I found in my experiments that if u have a small oscar with a pair of large convicts. that when he gets bigger he wont be as aggresive. But there are those other exceptions.
@yeohwl91 everyone you ask will give you a different answer. Some oscars have to be kept alone due to their aggression levels, but others work well as a community fish. You basically just have to cross your fingers. Mine loves its tank mates, and even protects some of the smaller fish from my blood parrot (he's an asshole).
your angelfish are WAYYYY active then mine.they used to eat but they died like after 2 months ONLY!!!!!i was so sad i feel like crying.i always cry when my fish die
u should get a glass top even while he's small. while he appears to have a consistant jump... i bet you he can jump 10x higher than that if he gets panicked. One time my bichir jumped out of a shallow tupperware bowl i had him in and he landed in the fish tank I was trying to transport him in... he got SOOOO MUCH AIR!!! I thought the water impact alone would injure him but he's alive.
My oscar just did this and almost bit me! I was not expecting it. I have only had him for about 2 weeks. I am going to train him but not to jump. I don't need a dead fish on my floor. He will be a soccer player instead. I guess he is scared of the feeding wand, but not of my hand.
It is a bad habit and shouldn't be encouraged. I keep a weight on the lid of my tank so my O doesn't jump out, sometimes during the night something will startle him and he'll jump out of the water. If it wasn't for the weight he'd probably be dead by now.
@sam805236 Yep. It's a cool looking trick but then they learn to jump and you really have to keep the cover on tight if your oscar gets a taste for jumping...
I don't know just one day jumped for food and it stuck. I should warn you that its a bad habit and shouldn't be encourage as when bigger may end up on the floor
@BichirAddict I said I would not train my fish to do it.... and it was a bad idea. Really you just have to tease them and they wil. I was no quick enough to feed him today and the food stuck to my finger. He had to use his tail to knock himself back in the tank. His head was all the was over the edge flying toward me! And I have about 3 inches between the water and the top of the tank as a buffer.
(cry) pity that oscar waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..................you remind me of my dead clown knife fish and my other fish waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!(cry)
lol i got a tiger oscar and red oscar my tiger oscar jumps alot is there anyway to make them stop or is it a habit and my red oscar is 4 inches and tiger oscar is 3 inches but my tiger is lik 50 times more active and some times my red oscar jump but only an inch out of the water
watch out, i used to do that and my oscar jumped out and landed on the floor, i caught him on the rebound though....then he jumped out of my hands.....he sulked for an hour after that, i feel realy bad
dud you should sak somthink that commet on this you should not feed him then when hes really hugre he will have no choice but to jump for his food then he will learn that when he jumps he gets a trick or food
ive seen some comments on here saying you cant mix angelfish with oscars, uhhh, they are both part of the cichlid family!! fuckin idiots go and whine about too small tanks and wrong compatiblity and your video shows that you can put them together
ForumBoosters why should you mix the fish together if all the fish I have in that tank have grown out and split into 2 tanks and I didn't have any diease in that tank with all those fish in it. The tank ran like that for 3 years no problems. So shutup and leave me alone.
my oscar is so un aggressive. it is just his personality. what kind of groumi is that, if it is not a giant gourami how did you get it to be so big. i found out that the more oscars in a tank the more aggresive it gets. my tank is ran by a cray fish. he is 1.5 inches long and the oscar is 3 or 4 inches long, and my iredescent shark avoids every one
1 oscar is very un aggressive. 2 oscars are super aggressive, 3 oscars are aggressive, 4 oscars are kinda aggressive, 5 oscars are not very aggresssive, and 6+ are not aggressive.
im not shuting you down pal,but both my oscars do that every time i feed them, sometimes they jump half way out of the water with a good run-and-go lol
