  • What a babe!

  • fuck this i wish i was alive in the 60s todays shit is a joke

  • Another winner, Sir Basil! Great production and superb singing by Miss Maughan. And the drummer....well, he (or she) sure earned their paycheque that day!

  • @rskissack Agreed, it's a toe-tapper!

  • Great production and version...kind of miss the high note Diane Renay hits at the fade of the original, but Susan's vocal is a lot stronger...thanks for this surprise to me

  • @thecountofbasie Pleased to help out.

  • I can recommend the "sounds of the sixties" programme on radio2 presented by Brian Matthew on Sat mornings 8-10am. Lots of "B" sides & minor hits that maybe failed to get into the top 30 but are still good to listen to.

  • @klassicracer Thanks for reminding, I keep meaning to listen to that.

  • WOW. love the drivin 60's beat and sound

  • I guess Bobby's Girl was Susan's biggest hit in the uk and as a result gets played fairly often but this one, like most of her other recordings is just as catchy and surely deserves more playtime on the radio stations catering for '60,s fans like us.

  • @klassicracer Too true, oldies stations never play anything out of the ordinary. Have to find it on YouTube.

  • I've never heard this version before. I think it's great, I suppose because it's quite faithful to the original, which I love.

  • I love this music. They just don't make this kind anymore. Makes me want to just get up and dance my worries away.

  • I just love this wonderful music. They just don't make this kind of music anymore. Makes you just want to get up and dance your cares away.

  • The production on this version has a little more drive, and better horns. Never heard of Susan Maughan before, but I'll be looking for more of hers. THANKS for posting.

  • @MarkinDC. She did some good ones, Bobby's Girl being her big hit.

  • makes me wanna get a boat..she raises my anchor!!!!!!!!!

  • @tonyhgv Ships ahoy!

  • "Anchors away once more" !

I'd drop anchor at Port Susan.

  • me too!

  • Very nice, and speaking for all the other sailors, I'm next!

  • I must say I love this more that Diane's version.....=) Thank you Sir for posting one of my very favourites....!!

    Marika

  • Me too, it's got a bit more pace.

  • This is my absolute favourite single from Susan. Not only for her punchy delivery, spot on tuning and perfect diction, but the overall arrangement is terrific. The drummer certainly earnt his money on this one - an essential ingredient in this particular number. A perfect pop single from the 60's.

  • Thanks for the interesting comment.

  • Ring-a-ding-ding!

  • She certainly makes my timbers shiver!

  • V Fine to hear.

  • Susan Maughan-be still me heart. Sure,I know she's older now,but so am I!

  • Hi Basil.

Susan made many great covers of american songs, sometimes better than the originals in my oppinion.

    This one's really great!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Agreed, it's not a bad effort.
