ski doo's have electric engine reverse so it accually reverses the motor because 2 stroke have very little to no timing difference in reverse or forward and will run in reverse so my guess would be a timing issue causing the engine to reverse itself under heavy load such as landing a jump

yep since its a 550 its got electric reverse, meaning it shuts the engine off and runs it backwards. no reverse gear in the chaincase. most likely just some moister in the reverse button as others have said

All the brands have problems and most of the time it is due to the riders. Back in the late 90s into 2000s Artic Cat made some real trash that a lot of us still remember. Ski-doo has always set the bench mark for others to follow. There was a time in Oval racing that Artic Cat , Polaris , and Yamaha all used Rotax 440s because of the exhaust valve design. This is fact do your home work.

I have ridden Ski-Doo snowmobiles my entire life and have never had any problems other than belts and hyfax.
