Acetone, placing my thumb and finger tips inside as this was a dark brown color I had on, hard to move in the best of times. The acetone almost got me in the eye and mouth. The heat that's trapped in between the cotton ball and foil helps the glitter to remove faster! Just like how we foil our hair to get highlights-we use foil which produces heat which causes the hair to strip faster!! It's not to hold the cotton ball on the nail! Cool idea! You can also put a coat of a regular polish on top of the glitter polish you're trying to take off, and once it's tacky rub it off with a cotton ball that is damp with polish remover. It only takes like one swipe! either way, the more options, the better, right? :)

this is me being a chemistry freak: nail polish is made of acetone and water. acetone is a dissolver. thats why this works. because the acetone is remaining on the nail longer without evaporating any bit, this technique works:)
@lufilafa OR... it's a often used method for soaking off certain gel polishes. I never thought to use it for glitter though, it's a handy little trick.

100% Acetone will work a lot better for removing glitter polishes. I use 100% Acetone with a cotton pad and it comes off with a few swipes.

Simple solution:
Use a clear coat beforehand.
It'll prevent the nail polish you use from staining your nails, and will help Nail polish come off better.

Wow people are mean. Anyways, I love this idea! I just had a fight with my favorite glitter polish the other day and it won. It was so hard to get off that I had to have my boyfriend help me get it off bc my hands were so tired. I swore I'd never wear it again but now I will!! THANK YOU!

this is me being a chemistry freak: nail polish is made of acetone and water. acetone is a dissolver. thats why this works. because the acetone is remaining on the nail longer without evaporating any bit, this technique works:)

@lufilafa OR... it's a often used method for soaking off certain gel polishes. I never thought to use it for glitter though, it's a handy little trick.

You should shower before hand. It will soften up the polish making it easier to come off
