@diRECTOR259 Nahhhh, the Germans never did anything to the US. Trying to incite the Mexicans into an attack on the US isn't anything important. I mean, with the Lusitania, AT LEAST THEY WARNED US. So now taking American lives is fine as long as Germany told us that a certain part of the ocean is under their control. How dare the US not let other nations push us around!
@SkinkProductions Yes and of course the German's were wrong to do things like that to a completely "neutral" nation right. It's not like American weapon makers were sending over guns, ammunition, and supplies to England on passenger ships with the all but the top 3 decks containing weaponry, nor did they cut of trade with Germany to stay neutral and just deal with England and get payed extra for the lost profits... Ya the US did not have this coming to them at all. (sarcasm, in case you're dumb)
Every time I imagine WWI battles, I imagine "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" playing on a gramophone and then the charge whistle blowing. We run out of the trench at the Germans and guys are going down aound me. But, we make it to the trench and take prisoners. In the aftermath, I'm told that my army buddy was killed. That's how I imagine WWI. A total bloodbath.
The American public was manipulated into WWI. The Lusitania was an arms-laden vessel deliberately sent into waters the Germans were blockading (just like the British were blockading Germany and threatened to sink any neutral vessel trying to break the blockade). All the while with the German embassy publishing warnings that this was the case.. I'm not German, but Germany never did anything to the US.
@dIRECTOR259 And of course, we can't simply listen to some good old American propoganda without someone starting the history arguments. Really, man? It's just a song. Jeez.
You want peace you have to fight for it just like when my parents and the many men, women and children everywhere who come from poverty had (or still curently) fought/fighting to overcome it. So im sorry i dont share your vision of lack of hope but i can tell you were born well off just by a comment like that. Its the patriotism or the belief in a something such as a god that aids us in our fight agaist any struggle, and this comment goes to anyone who dare challenges another persons beliefs
well thats society for you overwheight and parinoid. All you want is the dream of peace in youre sleep, but when you wake up you realise that no 2 people are alike. But if youre so for peace why do you argue because even you should know that its 2 peole disagreeing with eachother that starts wars. besides nothing can come without a price and peace is no exception.
Really? This Isn't just a patriotic song, it's propaganda to make you proud be a killer for the USA. You shouldn't want to proud of the land you were born in. It's a piece of dirt. You should want to be proud of the people you live by. There are 312 million people living in the united states. So how could you possibly know that we are a people to be proud of? And no, patriotism didn't die with JFK. Stop saying things that are blatantly not true so you can feel like you're above everyone else.
my history teacher showed us this song but a woman was singing and i cant find that one because it was like annoying but addictiing haha does anyone know which one im talkin about?

To all the ignorants! This song is a WW1 song. An US "army" entered the western front in 1917. Though brave the yanks didn´t really change the balance on the western front, but nevertheless helped establishing the foundation for the armistice in 1918. Being in number a small force, Pershings unit though represented the willing of the largest industrial power in the world to participate in solving international conflicts. WW1 was quite different from WW2 and comparison is not straigth forward.
@SchnelleHeinz What do you mean "didn't really change the balance"? The only reason why the war shifted for the allies after so many years of stagnant trench warfare had a hell of a lot to do with the ability of the allies to call upon a fresh, untapped source of manpower. The rest of it was mainly Germany's inability to remobilize their eastern front forces quick enough after the end of hostilities with the Russians.
I would just like to mention something that almost everybody forgets about here.

@catkiller60 What are you talking about!? I'm American! I was born and raised in Texas; so I'm the best kind of American. No just kidding, but seriously; where in that comment does it say I'm Canadian? I've never even been to Canada. Both of my parents were Texan, and my mom's side has been Texan for awhile; my dad on the other hand was born in Texas, but his family is from Missippi and Arkansas. I'm Swedish, Seminole indian, Irish, and whatever else was thrown into the pot over time.
@catkiller60 Never say crap like this to a US service person who has fought alongside the Canadians in combat. I have seen them and they are damn good. Also mind you during WW1 Americans served in the Canadian military. If you want to talk shit about the Canadian military I would love to meet you and I am a Marine. Like I said they have died alongside us since day one but seeing how you probably never left to this country in the service you would never know.
I tend to think that the atomic bomb killing 1.5 million Japanese was better than the alternative - an invasion of Japan. They minted 1,000,000 purple hearts in preparation for such an invasion, and they have not minted one since. An invasion of Japan would have meant almost a million American casualties. Also, the Japanese were extremely fanatical. They would have fought to the last man to defend their homeland. There may have been 3 or 4 million Japanese casualties, both military and civilian
you have a typical american view on war.. Its ok to kill the innocent as long as the Americans win... Ho Chi Minh managed to humiliate the yanks from tunnels.. it took the U.S 10 years to flush 1 man out of a cave... the Taliban are beating the yanks with weapons supplied to them from the U.S 25 years ago... Read books that arent propaganda.. and cop on son.. some wars cant be won by dropping nuclear weapons or killing 22,000 innocent men women and children.. GET EDUCATED KID......
@deancogan28 Dropping the atom bomb was more of karma for Japan. They slaughtered millions of civilians from China and SE Asia. Also, the atom bomb could be seen as necessary in preventing what could have been more Japanese deaths if there was an invasion. The US civilian kill count greatly pales to that of Japan in the end. You need to read more anti-american books. And by the looks of history, wars can be won by dropping nuclear weapons, which is why we try to restrict them today.
you think you have the knowledge to "educate" me??? I have a 1st class degree in history, and I have travelled to Asia, unlike 95% of americans, I actually have a passport.. If you read propaganda printed in the U.S then you will have a 1 sided view, My advice to you Yankee is to travel.. see the world.. Go to Hiroshima, go to the graveyards.. and "non major" cities?? what crap is that? 22,000 innocent people died.. Pearl harbour was a military target.. There were no children killed in pearl....
Have to say, ww2 would never have happened if the germans won ww1. Now I now at first thats sounds terrible, but If you actually do some research it probably wouldnt be nearly as bad as ww2
@JimT1976 you murdering pigs.. Killing 22,000 innocent Japenesse by dropping a nuclear weapon is no way to win a war.... women and children... pensioners.. brave men indeed..... You cant even beat the taliban who are hiding in caves... the Viet cong also showed the "brave" yanks how to win a war
@deancogan28 This is pretty much the most ignorant comment I've stumbled across on youtube. Believe it or not, people die in war. People die to prevent others from dying. It's a gamble of thousands of Americans and millions of Japanese dying in a land invasion with the same result. You have to realize that the Japanese have long forgiven the Americans for this incident. Do the British still hold the air raids of London by the Germans against them? No. Grow up and get with the program.
@Lupehkun I dont care if the germans and the brits have made up, seeing as I am Irish.. Am I wrong in saying that it was the bombing of nagasaki and hiroshima that brought the white flag from the japanesse, AND the dropping of these nuclear weapons MURDERD innocent men women and children... Thats not ignorance its FACT......... The americans have since WW2 seen themselves as the saviours of the world.. even now they kill innocent Afghan women and children.. So get your facts right MATE....
@deancogan28 Well, no shit, Sherlock. Anyone can take small facts out of context and form an opinion of something when they know nothing else-- which, by the way, is called ignorant. Now, consider the repercussions of said 'murderous' bombing. Yes, the US bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Guess what? Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. It didn't do much, but it was a maneuver to get the US into the war. So, how did the US get Japan out of war? Bombing two non-major cities.
@deancogan28 The fact is, the Japanese were in no way innocent. They savagely moved into China, who was the US’s ally at the time, and absolutely massacred entire villages by cutting off the heads of the men, setting flame to their villages, and raping women and children alike. "War is hell," as American civil war General Sherman so nicely put it. The US isn’t innocent either.
@deancogan28 Before the nuclear bombings, the US went through and firebombed cities because much of the buildings were made of paper and wood. Tokyo lit up real fast when it was no better built than craft supplies. Japan invaded Taiwan and China and hoped to seize the rest of the Pacific theater. They were modern day -violent- imperialists. Until Pearl Harbor, the US was neutral, assisting the European warfront only in the providing of munitions.
@deancogan28 You have to realize that the US was very slow to get into either World Wars because they were actually sticking with their original loyalty to George Washington, who delivered a speech before he left office stating that the country should not get involved in European wars and make secretive foreign alliances.
@deancogan28 And, they were pretty good about following through with that. FDR had a hell of a time leading the country when he was pro-war and the rest of the country wanted to stay neutral. Regardless, it’s as simple as this: Japan is not innocent.
@deancogan28 They opened a second war front by attacking a US military base. By doing so, they prodded at one of the world’s greatest military powers, refused to back down and stop creating problems in the Pacific, therefore, narrowly avoided a land invasion by finally giving in after two bombings. Poetic, no?
@deancogan28 Now that you’ve been thoroughly educated about the Japanese-American involvement in WWII, I advise you hit the books versus the comment button lest offering something even more telling of how ignorant you truly are.
By the way, I'm not an American citizen, so saying I'm biased doesn't work. I'm just a splendidly educated Canadian high school student who just schooled you in history. Have a good day.
@deancogan28 get over yourself, bitch. Japan had it coming to them, seeing as how they bombed Pearl Harbor AND slaughtered countless civilians during their invasion of China. or did you conveniently forget all those deaths? Anyway, a hell of a lot more Japanese AND Americans would have died had there been a land invasion. Also, NEWS FLASH you drunken idiot, Japan and America have long since made up. So, get your head out of your ass and read a history book you racist asshole.
@realwaluigi you fucking muppett.. Pearl harbour was a MILITARY target.... Hiroshima and Nagasaki were INNOCENT japenese... You dumb thick american wanker
@deancogan28 ok, so mabye those WERE innocent lives. but have you forgotten all the INNOCENT Chinease who were raped and killed by the Japanese? Or the fact that even MORE Japanese civilians would have died as a result of a land invasion? ANSWER MY FUCKING QUESTIONS DUMBASS.
@realwaluigi when did the americans ever give a fuck about the chinese?? A litttle history lesson here for you son.. The strained relationship between Japan and the U.S was because of SHIPPING LANES.. and you say MAYBE there were innocent lives??? it was a fucking city, a non military target.. pearl harbour was a military target and the only people killed were U.S soldiers, innocent men, women and children were killed by the U.S who should have been charged with crimes against humanity...
@deancogan28 fucking retard. japan did have it coming to them. they fucked w/ us so we nuked their ass.by the way, there are 7 continents. not 6.there might be 6 cause, europe and asia are connected. so shut the fuck up. we beat your ass in the revolutionary war nd, the war of 1812.
@catkiller60@catkiller60 Please stop writing stupid, belligerent, and false statements. Though Japan was developing their own nuclear program, we, the United States, gave no prior warning about the bombs until they incinerated the civilians and industries of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Yes there are 7 continents, and there wouldn't be 6 just because Europe and Asia are connected. America won the Revolutionary War, but not because of military superiority, and the War of 1812 was a stalemate.
@hunterkiller232134 We never explicitly warned them about the bombs, and they had no anticipation of what destruction we would cause in such a minuscule instant. While some people can declare our attacks on the Japanese mainland as justified, it still doesn't excuse the the repercussions that sent ripples through time with our revelation of such a devastating weapon (even though we weren't the only nation with nuclear programs)
@elchido2012 We definitely warned the civilians that their cities were going to be destroyed, and after lengthy bombing campaigns they knew were perfectly capable of it. The attacks were justified and I think it's telling that there hasn't been a war of this scale since.
@hunterkiller232134 Perhaps we might have warned Japan about attacks on the mainland but not about the atomic bombs themselves. But how can you say the attacks were justified? Nothing in war is justifiable really, not by any comparison between the atrocities of two sides. As bad as the Japanese military was to other nations and American and British soldiers, their civilians didn't really deserve the devastation that was dealt to them. A shame... then again, it's in the past. So... oh well.
@elchido2012 We warned the populace that two cities were going to be obliterated. There really is no way to warn about the bombs themselves when we didn't fully understand them and the attacks relied on the shock factor (the Japs didn't think atomic bombs were viable, so abandoned their own nuclear program). As for whether or not the action can be justified; it is. We were at war with all aspects of Japanese society and they with ours.
@hunterkiller232134 There is absolutely no evidence that we ever mentioned a nuclear weapon to the Japanese. We demanded their unconditional surrender. They refused. We said they would suffer "prompt and utter destruction" but please, find me a quote that states we were going to knock out two of their cities with an atomic bomb. Your use of the word "Jap" disturbs me, almost as much as your belief that the murder of a couple hundred thousand innocent civilians is justifiable.
@hunterkiller232134 And we knew damn well what the bombs were capable of. As if its difficult for scientists to see an enormous explosion when they're staring directly at it. Fine, they didn't understand the long-term effects of the radiation, but that is seriously no excuse. While an alternative to the bombs would have perhaps been less favorable, such as an invasion of the mainland, that's hardly grounds for saying that destroying their cities was right (even if it was the only thing to do...)
@elchido2012 That's something I don't understand. How was it not right to drop the bombs? When projected casualties for invasion were in the millions, when US aid was vital to restoring Japan from the brink of famine, when these cities were going to be destroyed either way, and when the bombs caused fewer casualties than the conventional bombing of Tokyo - how was it not the right thing to do?
@hunterkiller232134 There's a difference between what's necessary and what's right. I'm thinking in terms of morality. I completely agree that there was no realistic alternative (unless we were willing to accept their conditional surrender, the terms of which we agreed to at the end of the war anyway) but I am speaking in regards to the fact that dropping the nuclear bombs was an immoral decision. While war by definition is immoral, they should have foreseen the repercussions of their actions.
@deancogan28 Dude... The Japanese committed atrocities far worse than anything America did. The atomic bombings and fire-bombings subjected the Japanese cities to carnage over several months. The occupation of China, India, Southeast Asia, the Phillipines, and other major Pacific Island territories subjected many peoples and cultures to years of maltreatment, mass-murders, death marches, and innumerable war crimes. By comparison, what we unleashed was a fraction of the Japanese brutality.
@deancogan28 actually nagasaki was a more industrial target hiroshima was the more civillian target seriously tho you dont see us wihning about loseing a war so get over it

GET EDUCATED KID......
deancogan28 8 months ago
@deancogan28 Dropping the atom bomb was more of karma for Japan. They slaughtered millions of civilians from China and SE Asia. Also, the atom bomb could be seen as necessary in preventing what could have been more Japanese deaths if there was an invasion. The US civilian kill count greatly pales to that of Japan in the end. You need to read more anti-american books. And by the looks of history, wars can be won by dropping nuclear weapons, which is why we try to restrict them today.

"you have a typical american view on war.. Its ok to kill the innocent as long as the Americans win"
That could be said about many other countries, you know. Not specifically, only to the U.S.A.
Briselance 7 months ago
you think you have the knowledge to "educate" me??? I have a 1st class degree in history, and I have travelled to Asia, unlike 95% of americans, I actually have a passport.. If you read propaganda printed in the U.S then you will have a 1 sided view, My advice to you Yankee is to travel.. see the world.. Go to Hiroshima, go to the graveyards.. and "non major" cities?? what crap is that? 22,000 innocent people died.. Pearl harbour was a military target.. There were no children killed in pearl....

@JimT1976 you murdering pigs.. Killing 22,000 innocent Japenesse by dropping a nuclear weapon is no way to win a war.... women and children... pensioners.. brave men indeed..... You cant even beat the taliban who are hiding in caves... the Viet cong also showed the "brave" yanks how to win a war
deancogan28 8 months ago
@deancogan28 This is pretty much the most ignorant comment I've stumbled across on youtube. Believe it or not, people die in war. People die to prevent others from dying. It's a gamble of thousands of Americans and millions of Japanese dying in a land invasion with the same result. You have to realize that the Japanese have long forgiven the Americans for this incident. Do the British still hold the air raids of London by the Germans against them? No. Grow up and get with the program.
Lupehkun 8 months ago
@Lupehkun I dont care if the germans and the brits have made up, seeing as I am Irish.. Am I wrong in saying that it was the bombing of nagasaki and hiroshima that brought the white flag from the japanesse, AND the dropping of these nuclear weapons MURDERD innocent men women and children... Thats not ignorance its FACT......... The americans have since WW2 seen themselves as the saviours of the world.. even now they kill innocent Afghan women and children.. So get your facts right MATE....
deancogan28 8 months ago
@deancogan28 Well, no shit, Sherlock. Anyone can take small facts out of context and form an opinion of something when they know nothing else-- which, by the way, is called ignorant. Now, consider the repercussions of said 'murderous' bombing. Yes, the US bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Guess what? Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. It didn't do much, but it was a maneuver to get the US into the war. So, how did the US get Japan out of war? Bombing two non-major cities.
Lupehkun 8 months ago
@deancogan28 The fact is, the Japanese were in no way innocent. They savagely moved into China, who was the US’s ally at the time, and absolutely massacred entire villages by cutting off the heads of the men, setting flame to their villages, and raping women and children alike. "War is hell," as American civil war General Sherman so nicely put it. The US isn’t innocent either.
Lupehkun 8 months ago
@deancogan28 Before the nuclear bombings, the US went through and firebombed cities because much of the buildings were made of paper and wood. Tokyo lit up real fast when it was no better built than craft supplies. Japan invaded Taiwan and China and hoped to seize the rest of the Pacific theater. They were modern day -violent- imperialists. Until Pearl Harbor, the US was neutral, assisting the European warfront only in the providing of munitions.
Lupehkun 8 months ago
@deancogan28 You have to realize that the US was very slow to get into either World Wars because they were actually sticking with their original loyalty to George Washington, who delivered a speech before he left office stating that the country should not get involved in European wars and make secretive foreign alliances.
Lupehkun 8 months ago
@deancogan28 And, they were pretty good about following through with that. FDR had a hell of a time leading the country when he was pro-war and the rest of the country wanted to stay neutral. Regardless, it’s as simple as this: Japan is not innocent.
Lupehkun 8 months ago
@deancogan28 They opened a second war front by attacking a US military base. By doing so, they prodded at one of the world’s greatest military powers, refused to back down and stop creating problems in the Pacific, therefore, narrowly avoided a land invasion by finally giving in after two bombings. Poetic, no?
Lupehkun 8 months ago
@deancogan28 Now that you’ve been thoroughly educated about the Japanese-American involvement in WWII, I advise you hit the books versus the comment button lest offering something even more telling of how ignorant you truly are.
By the way, I'm not an American citizen, so saying I'm biased doesn't work. I'm just a splendidly educated Canadian high school student who just schooled you in history. Have a good day.
Lupehkun 8 months ago
@deancogan28 get over yourself, bitch. Japan had it coming to them, seeing as how they bombed Pearl Harbor AND slaughtered countless civilians during their invasion of China. or did you conveniently forget all those deaths? Anyway, a hell of a lot more Japanese AND Americans would have died had there been a land invasion. Also, NEWS FLASH you drunken idiot, Japan and America have long since made up. So, get your head out of your ass and read a history book you racist asshole.

deancogan28 6 months ago
@deancogan28 ok, so mabye those WERE innocent lives. but have you forgotten all the INNOCENT Chinease who were raped and killed by the Japanese? Or the fact that even MORE Japanese civilians would have died as a result of a land invasion? ANSWER MY FUCKING QUESTIONS DUMBASS.
realwaluigi 6 months ago
@realwaluigi when did the americans ever give a fuck about the chinese?? A litttle history lesson here for you son.. The strained relationship between Japan and the U.S was because of SHIPPING LANES.. and you say MAYBE there were innocent lives??? it was a fucking city, a non military target.. pearl harbour was a military target and the only people killed were U.S soldiers, innocent men, women and children were killed by the U.S who should have been charged with crimes against humanity...
deancogan28 6 months ago
@deancogan28 fucking retard. japan did have it coming to them. they fucked w/ us so we nuked their ass.by the way, there are 7 continents. not 6.there might be 6 cause, europe and asia are connected. so shut the fuck up. we beat your ass in the revolutionary war nd, the war of 1812.
catkiller60 6 months ago
@catkiller60 @catkiller60 Please stop writing stupid, belligerent, and false statements. Though Japan was developing their own nuclear program, we, the United States, gave no prior warning about the bombs until they incinerated the civilians and industries of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Yes there are 7 continents, and there wouldn't be 6 just because Europe and Asia are connected. America won the Revolutionary War, but not because of military superiority, and the War of 1812 was a stalemate.
elchido2012 5 months ago
@elchido2012 We did warn the Japanese.
hunterkiller232134 5 months ago
@hunterkiller232134 We never explicitly warned them about the bombs, and they had no anticipation of what destruction we would cause in such a minuscule instant. While some people can declare our attacks on the Japanese mainland as justified, it still doesn't excuse the the repercussions that sent ripples through time with our revelation of such a devastating weapon (even though we weren't the only nation with nuclear programs)
elchido2012 5 months ago
@elchido2012 We definitely warned the civilians that their cities were going to be destroyed, and after lengthy bombing campaigns they knew were perfectly capable of it. The attacks were justified and I think it's telling that there hasn't been a war of this scale since.
hunterkiller232134 5 months ago
@hunterkiller232134 Perhaps we might have warned Japan about attacks on the mainland but not about the atomic bombs themselves. But how can you say the attacks were justified? Nothing in war is justifiable really, not by any comparison between the atrocities of two sides. As bad as the Japanese military was to other nations and American and British soldiers, their civilians didn't really deserve the devastation that was dealt to them. A shame... then again, it's in the past. So... oh well.
elchido2012 5 months ago
@elchido2012 We warned the populace that two cities were going to be obliterated. There really is no way to warn about the bombs themselves when we didn't fully understand them and the attacks relied on the shock factor (the Japs didn't think atomic bombs were viable, so abandoned their own nuclear program). As for whether or not the action can be justified; it is. We were at war with all aspects of Japanese society and they with ours.
hunterkiller232134 5 months ago
@hunterkiller232134 There is absolutely no evidence that we ever mentioned a nuclear weapon to the Japanese. We demanded their unconditional surrender. They refused. We said they would suffer "prompt and utter destruction" but please, find me a quote that states we were going to knock out two of their cities with an atomic bomb. Your use of the word "Jap" disturbs me, almost as much as your belief that the murder of a couple hundred thousand innocent civilians is justifiable.
elchido2012 5 months ago
@hunterkiller232134 And we knew damn well what the bombs were capable of. As if its difficult for scientists to see an enormous explosion when they're staring directly at it. Fine, they didn't understand the long-term effects of the radiation, but that is seriously no excuse. While an alternative to the bombs would have perhaps been less favorable, such as an invasion of the mainland, that's hardly grounds for saying that destroying their cities was right (even if it was the only thing to do...)
elchido2012 5 months ago
@elchido2012 That's something I don't understand. How was it not right to drop the bombs? When projected casualties for invasion were in the millions, when US aid was vital to restoring Japan from the brink of famine, when these cities were going to be destroyed either way, and when the bombs caused fewer casualties than the conventional bombing of Tokyo - how was it not the right thing to do?
hunterkiller232134 5 months ago
@hunterkiller232134 There's a difference between what's necessary and what's right. I'm thinking in terms of morality. I completely agree that there was no realistic alternative (unless we were willing to accept their conditional surrender, the terms of which we agreed to at the end of the war anyway) but I am speaking in regards to the fact that dropping the nuclear bombs was an immoral decision. While war by definition is immoral, they should have foreseen the repercussions of their actions.
elchido2012 5 months ago
@deancogan28 Dude... The Japanese committed atrocities far worse than anything America did. The atomic bombings and fire-bombings subjected the Japanese cities to carnage over several months. The occupation of China, India, Southeast Asia, the Phillipines, and other major Pacific Island territories subjected many peoples and cultures to years of maltreatment, mass-murders, death marches, and innumerable war crimes. By comparison, what we unleashed was a fraction of the Japanese brutality.
