I remember this on the juke box out at the two hangouts in Oil Trough, Arkansas (yes, that's the real name of the town). Great stuff. I had the privilege of playing music with Sonny Burgess but not pro as part of his group. Just some informal local stuff. He's a great guy from this era and I'm honored to be able to call him one of my local friends whom I see frequently and who still lives here in town. Keep up the great posts, HepKat.
Eager... yes, he was somethin' else... i also saw Billy, Charlie, Carl, Cash, Killer, Charlie, Ray Smith, and Sonny Burgess... Ray to me was the very best of the bunch... he & Charlie were, to me, the best singers on Sun...... including Elvis.
Saw him play once. He is was out of this world. The best live rockabilly performer I've ever seen and I've seen quite a few including Billy Lee Riley, Charlie Feathers and Carl Perkins, not to mention many less well known. He sang this one as well as 'Rockin' Love' and most of his better known Philips numbers.
He did in fact record this in '57. I have an original copy of this in my collection. I love the raw sound compared to the Phillips International (Sun) stuff.
Jaxon Label was lacated jn Jackson Tn. Owned by Jimmy Martin,Entrepreneur/Musician, in 50's I think Carl rcorded that song in 57,and after that went to sun records & rrecorded mona lisa.
Beautiful stuff, sheer pleasure.

Very impressive. Different from his later style but sounds like he could rock with the best.

Only 300 of these 45's came out. Very Rare. He was only 14 years of age when he recorded this song.

April 1957 ! very nice and raw Carl Mann. Jimmie Martin and Kenny Parchman did also great records on Jaxon.

Wow, another discover for me. I have a single of this song recorded on the late 70's and I believe it was from this time, not from the 50's

Yeah, I think they put out some reissues in the 70's. A lot of SUN reissues were put out in that era as well.

This has to be from '53 or '54. Good basic rock and roll. Where was Jaxon Records located? Not familiar with that label.
