@munroeguy depends on where and the size of the needle. the smaller the needle, the more painful the tattoo. a rule of thumb to compare the pain to other parts of your body is to grab a lot of ice after a warm shower and place it on the area where you want your tattoo.. the colder the sensation, the more painful that area will be. this is an example of your nerve endings (pain receptors) reacting.

@munroeguy i got a half sleeve done on my right bicep. it didn't hurt as bad as i thought it would intill the artist got closer to the inner part of my arm.  eventually after the third hour my arm went numb and i couldn't feel anything. FIve hour later it was finish, it felt like a really bad Indian sunburn.
