I just read in a book about the intelligence of birds, and snowball was mentioned in that ornthologists believe him to be the first non-human animal thats conclusively demonstrated to be capable of beat induction. Scientist from harvard university studied snowball, and he was found to be able to keep perfect time to the music even after it was sped up and slowed down, without a partner

The scientists who studied Snowball's ability to speed up and slow down to the tempi of music were led by a team of scientists at the Neurosciences Institute in San Diego. I know because I collaborated on that study. Scientists from Harvard never came here to study him. Harvard scientists studied You Tube videos of various birds (Snowball's video was among them) and other animals.

@xxgoldieloxroxxx No, he doesn't stop dancing when I stop. He was never 'taught' to dance. Parrots (especially cockatoos) love to dance (bob, sway, hop). A couple of scientists who have come here have also witnessed how he dances without anyone else dancing with him and how he has the ability to speed up and slow down according to the tempo of the music.

@trailerparklifez Birds have a strong flock instinct, and as a result have separation anxiety. They will call out to their family until reunited. As is the case with my umbrella cockatoo, he views me as his mate, and if we are separated he will cry and cry until we're back together. It may not be as noticeable in smaller birds, but they do have intense emotions and build important relationships with their owner and family.

I don't want to be a hater or anything but the dancing in this clip is sort of disastrous compared to some other Snowball videos. Your parrot is totally off beat for long stretches of time. And seeing you dancing with him makes it seem like he's just imitating you (parroting, as it were), rather than dancing on his own, which makes me think that you're doing the same thing off camera in the other clips.

I guess that kind of imitation is sort of impressive, but it's just not nearly as cool.
