Let's get rid of the Department of Education for a start. Our education has been on a decline since it was brought into being. i have a daughter that is a social studies teacher and agrees that the union is also a problem. they keep teachers that should not be in a classroom. As he said ( on your merits).
Thank you Mr. Dreyfuss. Thank you so much. As a teacher, a mother, and an active participant in my community, you have offered reasoned, intelligent, and eloquent thoughts on the issues facing educators and education today.
When I was a Language Arts and World History teacher in a Title I school in Calif., I was told by my principal to not worry about teaching World History...just focus on Reading and Writing (not grammar). In many schools across the nation, art, music, history, civics, PE, etc., are not offered, and we need to put a stop to this dumbing down of our students. This is why I am attending the Save Our Schools March in DC in July. saveourschoolsmarch (dot) org
My name is Jesse Turner, and I walked 400 miles in 40 days last year protesting this notion of education that dismantles critical thinking, because it does not fit within the bubbles of any standardized test. I will be at the Save Our School March and Rally in DC this July 28-31. I am marching because Civics matter, art matters, music matter, science matters, and teachers matter, but most of all because America's children are more than test scores.
