lol look at face at 7:37

  • Ryan reminds me of Dr. Satan. Say "all the sudsy powers of HEEEEELLLLLLL!" just once.

  • Why so expensive? over 50 grand for the body alone. you can buy a car, or a down payment on a house. i don't know if that is worth it. Even renting it for one day is over a thousand dollars and the red technician is 400 a day, im going stick with my canons for now. But the red is interesting...

  • Hello Ryan.Is it possible to talk just a little bit slower to your episodes ,because a lot of ppl watching you are from another countries and not everyone know english perfect..it will be awesome..just a little bit :D .. thanks.

  • If I'm ever supposed to get married, this'll be my wife. No. Doubt. At. All.

  • ha... i all i have is a sony handycam and a cybershot

  • VERY NICE !!!

  • Thumbs up if you disable sound when there are ads!

  • ahhhhhh my twitter comment about the 5d usage made it into this video :))))))) IM A MOVIE STAR

  • you guys are awesome

  • 6:48 slow motion.

thumbs up for everyone to see

  • Random Fact. Waka Flocka's Snakes In The Grass Was Shot With A Red Epic.

  • awesome episode as always. I have just one question and that is: where can i get the music you guy was using in this video? or did you guys make it yourself?

    you guys are awesome!

  • ¡¡¡Genial como siempre, saludos desde Uruguay!!!

  • Seriously, a touch screen? That's like the "Import from iMovie" feature on FCPX.

What do you prefer? ARRI or RED?

Personally I prefer ARRI. I also prefer film.

  • My only complaint about these Red Epics would be the fact you would have to buy the Red Mags which are proprietary and in my opinion proprietary anything is the consumers enemy it's the equivalent of how SONY makes cameras that can only take their own batteries and chargers so you have to buy it from them. so if you lose or break a Red Mag then you have to give what I'm sure is a lot of money for what is probably an overpriced replacment

  • The guy gets pushed in the pool and continuously sprayed in the face... and he doesn't even get a mention in the credits! What's the world coming to?!

  • Do u know any website dat could show us comparisons and price rates of All of the cameras and camcoder~?

  • In order to give the 48 fps footage a more natural motion, peter jackson sets the shutter to a 360 degree angle as opposed to the standard 180 degree shutter...

  • As always, every word is a word of wisdom from none other than Rei Guy.

  • In the new ken block gymkhana 4 video how is the panning done from one side of the car to the other????? Looks like a go pro or similar camera is used but the pan looks like it was done in software and presumably they don't have infinite camera across the car.

  • how to make a walk through wall effect?

  • rian, do me a favor and set the rendering quality to "best" when rendering your short film shot on the red epic

  • where was josh?

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but how can you show the difference between 24fps and 48fps if they're both conformed as real time in a 24fps video? The difference is motion blur? If you want less motion blur then why not increase the shutter speed? On most digital cameras the shutter speed is going to be double the frame rate unless you manually change it. Faster frame rate = faster shutter speed = less motion blur. I don't think motion blur is why you would choose 48fps over 24fps.

  • one more question, Is there anyway you can compare and contrast the red epic to a dslr camera?

  • @361DegreesShow dude thats not even a fair comparison. DSLR footage is heavily compressed in camera, red epic is RAW.

  • @361DegreesShow they just did XD

  • Ahh, the things people with backyard pools and DSLR cameras do..

  • @361DegreesShow the red epic is a $58,000 camera, whereas the canon 5d mkII (best dslr in taking video, for now) is just $2500. So, u tell me is there any comparison.

  • can u guys upload the raw footage from the red epic? instead of color grading the footage

  • Bruno is hot. HOT.

  • hey film riot crew, had a question about something random not related to the red epic but the canon eos cameras, would you use the MAGIC LANTERN firmware on your camera? I'm sure you've heard of it. I really don't want to try this firmware until someone I trust gives it a try. I don't want to screw up an almost $1000 camera, if you know what i mean. thanks

  • ya the ads are rly fukin annoying

  • o.o --- Sent From filmriot's AppRats (Facebook App)!

  • This is an EPIC episode... HARHARHARHAR

  • That slow motion was very impressive, although sadly, I don't think I'm likely to be able to afford a Red Epic to get the same kind of silky smooth quality.

I wasn't impressed with the 48fps though, even taking into account that Youtube doesn't show 48fps.

  • @filmriot how do you play 24 fps and 48 fps on one video? Isn't this youtube video stuck to one frame rate?

  • The super slow motion footage is impressive! This camera is SO powerful...

  • hey filmriot, how can you get the 'red epic'?

  • i think since bfx is over all of indy mogals viewers migrated here
