It takes more than 7 days for an automatic caption to be displayed.

I have heard that even a 'paid US Government' Google Account endures long delays.

It is difficult to sell these great efforts to my bosses, when both free and paid accounts are slow displaying SRT text for the videos. If mp3 (or audio-only) files are preferred (and faster to transcribe), I wish you could provide that as well. I work for NOAA's National Weather Service.

The automatic timing thing is quite cool. I like how you can still type the words but you don't need to sync them. Syncing would be a real nightmare. I'll have to give the speech to text thing a shot on one of my videos too.

the captions didnt work out very well, the captions either arrive too early or too late, or they just disappear before the speech is over. The timing is just not right and its a mess to change the time code.

Unfortunately with the video narrator's comment about the not great results being "still better than nothing", Google demonstrates the misguided, poor attitude toward those with hearing loss that is pervasive in our society. When someone who's channel you are subscribed to uploads a new video it shows on my You Tube home page. It use to be the case that once I viewed the new video they uploaded . It would go away automatically. For some reason now even after I have viewed it , It still stays there. They do. It's on TestTube, at the bottom of any YouTube page.

/facepalm. That IS your own caption. The own caption thing is "Automatic Timing." You make a .txt file of the dialogue and then Google will put it together so the captions will go to when the characters speak. durrhurr
