I love this song and have the original 45rpm. I also have his only #1 hit.... Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini from 1960, boy that took a lot of energy, and Gypsy Woman from 1970. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
@Baskerville22 The first time I heard this song on the radio in the 60's I thought it was Gary Lewis. Brian did not have a hit for awhile and I was glad he started recording some rock again.
I wish some one would upload the song on the other side of this record. The name of it was I Can Hear The Rain, I havent heard it in 40 years and been wanting to.
They played this one on either oldies 107.3 or WHAP might've been WHAP, the other day. I hadn't heard it in yrs. They said it was Byran Hyland. I always thought it was Gary Lewis and the Playboys. Sure sounds like something they'd sing. You have some nice vids esp the Tommy James ones...
@cherylhar: No surprise you originally thought this was Gary Lewis & the Playboys...Leon Russell played the xylophone and the piano tracks on this, as well as Glen Campbell on guitar, and Hal Blaine on drums - not sure if Carol Kaye is on bass, though - could be Carl Radle (who was a member of Gary Lewis / Playboys). Leon, Glen, and Hal were all part of the "Wrecking Crew", who did many of the hit tracks for Gary Lewis as well.
i remember when this song came out. always think of the words to an old Joplin sonf Come on and break it, you've got a piece of my heart

My second favorite Brian Hyland song. I like "Run, Run, Look and See" the best.

Was this the last song that Brian had in the 60's? I did not hear him again until the early 70's when he covered "Gypsy Women" I loved that version.
khj93play 1 year ago
@khj93play No, he had a few other hits in the late 60s, especially "Run Run Look and See".
