  • I remember this so much

  • great memories. christmas was great in the 80s good films and programmes all felt festive, unlike todays christmas tv which is cynical rubbish crap films and awful comedies and the idents are boring now too!

  • Christmas wasn't Christmas without a bit of Noel and me sat on the sofa aged 12 stifling tears and pretending not to cry when I was full to overflowing with all the reunions and good deeds delivered by Mr Edmonds! It makes me miss my Grandma because this was the time when we all trooped down to her house in Kent every year and she made our Christmases AMAZING (in between watching the BBC all day long).

  • back in the days when tv was worth watching..!!

  • Back To The Future was the biggest film of 1985...suprised they put this as a daytime film..would have put money on it being the main feature film of the night.

  • @stuabingdon It came number 1 in the top ten films of 1985

  • I remember watching Back to the future on BBC1 on xmas day (aged 12) the first time it was on - wow this brings back memories!

  • Listen from 0:26. TV presenters spoke English back then! I cannot understand most of them today.

  • Classic stuff. Fight the dumbing down of Christmas... save our traditional Christmas.

  • Yea man...

Do you hear how ENGLISH the presenter is for Back to the Future?

God save the Queen (Hand on heart)

  • @BNPCrusade Sieg heil.

  • I'd just turned 7 on this day and also as someone said earlier noticed how itv messed up the order of the star wars trilogy.

  • This was my first Christmas!

  • @thelostlibertine

    i was 19, so young, i had hair....lol

  • aint we all getting old !!!!!!!!! lol

  • Those were the days

  • Noel barely concealing his agitation at the baby crying offscreen.

  • Nooooooo.... what was the moment he was bringing us???

  • I daren't go back and look

  • hahahaha... best not to i find....

  • Wow...if I remember correctly, ITV premiered The Empire Strikes Back at the same time as BBC showed Back to the Future. It caused a real dilemma.

  • You are correct sir! ITV famously effed up the order of the Star Wars trilogy as 'Return of the Jedi was 1987's Christmas movie.

  • I remember being annoyed because I had to visit relatives, and they didn't want to watch either. :(

  • so true, a q.memorable 80s VHS-recording dilemma! I think Mary Poppins was on the day before, and I recorded Empire Strikes Back...and also had to annoyingly go someone's house for 'party'...where I watched Back to the Future..until he kissed Lorraine, which was wrong.

  • What a shocker Cliff Richard and Christmas

  • This was shown at 11am on Christmas Day on BBC 1

  • Noel's dress sense hasn't improved, only now he's taken to wearing bad shirts!

  • The end of Hark the Herald angels sing

  • I love 80s and 90s terrestrial TV film trailers - these premiere screening were among the highlights of the day! I may just go watch a few BBC1 and ITV premieres again this crimbo for once!!

  • Ah ha so Noel used that theme for this as well as Christmas Presents in the 90s. How 80s is that jumper!
